Over 51% of South Dakotans Voted Absentee, with No Apparent Fraud

South Dakotans cast 219,074 absentee ballots in the 2020 general election, more than twice the number cast early in the 2016 general election. More than half of the votes counted in South Dakota (51.24% of the 427,529 ballots received) were submitted early. If one listened to the rank lies of Donald Trump, Rudy Giuliani, and their remaining, raving fascist clingers, one would think South Dakota’s vote must have been rife with fraud.

But in South Dakota, like in the rest of the nation, there is no evidence that this enormous surge in safe, sensible, liberty-expanding absentee voting resulted in election fraud. South Dakota election officials here rejected 602 of those 228,552 absentee ballots—0.263%—were rejected, not because of any apparent prosecutable or election-swinging fraud, but because of mundane reasons like late arrival, missing or non-matching signatures, and voters dying before the count. The absence of evidence of fraudulent absentee voting hasn’t stopped Trump lawsuits in other states with high absentee voter turnout, but he hasn’t rushed to South Dakota to protect us from our surge of absentee ballots.

Evidently absentee voting and the election process lack integrity only in places with lots of black people.

Not just black people, but only states trump lost. All legal votes in states he won.

Well, they bought in to the con man’s game, thats pretty fraudulent.

Yeah, not just states but part of states lost. Dane County and Milwaukee County in Wisconsin are recounting. Originally Trump also wanted to add Menominee County, which is also the Menominee Reservation.

So far in Dane County both candidates have lost a few votes each, with Trump losing more, but Madison precincts have yet to be recounted.

So sad, but that is exactly the reason. AND the reason the national GOP has been so harsh and hell-bent toward disenfranchising voters of color. It seems that the only people they want to vote are white people.

Since the 1980s the GOP has courted white evangelicals and sought to discourage minority voting. The increasing diversity of the U.S. population means, however, that it will becoming increasingly difficult for Republicans to the win the presidency and the house of representatives. More than likely, Mitch McConnell has taken into account the changing composition of voters. Consequently, he pushed hard to delay judicial nominees by Obama and rushed Trump’s judicial nominees through as quickly as possible because he realized time was not on his side for future conservative judicial nominations.

With regard to the success of mail in ballots and greater voter participation, these positive facts need to be emphasized to counter the preposterous claims of Trump, Giuliani and Trump sycophants, that includes you Kristi, that the election was rigged.

We keep forgetting, there is no “fraud” if the GOP wins. The new reality from Planet MAGA. (insert eye roll)

I have been an election judge in Minnehaha County for many years and this year was asked to organize the military and overseas ballot process involving 525 voters. There had never been so many overseas / military voters so a process had to be developed to make sure every vote was properly verified and then placed into the system.

We rejected one ballot because the signer did not even come close to signing the ballot the same way on the application and submission. I am so proud of the dedicated work our team did in making sure every ballot was organized and counted properly.

We work together as members of opposite parties but in the room we are only concerned with the voter being counted properly. Bob Litz has learned a lot and has done a great job fighting for our rights as voters. I wish him well in retirement!

Funny how all that vote-rigging happens only in a few select districts that we’d expect to vote strongly for Joe Biden. If I were running a nationwide plot to rig the election and ensure Biden’s election, I’d have been out stealing ballots in Trump country to lower his vote count more effectively.

Good work, Bruce, keeping the election honest and protecting the voting rights of South Dakotans overseas.

Funny of the day… drumpf paid 3 million bucks for a recount of Wisconsin’s two largest counties, the heavily minority ones, and ended up with Biden gaining 132 extra votes. The only fraud in 2020 election was drumpf and his magat supporters.
