Ohio Bikers Don’t Let Sickness Keep Them from Riding to Sturgis, Socializing, Standing for Freedom

This is Kristi Noem’s Freedom™:

Dean Nelson of Fredericksburg, Ohio, who brands himself online as “The Biker Guru“, loves the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally. He’d ridden to the Rally 21 times, and this year, he sure as heck wasn’t going to miss his 22nd, even if he started feeling sick in Indianapolis [screen caps provided by an eager Dakota Free Press reader]:

Dean and his wife Wendy both felt awful by the time they got to the Hills. They tried to rest and stay away from others…

…but with hundreds of thousands of fellow motorbike enthusiasts around, it’s hard to keep a good biker at a social distance:

The Nelsons managed to roll down Boulder Canyon to spend a little time in Sturgis itself on Saturday, August 14:

…but afterward, they felt like death (har-de-har-har):

South Dakota is now seeing a huge (nearly 500%) surge in coronavirus cases. The epicenter of that surge is Sturgis. Now Health Secretary Kim Malsam-Rysdon has said it’s not fair to attribute coronavirus cases to any one event, but if we were going to do any contact tracing, the Nelsons’ Facebook account of their trip to Sturgis (and Wendy’s Facebook check-ins on the way back, which show Wall Drug, White Lake Rest Area, Hartford Steak Co., the Highlander Hotel in Iowa City…) would provide some useful direction.

And if anyone at the Silverado Franklin, Family Dollar, Saloon #10, Mustang Sally’s, the Dungeon, or any other popular stop along the Nelson’s Rally Route feels ill, Dean Nelson can tell you exactly who’s to blame: China, Joe Biden, and the Democratic Party:

I’d like to attribute Dean’s post-Sturgis ranting to covid brain fog, but his conflation of his illness with his outrage at the existence of “liberals” and vaccines and masks fits with comments he made before getting sick about people promoting masks are “cowards with low self esteem, bad science, no common sense who turned there [sic] life over to mob rule and government handlers“:

Dean Nelson, The Biker Guru, FB, 2021.04.10.

Getting sick yet riding across the country and socializing amidst a pandemic—that’s “courage and freedom”. Anyone who suggests you maybe wait until you feel better to go out, or wear a mask, or get vaccinated is a hateful liberal sissy who just envies how brave and strong you are.

And we liberal sissies with our masks and vaccines have nothing to worry about, because as Nelson explained last week, “Your arguments are silly and hold zero water!” We are “100% safe from evil Bikers at Bike Week,” because viruses never spread beyond the people who choose not to wear masks or get vaccines.

Update 2021.08.28 12:17 CDT: As of August 18, Dean Nelson complained of delirium and high fever and continued to feel he was near death:

Dean Nelson, FB, 2021.08.18.

Never mind Sturgis: if you’re running a fever and suffering delirium and memory loss, you shouldn’t be on the road at all.

I’m so glad he had a wonderful vacation, and never bowed the knee to any thoughts about anyone else but himself. A classic example of egomania, selfishness, self-centeredness, and right-wing brainwashing.

  2. buckobear 2021-08-26 09:28

Gosh! I kept scrolling down to see the news story of this guy on a vent ……… or worse.

  3. Ryan 2021-08-26 09:48

thanks to idiots like this guy, my job started requiring masks again today. we were so close to being done with this, but selfish losers won’t get the stupid shot already. awesome. thanks.

I’m sorry, I can’t express my feeling toward this “gentleman” in a family forum! !@#$%^&*!

Me, I’m happy that these dumbarse’s were not hospitalized in South Dakota. We have enough expense with the local dumbarse’s. BTW, hospitals are full up now so thanks to Typhoid NOem, we are where we are. Don’t get into an accident or hurt or you will have to triage yourself with your own stitches. Use dental floss, works pretty good.

  6. Donald Pay 2021-08-26 10:30

Just sorry that a-hole didn’t die before he got to SD. A lot of people will wonder whether this cretin infected them. But you have to understand that rally attenders are mainly lower IQ sociopaths. If any one of them dies, it’s a blessing to the rest of us.

  7. DaveFN 2021-08-26 10:39

Makes me wanna rush right out and get some of that “natural immunity” I’ve been hearin’ ’bout.

  8. jerry 2021-08-26 11:13

Indeed Mr. Pay, indeed. This is what we have to put up with in August. Only money for a few and sickness and/or death for the rest. How does that dollar out?

