Ohio Import Takes SDGOP Exec Spot, Strengthens Noem’s Control of Party

To further tighten her grip on the South Dakota Republican Party machine and stifle any dissent from within the party that might arise over her national celebrity seeking, unseemly associations, lies, and other poor performance, Governor Kristi Noem’s flunkies have installed another of her out-of-state campaign hires as executive director of the SDGOP:

Thursday, newly elected Chairman John Wiik announced that Madison Sheahan would become the state party’s new Executive Director.

Sheahan replaces Terin Lucero, who was hired as the party’s Executive Director last year.

“I am excited for Madison to join our leadership team at the State Party.” Wiik “She played an instrumental role in the 2022 election cycle on Governor Kristi Noem’s team and will bring a new perspective as we begin to rebuild the party.”

In addition to previously working for Noem, Sheahan previously worked as a State Director for Donald J. Trump for President in 2020, and has worked with the NRSC, RNC and Ohio Republican Party. Madison has a degree in Agribusiness, Public Management, Leadership and Policy from Ohio State University [Austin Goss, “Sheahan Named Executive Director of SD GOP,” KSFY, 2023.01.19].

Noem imported Sheahan from Ohio to analyze policy for her administration and act as a prop in her awkward 2021 damage-control press conference about the threat transgender athletes pose to girls. Sheahan must have shown some talent, because Noem quickly promoted Sheahan to the more important task of managing operations on Noem’s reëlection campaign. Now she can focus on doing Noem’s bidding as director of a party that doesn’t need much directing to win elections in South Dakota.

That there are no Republicans in South Dakota who are qualified to do anything should come as a surprise to no one.

This is all about tightening all the hatches and locking the inmates inside the Kristi for President rocket ride. It should kneecap any outside influencers from getting a foothold in South Dakota for a different GOP candidate for the RNC’s nomination. Meanwhile, South Dakota taxpayers will be bankrolling Kristi’s campaign security (our highway patrol), airfare (our state airplanes), out-of-state staff hired for national politicking (our money, their paychecks) and related costs. We already know that ethics, the legislature’s GOAC and judicial oversight are jokes in Pierre. It’s going to be a busy year for Kristi NoName and she doesn’t want any complications from those little people back in South Dakota.

She’s got Potomac Fever! Stay outta her way!
