Noem Wants Open Borders for Coronavirus

Still milking pandemic pigheadedness for political pop, Governor Kristi Noem wants us to let foreigners into the country without requiring them to be vaccinated against coronavirus:

Gov. Kristi Noem is requesting President Joe Biden lift the required proof of COVID-19 vaccination for international travelers coming into the United States.

Noem, along with 15 other Republican governors, wrote the request to Biden on Wednesday, according to a release from her office.

“The lifting of mask mandates and testing requirements for air travel were steps in the right direction,” according to the letter. “Now, you should end the requirement that all non-U.S. citizen travelers entering the Untied States be fully vaccinated against COVID-19” [Annie Todd, “Gov. Kristi Noem Asks Biden to Lift Covid-19 Vaccine Requirement for International Travelers,” Sioux Falls Argus Leader, 2022.08.10].

Wow—just a year ago, Noem was dismissing any claims to human rights by foreigners trying to enter our country, telling them, “Call me when you’re an American.” But now, when President Biden is winning on climate change, deficit reduction, and gas prices, Noem is happy to take up the banner of foreigners’ rights when she can cloak it in rump-right anti-public-health coronavirus denialism.

Don’t forget: vaccines work. And even if you get your shots and then get covid, those shots appear to reduce the chance of getting long covid.

Jaws dropping. That’s the sound we are hearing this morning.

Wasn’t she one of the rightwing fools wringing their hands about foreigners bringing disease to the US? Did they issue new talking points? It is hard to keep up.

Weren’t these the same people that were complaining about people coming across the border that weren’t vaccinated.

It seems they got all the nutcase Governors to sign on. My concern is that the requirements have become far too lax.

Anyone else concerned that the Sturgis Rally will increase spread of monkeypox, as well as coronovirus just in time for school? People are stupid, but glad to see numbers are down.

Nick, I’ve been asking people to raise that concern if they drove here on public roads.

Donald, If we see a surge in cases in Monkeypox at Sturgis, I recommend we rename it Sturgispox, or Rallypox. That would end this unfair stigmatization of monkeys, and it would be a branding opportunity for South Dakota, which will do anything for a buck.

Call us when you have some money to spend. SD will sacrifice ANYTHING for your business.

There are many poxes circulating in Sturgis, I am sure, but they’d better keep the Sturgispox up there and not be spreading it down here.

Cory, I was compelled to go to Custer on 8-7-2022 (animal rescue) and wore double masks. It was a spectacular, uncontrolled, and brawl-for-all sh*tstorm there; I cannot imagine Sturgis being any better.
But what do I know? I’m just an old woman who’s been double-masking since 2020.
In case anyone cares, doggy has a new home.

Bonnie–tell me more about Custer and the bikers. Bikers were much resented in Custer in the 70’s and they mostly just roared through. Are they stopping for drinks now? Are businesses catering to them?? I suppose. I stay out of the Hills till after Labor Day. Noem’s nonsense is just another reason to mask up and stay low.

Arlo: I stopped at The Bugling Bull restaurant for a soft drink and ordered the cheapest thing they had on their menu (onion rings for $9.99) because I was starved. The bikers were loud, obnoxious, stoned and drunk inside and outside of The Bugling Bull, parked in double rows in the middle of “Main Street” and openly smoking and drinking; two were enthusiastically beating each other (one looked EXACTLY like that f*cker from InfoWars) and their b*tches were likewise and it took me five minutes to back out of my parking spot.
Other businesses appeared to be the same; i’m guessing there’s catering going on.
    I’m staying home FOREVER.

Not the first time. Remember when her Covid policies included inviting California officers (who refused the vaccine) to move to South Dakota. Crazy stupid.

Yes. She tried to reduce the percentage of vaccinated before. Her whole Department of Health should have resigned right then and there.

She’s such a goofball. She will never get support outside of the nut base when she runs.
Vaccinations are popular now even with Trump and most of his base.
