Tsitrian Says Trump Visit Could Backfire on GOP in South Dakota. Let’s Find Out!

I would love for Donald Trump to campaign in South Dakota and stand right next to Dusty Johnson, Kristi Noem, Al Novstrup, and any other Republican foolish enough to cower next Il Duce.

John Tsitrian explains why I’m hoping Trump will come trick-or-treating with SD GOPers:

In South Dakota’s coming general election, the central economic issue is probably the soybean industry and how badly it’s been devastated by Trump’s obsession with a trade war.  If that doesn’t change soon, soybean prices–which are at there lowest since 2009–will be the object of a lot of attention as November draws near.  As it stands, prices are about 20% below what they were when Trump was elected, a level that will cause about a $500 million loss to soybean farmers in South Dakota.   In a state with just over 800 thousand residents, that’s a tough loss to absorb [John Tsitrian, “Trump Is Coming To South Dakota. Good Luck With That, Pubs. He Might Be More Of A Liability Than You Think,” The Constant Commoner, 2018.08.22].

Tsitrian notes that Trump’s pick lost in Wyoming’s GOP gubernatorial primary this week, and Wyoming went harder for Trump in 2016 than South Dakota. So yes, let’s test the hypothesis. Let’s see if South Dakota would produce similar results. Let’s see if Donald could stand on a stage and just remember Dusty’s and Kristi’s and Al’s names… and then let’s see if South Dakotans respond to an in-person endorsement from a loudmouth Manhattan billionaire in a silk suit.

You know I thought about this. As a candidate, I wouldn’t want to stand next to the lyingest and crookedest politician in American history. Some of the stank might rub off. So for Dusty the best strategy is to be at some important meeting that day. I guess for Noem, there are plenty of shots of her in the Trump/Stormy pose already. Trump and Noem are two similar people. They both lie about almost everything, and everyone already knows that about them. So, for her there is no real downside.

But I thought about this from a personal perspective. As a person, there’s something about standing next to an infamous criminal in a photo that would be somewhat appealing. I mean who wouldn’t want to be photographed with, oh, Al Capone, for example? Maybe you would even have the courage, which most Republicans don’t have, to tell truth to power. Years later, you could pull out the scrap book with the grandkids and show them when you stood shoulder to shoulder with the traitor President. You might even make up a bedtime story about how you singlehandedly brought that crook down.

JASON was right. There actually IS a “Just Walk Away” movement and it’s historical. Although (so far) there’s only been one participant. i.e. At least Richard Nixon had the dignity to just walk away from a criminal Presidency. It’s doubtful that The Criminal Trump will have the same pride and self-respect.

Drumpf’s visit to South Dakota will be all about Drumpf hizownself and nobody else.

It appears very few of those who voted for Trump – whether they did so holding their noses or not – have defected from his side. The Central States Fair continues today and tomorrow and the Republican booth prominently features a cardboard cut-out of Trump as well as a mock-up of Mt Rushmore with his likeness added adjacent to Washington’s. It took all my might to resist the urge to add an inflatable girlfriend for Trump to complete the tableau.

Maybe Trump could get a day pass for Maria Butina and bring her along to introduce him. Afterwards, she could catch up on old times with some of her pals in the South Dakota GOP.

I’m skeptical. I think WY voters have A LOT more common sense than do SD voters. And that is not saying a lot; and that is saying less about the SD electorate.

The hardcore trumpelstilskins are not wavering. It’s all the rest of the people who voted for him that have changed their minds.

Demographically speaking, they’re residents of small cities and suburbs. That hardcore 30% seems not only unshakable, but unreachable. They’re the ones who believe Faux Noise and Infowarstainment. Thankfully, 30% is not enough to win anything except a couple very gerrymandered or stubborn districts.

watch for an add for seat fillers for his appearance. He came up short in one of his last rallies and muttered about the empty seats and sparse crowd all the way back to DC

Curt—inflatable girlfriend! I wholeheartedly support someone sneaking in and gluing such an accessory to the Trump cardboard.

Donald Pay, I would totally seize an opportunity to stand next to and be photographed with Trump, like Seiler with his flyswatter, sending at least a coded message that I stand in the frame with the criminal Don only in resistance, in critique of his corruption.

Kristi would never do it, but maybe Dusty maintains some shred of conscience and decency. Maybe Dusty, dragged to such an event, would take to the podium and criticize Trump to his face. Maybe Dusty would say to Donald what the average South Dakotan would say to any such silk-suited billionaire blowhard mouthing off at the corner bar. Maybe Dusty would simply speak the truth. There is no greater display of courage a Republican can make in 2018.

