First Guy Bryon Noem spent his summer continuing his tedious trek to shoot free throws (and the occasional three) in every small town in South Dakota.

Goof grief—Bryon’s been at this for four years; Lee and Jake Schoenbeck managed to shoot full rounds of golf at every course in the state in one extended summer. Never mind policymaking—the Noems can’t even recreate as diligently or productively as real Republicans like the Schoenbecks.
But hey—I might have to start liking Bryon. He went to Pennsylvania last month to ride bicycle over 330 miles along the Great Allegheny Passage and the C&O Canal Towpath, two trails that together run from Pittsburgh to Washington, DC!
That’s the spirit, Bryon! If you’re going to do sport all by yourself, why stand around on a basketball court having your picture taken? Go outside, get on a bike, and see the world while covering some miles under your own power! (Plus, no matter how hard you ride, your bicycle won’t erupt in flame like the UTV the Lead Volunteer Fire Department had to go douse out in the woods Saturday.)
Along with vacation sense, Bryon also showed some budget sense. While his wife was off hobnobbing with the national conservative glitterati at Colorado’s ritzy Park Hyatt Beaver Creek Resort and Spa, where rooms start at $675 a night, Bryon got a cozy room all to himself at the Meyersdale, PA, Inn on Main bed and breakfast, where rooms are a mere $149.
I’m glad to see Bryon breaking away from the old routine and enjoying some time by himself on the open road. Ride on, Bryon!
Does Bryon have a job?
Bryon works out. That’s it. Guy gets a trump virus check for doing that none kind of business and then gets a subsidy check for not doing business. The dude is great at looking the other way business whilst the Mrs goes trapesing off with Lewandowsky on South Dakota taxpayer’s back (is there a back metaphor in that?).
Who among you has not taken a little time to wander about and try steaks and baked taters in small towns around the state? That Mr. Noem is heathen enough to do it on a bicycle is his business. Is it a 1, 2, or 3 wheeler?
Whatever a person wants to do for aerobic activity is fine with me. I guess golf is somewhat aerobic if you walk the course. Otherwise, it doesn’t do much for you, as we can all see by Trump’s physique. Certainly biking 330 miles is going to do some good for the body. A boyhood friend, though, died suddenly while bike riding, as his heart gave out. I gave up biking when I was bucked off over the handle bars one night while taking a shortcut through Memorial Park near the Rapid City bike path. I ended up needing to wear a sling for a couple weeks. My bike was beyond repair, my budget was tight, and I needed to buy a car. I decided to buy a good pair of hiking boots and give up the bike for a while. A while turned into forever.
Hippies ride bikes, until they get too old or can afford to ride in the back seat of a Buick. Although some hippies drive themselves around in Priuses. Damned dangerous little cars for bicyclists to be around.
Mr. Noem is not a Hippie. He is part of the “Me Generation” that rediscovered the benefits of Capitalism and Materialism. When left to their own devices as they age, these folks turn to physical fitness and longevity. After all, he has to do something. I blame Disco.
It sure would be great if he would ride for the Naomi Project’s fundraiser, “Cycle to Break the Cycle” on Saturday, Oct.14. Cyclists will ride to support this good work to end labor trafficking in South Dakota. Cyclists and/or teams of cyclists and we who will sponsor them can start signing up now. http://www.cycletobreakthecycle.org This Sioux Falls-based non-profit, is leading efforts to end this horrific injustice through reaching out to workers who are vulnerable, partnering with law enforcement on investigations, and supporting survivors of labor trafficking in reclaiming their lives through direct services. To the rest of you cyclists, it would be great if you would ride for this good cause too.
Cathy B—ask him to ride in “cycle To Break the Cycle”. He’s apparently not busy. He likes a good, somewhat difficult ride. Where does it begin and end and what is the date?? A nice short letter will suffice.Too often non-profits assume their supporters are those that fully believe in the issue at hand. People have diverse interests, politics doesn’t have much to do with it. Be inclusive, broaden the tent.
grudz. I’m an old hippy. I ride my bike regularly. I do not drive a Prius either. Nor do any of my old hippy friends. I do drive a fairly rare old BMW M3. What type of stereo are you?
Nick, the Noem Insurance Agency maintains its web presence and advertises a mostly Godly staff of four helping Bryon… or maybe it’s seven staff spread out between the Bryant and Watertown offices.
Mr. Noem’s wish is what’s holding SD down while we liberal states only smile. “If it were up to us, we would turn back the hands of time to a place when everything was done with a handshake and the small towns of this state were booming.”
Try turning forward the hands of time, getting behind some new ideas and innovation and grow to your given potential. Your small towns aren’t booming because you’re not making them boom. In short, “Quit being lazy Bryon and exercise your brain’s potential! Your wife at least does something everyday.”
Slightly OT, the Noem’s marital harmony and bliss can be explained by speculation they spend about four days together annually in opposite ends of the governor’s mansion. How could any of us forget Kristi’s Twitter declaration of September 21, 2021: “…I love Byron…”
Absence and fond hearts, doncha know.
Cuckolded Bryon
Sees Rosie Palm oftener
Than he sees Kristi.
