Monae Johnson Ignores Official Duties in Official Twitter Banner

Election denier Monae Johnson originally headlined her 2022 campaign with the phrase “election integrity“. But now that she’s South Dakota’s chief election officer, she doesn’t bother to mention that vital phrase or anything else related to her official duties in her branding of the verified official Twitter account of the South Dakota Secretary of State’s office:

Yes, yes, Monae’s motherhood is important, as is her commitment to “God, Country, Family.” But none of those things make explicit any of the actual constitutional or statutory duties of the Secretary of State. The Secretary of State is not charged with raising children or praising any gods. The Secretary of State records and files legislators’ oaths, certifies statewide petitions for ballot questions and candidates, collects campaign finance filings, manages elections and corporate filings, makes sure no one monkeys with the state seal, and various other ministerial functions. A lot of those functions have to do with the Secretary of State’s most important duty, to carry out the laws prescribed by the Legislature to “establish reasonable requirements to insure the integrity of the vote.”

You’d think at least some of those functions would win some mention in the Secretary of State’s official Twitter banner, to let the people who elected her (and folks new to the state, folks who’ve never voted before, folks just becoming interested in how their government works) know just what important services she performs for them.

How much longer until the next election?

Apparently she’s taking political advice from the Master, Julie-Frye-Mueller.

    No Way, Monae
Once upon a time in South Dakota state,
An evangelical Christian was elected to fate,
She’s become your Secretary of State,
But unfortunately, she’s become distracted of late.

She’s chosen to see the world with a narrow view,
And can’t see things from a different hue,
She mostly cares about her evangelical belief,
And forgets about others, causing them grief.

The people of South Dakota are a diverse lot,
A mix of religions, culture, and thought.
But the Secretary only sees things one way,
And forgets about those who don’t choose to pray.

She focuses on her agenda and forgets her role,
To serve all the people, should be the ultimate goal,
But alas, she gets lost in her own fervor,
And fails to serve all, causing quite a stir.

So let this be a lesson for all to see,
That in serving the people, it’s important to see,
That everyone sees things a little differently,
And it’s your job Monae to serve them equally.

Election denier/election integrity Oxymoron or really bad joke?

  5. grudznick 2023-06-23 19:55

She is kinda pretty, you have to admit.
But a vacuous doll, without a brain, puppet for the heinous Frau Mueller, henchwoman for the Clan Mulally.

We’ve got an entire administration full of airheads…absolutely amateur hour in Pierre. The state is adrift.

Trainwreck. She remains the state office I watch the most, as someone will have to actively prevent her from violating the constitution.

She never denied any election results, herself. She demurred when a reporter asked her if she accepted the validity of the 2020 election. She didn’t want to answer that.
She got the job by making election deniers believe she agreed with them, then she dumped them..

She hasn’t dumped those election deniers. She’s just keeping her head down and avoiding doing her duty as chief election officer, which is to forthrightly and vigorously defend the real integrity of the elections system.

the ethics-less republican “camp” created and resulting in such ultra-partisan incompetent and/or corrupt criminal racist misogynist creatures like grudz, Noem, Rhoden, most of the legislators, Thune, Rounds, Mitch McConnell, and even Green, Gates, Boebert, DeSantos, Abbot, Zinke, Paxton etc., include SCOTUS. (And SD Secretary of State!)

Alito, like Scalia partied on the billionaires’ tab, and now caught at unethical acceptance of conservative influence peddling, Alito described a $100,000 seat on a billionaire fisherman’s private jet as “lodging” exempt from disclosure as illegal influence on matters he decided before the court.

This is lodging, in Alaska, too, i guess: https://cdn.theculturetrip.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/06/hcf35h-1024×576.jpg

God loves Leonard Leo, apparently. And Alito is really mad in the shadows!

    Gaetz, obviously. Sorry.

Thune packed SCOTUS while fearing Democrats are packing the packed 6-3 SCOTUS conservative pack of Federalist Society listed conservative (and corrupt) judges. He is so polite about it though!

Obviously Monae is going to cheat as packed Secretary of State. Just like our senior senator. Politely, well…we’ll see? Corrupt Republicans haven’t been too polite these days.

Thune said: “For the last seven years, President Obama has attempted to circumvent Congress and the will of the American people with unconstitutional, overreaching regulations. The Senate Republican majority was elected to be a check and balance to President Obama. The American people deserve to have their voices heard on the nomination of the next Supreme Court justice, who could fundamentally alter the direction of the Supreme Court for a generation. Since the next presidential election is already underway, the next president should make this lifetime appointment to the Supreme Court.”

Waaay before the next presidential election, eh, John?

    https://www.thune.senate.gov/public/index.cfm/2016/3/thune-statement-on-obama-nominee-to-supreme-court

Thune said: “While Democrats tried – on a purely partisan basis – to block this nomination, Republicans ensured Judge Gorsuch received an up-or-down vote, and he was ultimately confirmed”.

“ensured … up-or-down vote”—after a hearing. SSSURE, John, this time!

    https://www.thune.senate.gov/public/index.cfm/2017/4/thune-statement-on-confirmation-of-justice-neil-gorsuch

Thune said: “It’s unfortunate that Democrats’ belief that the only good judges are liberal judges is preventing them from giving an outstandingly qualified nominee like Judge Kavanaugh a fair hearing.”

“Outstandingly qualified” rapist that Trump FBI failed to vett, you mean. And a “fair” rather than NO hearing, John, like you gave Merrick Garland?

    https://www.thune.senate.gov/public/index.cfm/2018/7/thune-kavanaugh-s-qualifications-are-outstanding

Thune said: “The president had a strong list of principled and conservative jurists from which he could have … nominated. I hope [Democrats] abandon their partisan and undemocratic threats as the Senate turns its attention to fulfilling its constitutional duty of providing its advice and consent on the president’s nominee.”

Oh yeah, John, advice and consent, 30 some days before “the next presidential election,” eh? And give her a hearing, no less. You bet! Those partisan and undemocratic threats from Democrats, you say!!

The Trump “list” is from Leonard Leo, billionaires’ long time Federalist Society SCOTUS packer. Jesus loves him yes i know.

Monae: “Mother. God. Country.” We don’t need no stinkin’ rules, eh, Monae? Just like the senior senator.