Another kid to share the wealth with the rest of the anchor babies. “(CNN)A former Trump World Tower doorman who says he has knowledge of an alleged affair President Donald Trump had with an ex-housekeeper, which resulted in a child, is now able to talk about a contract he entered with American Media Inc. that had prohibited him from discussing the matter with anyone, according to his attorney.

On Friday, Marc Held — the attorney for Dino Sajudin, the former doorman — said his client had been released from his contract with AMI, the parent company of the National Enquirer, “recently” after back-and-forth discussions with AMI.
CNN has exclusively obtained a copy of the “source agreement” between Sajudin and AMI, which is owned by David Pecker.”https://www.cnn.com/2018/08/24/politics/trump-tower-doorman-contract-ami/index.html

No wonder South Dakota republicans loves them their man, he fits right into the corrupt behavior that has given us EB5 and Gear Up to name a couple. trump is coming to South Dakota to find out how you can get away with murder in an investigation to make it all go away.

Dusty is in a photograph with the Red Sparrow, Butina. He didn’t know there was stink on her at the time (at least I hope he didn’t)

But there is definitely stink in and around Trump. Has Dusty learned from his mistakes? Probably not.

  14. mike from iowa 2018-08-25 16:52

Drumpf is feuding with Sessions some more. Drumpf doesn’t think Sessions knows the AG is supposed to protect the bogus potus or something. Drumpf also claimed he was going to take over the HRC investigation on his own. This ought to be interesting.

  15. OldSarg 2018-08-25 17:10

No mike, yesterday it cam out your main man Peter Strzok lied about reviewing the weiner emails and then Come lied to Congress about it. Strzok actually only had them look at 3K out of 60K of emails and Trump said “Big story out that the FBI ignored tens of thousands of Crooked Hillary Emails, many of which are REALLY BAD. Also gave false election info. I feel sure that we will soon be getting to the bottom of all of this corruption. At some point I may have to get involved!”

The crap is getting deeper and the root-rooter man is now in office.

It will be interesting to see if Tangerine Wankmaggot is a boost or a hindrance in SD.

I have a 56 yo cousin in Missouri, though she grew up in SD and Iowa. She is a nice person, average intelligence. She adamantly believes in every conspiracy theory that favors Tangerine Wankmaggot, the whole “Deep State” myth and all the rest of the Infowars/Faux Noise nonsense just like OS.

I haven’t found a way to talk political facts with her because she has her own set of “alternative facts” just like OS. Even clearly evident things, like the sparsely attended inaugural were not so.

Those are the people who will vote for anyone the Liar-in-Chief tells them to. They absolutely and really will because they have secret info/bs the rest of us don’t have and their hero has even more secret info/bs that they don’t know.

I get along with my cousin and her 3 wonderful children and her grandchildren because we do not talk about politics.

I am so grateful that deluded people such as my cousin and OS only make up about 1/4 of the population. (Still too many, but I think the number will decrease after Tangerine Wankmaggot and his 3 oldest offspring are in prison.)

I wonder when one of these dysfunctional trump supporters will ask him where the hell the 12 Billion Dollar Bribe cut is, show me the money!

  24. jerry 2018-08-25 21:29

Me, I hope the Russian comes here, the last thing in the world I would like to see is for trump to be impeached. The only political folks talking about impeachment are republicans, imagine that. Why would they want their boy impeached?

  25. jerry 2018-08-25 23:32

Senator John McCain has died. He was a good man that irked me sometimes, but I admired him for his many achievements and the most recent, to save the ACA/Obamacare from his ruthless party and its leader. Senator McCain has requested that Presidents Obama and George W. Bush eulogize him and has forbade trump from showing his Russian mug at the funeral.

South Dakota has no choice but to allow this draft dodger trump to our place, but Senator John McCain did have the choice and it was thumbs down.

  26. mike from iowa 2018-08-26 11:21

On a lighter note about McCain’s passing, wingnut candidate for Senate from Arizona, Kelli Ward, blamed McCain’s timing of his treatment stoppage as an effort to hurt her campaign. She is the one with ties to Drumpf and white supremacists. She wanted Mike Cernovich on her campaign bus because he has an audience she is trying to reach.

trump will go west river to avoid farmers in east river. trump just declared he would end NAFTA and start a US-Mexico trade deal…and then deal with Canada. Mexico says any agreement must have a Canadian signature, so there ya go. Fun times ahead. Word has it that he will give Comrade Dusty a wedgie just for the hell of it, to show unity. Comrade NOem has readied a chastity belt to avoid the awkward handshake that Access Hollywood discussed. Nelson and the goofs will be there with their widdle guns and spittle.

I am still wondering where my $4,000.00 is that trump promised me. I think trump waits to get the rest of the farmers Bribes from his pals in Russia. Of course Russia, because there the ones who actually sold the ag products.