  9. sx123 2021-08-26 11:38

There is a post saying Dean Nelson died from covid buried in the FB page. Anyone see this?

  10. mike from iowa 2021-08-26 12:20

Wonder how many patriotic Harleys were made overseas?

  11. Porter Lansing 2021-08-26 12:49

Trump and Noem have all the hydroxychloroquine stashed away and are only giving it to “worthy MAGA’s”.

Apparently, the biker nation isn’t worthy, huh?

  12. Porter Lansing 2021-08-26 13:01

The difference ‘twixt bikers and ‘sickle riders is that bikers don’t care what people think of them AND they want everyone to know what a jerk they are.

    Are you a motorcycle rider?

  13. Bonnie 2021-08-26 15:05

I never joined FB, SX123; seemed like a bad idea at the time. I don’t know if Dean did the dirt nap or not. Pity if he did (snark).

This comment will ramble slightly off topic. Viewing the attached images, Dean looks like an arrogant, taxidermied old fart. ANYONE can malinger under shade trees, in bars, and on expensive equipment and claim to be deathly ill but manly and invincible to impress abysmally stupid followers.

Which leads me to my next observation. Remember when Hump was whisked off to Walter Reed with ostensible Covid-19, only to return triumphantly to cast his mask off on TV? How the MAGATS sucked that down and cheered! A retired SES friend from State told me Hump was getting a rimjob from Hope Hicks and had a “moderate cardiovascular event”.

Thank you for that link to The Daily Beast article. I note:

“Dr. Kevin Weiland, who works at the Rapid City Medical Center… bemoaned the extent to which unvaccinated people could put even those who had shots in greater danger, citing one senior care facility in the region he said had 17 residents who were infected with COVID, 15 of them vaccinated.”

We can use as many testimonies from physicians and health care workers as we can get, as far as I’m concerned.

That man looks so scarey. That couple should have stayed home. Its obvious their lacking common sense.
They probably have lotsa brain fog.

  16. Mark Anderson 2021-08-26 17:49

Hey come on everyone, he’s the base of the Republican party, have some respect.

  17. Porter Lansing 2021-08-26 18:33

    Yeah. I think he’s dead.

But, it wasn’t from the fake Covid flu.

Or, from liberal states that made him wear a helmet, riding on his Milwaukee Steel.

It was probably from too much fun under the sheets with his young girlfriend.

  18. jerry 2021-08-26 19:49

At least the biker dude didn’t go to the hospital like so many of the rest of the anti-vaxers. If they are so committed to the “freedom” to not get the shot, then stay home sick then die and rot.

  19. jerry 2021-08-26 20:44

Another freedumb covid dummy “not doing good” “Caleb Wallace has been hospitalized with the coronavirus since the beginning of August, unconscious, alone and heavily sedated, and his pregnant wife shared a “heartbreaking update” Wednesday on his condition, reported GoSanAngelo.

“He’s not doing good,” Jessica Wallace posted on Facebook. “It’s not looking in our favor, his lungs are stiff due to the fibrosis. They called and said they’ve run out of options for him and asked if I would consent to a do not resuscitate. And it would be up to us when to stop treatments.” https://www.rawstory.com/caleb-wallace/?e=suburbanguerrilla@comcast.net&utm_source=&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=7728

This dude is Sixty years old? He rides hard for sure

Brain Fog Is Real – Denial ain’t just a river in Egypt, either …
-The news of my death are highly over exaggerated. We survived a terrible 1500 miles isolated miserable ride home in 90 degree heat. Un like all the totally fabricated fake news, we did not have anything wrong with us on our entire 4 day ride to Sturgis or our 1rst 2 days there, a complete fraudulent made up lie by total malicious hating strangers. The two Bikers we road with at Sturgis already had the sickness and are totally immune. And of course the obituaries and stories that I am dead are equally completely made up and lies. I will never be Vaxed and I want to give thanks and praise to God for my immune system and my healthy lifestyle that protected me and my wife and the common sense we used to protect others. – Dean Nelson

  25. Charlene Stein 2021-08-28 16:45

  26. Moto-san 2021-08-28 20:17

Rocket scientist of the 1st degree! Maybe 2-3 weeks on the vent begging for his life might change his mind! Most folks like him believe in freedumb – a bleief that their personal freedom outweigh the safety and health of others!
