Online Thug Threatens to Kill Rapid City Journal’s “Newsroom Full of Jews”

Some racist jerk threatens to rally “a critical mass of my fellow Whites” into “a squad of armed heroes” to shoot Rapid City Journal reporter Arielle Zionts and all the other “scum” with “jewy names” whom he thinks are pushing tyranny with the “covid hoax” and other lies.

Arielle Zionts, posting violent threat from Nazi thug, Twitter, 2020.12.15.

Ever the honest journalist and sharp Tweeter, Zionts proceeds to blow the Nazi thug away with an apt citation of federal law*:

(c) Whoever transmits in interstate or foreign commerce any communication containing any threat to kidnap any person or any threat to injure the person of another, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than five years, or both [18 U.S, Code §875: Interstate Communications, from Cornell University: Legal Information Institute, retrieved 2020.12.15].

…and facts and analysis of this stranger’s hateful threats:

Such Nazism predates Donald Trump, and it will persist post-Trump. But for four grim years, Trump has used the White House to aid and affirm Nazis and other bullies by his brutish example. The far more sterling example of the incoming President will help tamp back such Nazism and provide our children brave daily lessons in pluralistic democracy. But as Biden said in his speech last night, democracy requires that we all must work together, every day, to keep America alive and healthy. We must all work to protect journalists, Jews, Muslims, scientists, women, and other easy targets of toxic white male scapegoaters from those attackers’ lies, threats, and bitterness.

*(Investigators, consider also charges of terroristic threat and, if this Nazi thug assembles that critical mass of co-thugs, conspiracy against rights…)

” First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a socialist.

Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a trade unionist.

Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Jew.

Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.”
    — Martin Niemoller, German pastor who spent 7 years in a concentration camp

2 observations. 1. Today’s version would address the immigrants. 2. Why are the SD clergy not emulating their Christ, or their moral leaders such as Niemoller, Dietrich Bonhoeffer, Martin Luther King Jr, Pope Francis, etc.?

drumpf supporters would call this “locker room” talk or boys just being boys. Then they repeat the fallacy this hate speech is protected by the !st amendment, backed up by the 2nd amendment.

Just when I thought the atmosphere could not get any more toxic! The trumpian fringe shows up to prove me wrong, racism, xenophobia, misogyny, white supremacy, the land of the used to be free and the home of needing to be brave.

trumpism is a festering boil in the groin of amerka, my dream is to see him in shackles doing the perp walk out of the White House and then the officer in charge smacking his head on the door frame. take your maga bling, your giant ties, your orange make-up and your hair glue and stuff it your gigantic rectum you fing LOSER.

I was skeptical early on in the Trump presidency when many were comparing what was going on to Nazi Germany. This morning I watched Rick Steeves’ new 2020 episode on the rise of fascism, the latter precipitated by German losses of WW1 when brown shirt National Socialists first began roaming the streets. My willing suspension of disbelief at Steeves’ episode quickly dissolved. What I was watching spoke to what we have been witnessing these past four years—and vice versa. We have stopped short only of the trial and execution of dissenters and mass extinction of scapegoats. I can’t recommend this episode by Steeves enough.

Trumpism is fascism run by an incompetent, corrupt and unstable businessman. Imagine what could have happened if Trump was actually competent, stable and not corrupt. We still have a party and about 45 percent of the voters who support fascism, and a system of government that elevates minority rule. Watch out.

Yes, this remains a dangerous time. White supremacists remain in our White House. Forty-five continues to fan the flames, but real journalists like Arielle Zoints are fearlessly doing what they have always done, calling them out. Thank you, Arielle and Cory for so carefully watching and warning us to guard our democracy.

I should call my friends at MN Public Radio and give them the news about this. This is not good for tourism but out of state people really need to be warned about the racism problem in the Black Hills before they vacation there. Tourists want to be safe. Clean up your act, SD.

Arielle seems to be a very adept and good at her job reporter. Thankfully, she seems to understand more of the background and plight of our Native American citizens when reporting on news events regarding their issues. We need more of her kind, because she reports in an area that is known for closed, one-track minds. I hope the feds nail this Trump fan from out-of-state to the wall over his threats. Mebbe Noem could get our AG to charge him with her “Riot Boosting” law she and her patsy legislature passed last year.??!!

This is what COVID Kristi seeks to inherit: The hating, racist base that allowed Trump in the White House. John Thune, Marion Rounds and the GOP Congress caucuses aided and abetted it. These thugs have a louse-filled home in the RNC.

All Republicans are complicit by their silence and inaction or their active support of Trump, Noem and the rest of these criminals to whom I wish to thank for doing nothing useful while 300,000 Americans died painfully from COVID-19 and our economy melted down, leaving hundreds of thousands more homeless, jobless and vulnerable to the pandemic. It’s time for all Republicans to wake up and toss these criminals out of office.

“used the White House to aid and affirm Nazis and other bullies by his brutish example”

This is the kind of assertion that would get me an F on my undergraduate Philosophy term paper since it disregards intent .. and evidence .. and any supporting logic.

Citing a cause of this dumbass’s post as being because there is a white guy in office with a track record of mutual respect between himself and jewish, black and other minority communities, is an indictment of Trump’s whiteness.

This kind of skinism shouldn’t be tolerated (perhaps some residual Neanderthal DNA notwithstanding, isn’t race an artificial construct since what are perceived to be different races can mate?).

Donald hit the nail on the head. Watch out.

    Cory,

Why do you allow a fascist conspiracy theorist to troll the comment sections and link his page?

    Please explain.

John, words matter. Moral examples matter. When we raise our children, we modify our speech and behavior because we are concerned that if our kids see us behaving badly, they will model our bad behavior. When a person uses the highest office in the land as a platform to act like a bully and to excuse racism and other vile behavior, we can expect that among the billions of people listening to him, several million will take comfort in that bad example and more freely express their own hateful impulses. To deny the moral example of the Presidency is to deny the plain fact that motivates our daily parenting and other behavior.

Alex, 5g has puddled a certain troll’s brain cells and some of us humor him like we would an early onset dementia lab rat no lab assistants ever took a shine to.

Hey when I played guard for Irving School, fourth grade in Sioux Falls, we beat every other team in Sioux Falls and we had a Jewish center. It was 1962-3 and Jews ruled.
