Seiler Receives Distinguished Service Award for Career in Law

Randy Seiler, South Dakota’s only qualified candidate for Attorney General, received an award this week from the Eighth Circuit Bar Association for good lawyering. At the Judicial Conference in Des Moines Thursday, Seiler received the Richard S. Arnold Award for Distinguished Service:

Recipients of the award are honored for their professional excellence, leadership in the legal community, significant contributions of volunteer legal services in underserved communities, and service as a mentor to less-experienced lawyers or law students.

…In 1995, Randy began his career with the United States Department of Justice. As an Assistant U.S. Attorney, he led the prosecution on a number of complex crimes and earned a reputation for taking on and wining the tough cases. As the U.S. Attorney for South Dakota, Randy led a team of sixty lawyers and support staff, responsible for the prosecution of federal felony crimes and representation of the Federal Government in civil matters. Randy has served as lead counsel on over 600 Federal felony cases, tried over 70 jury trials, and is currently engaged in the prosecution of cases in Indian Country [Randy Seiler for Attorney General, press release, 2018.08.16].

Randy Seiler has a lifetime career of good lawyering and legal leadership in South Dakota. Seiler’s willingness to serve the public for at least for more years shows his dedication to the law. I challenge my readers to find any example of his Republican opponent, an unqualified full-time political campaigner who has never tried a criminal case before a jury, receiving any sort of award for comparable service and leadership in the legal profession.

Did Rvnsbrg get the award for undistinguished lack of service from his fellow lawyers? Maybe he can be the inaugural recipient of that one.

  2. Ror, Rvnsbrg gets that award on November 6, from 250,000 South Dakotans who will elect Randy Seiler Attorney General and send Jason back to his part-time unpaid sinecure stapling Jerry Miller’s papers in the Union County courthouse.

I really hope SoDak voters are smart enough to avoid the SDGOP’s “Gant 2.0.” That’s another way to reference a totally incompetent office holder,

Randy is very deserving on this honor.
