A tax revolt could be underway here in Brown County. Miffed at Brown County’s illegal property tax assessment scheme, hundreds of farmers and other owners of agricultural land are paying their property taxes “under protest.” Brown County treasurer Sheila Enderson says that protest could put a kink in local governments’ revenue hose:
The property taxes paid under protest are being transferred into a trust account, Enderson said.
“My obligation is when people pay under protest, their money is put in a trust account because we can’t give just it to the schools. Normally, the school would get a big check from us from taxes collected, but we can’t put it into the taxation stream until 30 days after they filed this. I have to wait to see if they file a lawsuit,” Enderson said.

Aberdeen Central School District business manager Tom Janish says the school’s next big quarterly receipts should come in May. Teachers, you’d better make those markers and paper supplies stretch for this final month, just in case some tax payments move from protest to litigation.

Aberdeen needs to revolt as we all do. The Russian/republican tax scams are not in anyone’s best interests but the bankers and other elites.
