Noem Out of Office Campaigning in South Carolina on Patience with Opposing Views

Part-time Governor Kristi Noem was absent from the office again Monday, traveling to early-primary South Carolina to boost her 2024 Presidential campaign in front of a bunch of conservatives barbecuing their faith and freedom:

The event was billed as the largest collection of conservatives in South Carolina, and there was virtually no conservative talking point that wasn’t covered during the 10th annual “Faith and Freedom BBQ.”

The Anderson Civic Center was nearly packed on Aug. 23 with a couple thousand….

South Carolina Gov. Henry McMaster practiced his stump speech for his upcoming 2022 reelection campaign, state Attorney General Alan Wilson pledged to fight cities who impose mask mandates, and South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem used her keynote speech to spin tales of a hardscrabble Heartland life in lead to a potential 2024 presidential run [Eric Connor, “Noem, McMaster Tout Pandemic Policies, Hit GOP Talking Points During Annual Anderson BBQ,” Greenville Post and Courier, 2021.08.23].

Noem invoked the usual self-contradictory bunk about Jesus, conspiracies, and her reasonable tolerance of opposing views:

Like other speakers, Noem invoked belief in Jesus Christ as a foundation for governance and referred to a time when “girls were girls and boys were boys.”

Following a familiar theme of the Trump presidency that she fervently supported, Noem referred to a conspiracy by the media and “the left” to stoke fear in order to control the populace.

…At the end, Noem implored the audience to be patient with opposing views, saying she had convinced family members to shift ideologies through reason [Connor, 2021.08.23].

This message of reason and tolerance from the Governor who doesn’t want people moving here unless they think exactly as she does.

Update 11:15 CDT: Noem’s remarks to the BBQ crowd included this howler: “Why do I love President Trump? He is the only politician who did everything he said he was going to do.”

Like what, Kristi? Eliminate the national debt? Repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act? Boost coal jobs? Pass an infrastructure bill?

I guess Kristi heard “barbecue” and thought they meant “hogwash”.

“be patient with opposing views” lmao.
Religion can gain such a stranglehold on the brain, even using reason to counter is a constant uphill battle.
Or, did she mean using reason in the opposite direction? to convince those that do use reason to convince them of magic.

So, she’s already been on a 3-day vacation in South Carolina?

  3. Eve Fisher 2021-08-25 12:34

    Anywhere but here, eh, Kristi?

  4. james 2021-08-25 15:10

“girls were girls and boys were boys”?

Those were the days. Is she quoting Archie Bunker now?

Sure, Kristi. There was a time when women couldn’t get to the governor’s mansion either. The good ol’ days weren’t always so great.

Well..never waiver Kristi, never waver…bore straight ahead and ignore reality…stick to the talking points and if all else seems to fail, quote biblical prophecy and the Great Hypocrite. Hang in there…there’s a nomination at stake…you never know when or where lightning will strike.

Those were the days . . . people expected to hear the truth, and when politicians lied, a trusted media called them out for it. Now lying has become the default, and a partisan arm of the media magnifies those lies.

Eve, I think we all need to do Governor Noem a favor and vote her out next year. As you say, it’s quite clear Kristi doesn’t want to be here anymore.

Cory–one part of this report is incomplete….Anderson, South Carolina is a bit off the beaten path…how did the Governor get there and back…and on whose dime???

  9. Guy 2021-08-25 19:49

Cory, Arlo brings up good points. I wonder if Kristi found a billionaire to fund her latest vacation to sunny South Carolina or she made it a business/leisure trip and once again justified state funding by mixing in a stop for advocating “state business interests”.

    – What do Kristi Noem, Donald Trump, and most of the Cackalackys in SC have in common?

    – They’re all Germans and they put mustard in their BBQ sauce.

  11. jerry 2021-08-25 20:51

The do like their mustard. Speaking of sauce, thought you might like this one. This daffy dingbat and our dingbat were at the Rally together and this sanctioned person spoke in Rapid City. Boy, South Dakota and South Carolina shore know how to pick corruption.

“A US judge on Wednesday imposed sanctions on Sidney Powell, a former campaign lawyer for former US President Donald Trump, and other lawyers over a lawsuit they filed in Michigan seeking to overturn President Joe Biden’s election victory”

The judge went on to say.” Parker formally requested that a disciplinary body investigate whether the pro-Trump lawyers should be disbarred. The judge also ordered the lawyers to attend classes on the ethical requirements for filing lawsuits.
The judge said Powell and her co-counsel in the case “have scorned their oath, flouted the rules, and attempted to undermine the integrity of the judiciary along the way”. SCMP 8.26.21

Pay her as a part-time employee and cut her benefits.

  13. grudznick 2021-08-25 21:57

That’s a good idea, Mr. DaveFN. For sure pay the hourly part for the hours worked. What does a part time employee get for benefits? grudznick is OK with giving her that, on the par and up with other part time employees. What is that? And, in the interest of love and money, what should the part time wage be? People will want to know.

Have to wonder if she actually convinced a family member through reason or a state job?

  15. Guy 2021-08-25 23:18

Noem’s out campaigning in South Carolina and NOT South Dakota. Where are the Democrat candidates as Labor Day fast approaches? Here that across the Great Plains of the Rushmore State? I just hear crickets. Are we going to end up having a “Non-Election” in 2022 with a slate of three unopposed Republican candidates to be rubber-stamped? Would anyone support me if I ran as an Independent? Never mind…I hate the cheese & schmooze fest that comes with it. LOL!

Now that Cory and electoral-vote.com have informed the world that Noem is nuts and really is running for president, vice president or runner up, the residents of S.D. need to wake up and smell the coffee. Stop her from using our time, our money, and resources for her campaign. This has to stop. It should be the head line of every newspaper in S.D. and online forum. Stop her from making all of us look like fools and stop her from encouraging any more people like her to move here. For heavens sakes, somebody help us!!!!

I just want to slither to Minnesnowta today and never come back.

To Arlo Blundt –To get to Anderson one might fly into Spartanburg, SC and then drive/ride to Anderson home of Clemson University.
