Epitomizing SDGOP’s Moral Failure, Young Republicans Feature Ravnsborg as Speaker

When I read that the South Dakota Young Republicans were concluding their convention with a pub crawl, the teetotaler in me predictably cringed. The YRs say they are “working diligently to engage the 18-40-year old voter base,” so why cap a big event with a boozefest that excludes the youngest targets of that engagement?

But even more cringeworthy was the Young ‘Pubs’ featuring of killer and Attorney Colonel Jason Ravnsborg as a speaker at their event:

Talk about tone-deaf. Or maybe it’s just a matter of not caring how it looks.

But the fact the South Dakota Young Republicans invited Attorney General Jason Ravnsborg to speak at their conference Saturday in Sioux Falls on the nine-month anniversary of his fatal crash just seems … astoundingly poor taste.

The fact that it (pictured above in a photo from Ravnsborg’s Facebook page) was held at a beer distributorship followed by an alcohol-soaked party only adds to the poor choices made on public display.

Ravnsborg, a first-term Republican, had been at another GOP event, the Spink County Lincoln Day Dinner in Redfield, on Saturday, Sept. 12, when he struck and killed Joe Boever just west of Highmore [Tom Lawrence, “Talk About Tone-Deaf: Ravnsborg Speaks to Young Republicans at Beer Distributorship Before Pub Crawl,” South Dakota Standard, 2021.06.14].

Even alcohol-free, Ravnsborg’s appearance at the YRs’ event casts shame and humiliation upon the South Dakota Republican Party. The party hosts an event to encourage young people to tear up the Constitution and install a fascist dictatorship participate in politics, and the guy they drag out to promote the cause is a lying lawyer and distracted driver whose political career in any less dysfunctional polis would be as dead and buried as the man he slaughtered nine months ago?

Jason Ravnsborg epitomizes his one-party regime’s complete lack of competence and accountability. In that regard, as truth in advertising, Ravnsborg’s pre-pub-crawl appearance at a Republican event is fitting. But the party’s willingness to give such a schmuck a platform, not to mention power, rankly demonstrates South Dakota’s need for new political management.

But hey, maybe the Young Pubs had fun afterward playing Jason’s police interrogation videos on their phones and drinking every time Ravnsborg squeaked that he didn’t do anything wrong….

You’re right, Cory. They should have invited the heart and soul of South Dakota’s patriotic conservative revival.

I’m available most days from here on out.

    That convention would be lit.

Nothing wrong with a pub crawl except the alcohol.

But hey, it’s what we do in the midwest.

    We drink.

    A lot.

    Sadly.

Dale is about as smart as the fighter jocks and their military big wigs and political Neanderthals that think the general public going about its business mid morning in RC needs to have a $50,000 tax payer funded low level after-burner fly-by at less than a thousand feet above ground. On West Boulevard. DEAFENING. Just now. 60,000 people, distracted. It annoys me.

His comments are inane drivel. Every time. Dangerous. He lies like Trump and his trolls, and it is a disservice to give him airtime here.

Cory. It seems you’ve given up your political aspirations to become a preacher?

You can’t legislate morality or get elected by telling people what to do.

You get elected by displaying tolerance for all and telling people what “you’re” going to do to make a difference.

Well….the Young Republicans are rabid rats….I’m certain they learned a great deal about “How to Win Friends and Influence People” from our besotted Attorney General.

Well you know John Dale, when we moved to Florida from South DakotaI I was shocked by how little people drank. This was Sarasota. Then when Miami Basel started I started our student run to Miami Beach for three days to see the best art from around the world. Miami knows how to drink, closing time is 5AM. It makes South Dakota look like Cory says he is. Everything is relative.

Well, Mr. Anderson, if you’re like me and hang out in The Villages or Punta Gorda you’d understand how people there eat dinner at 4pm, don’t drink quite as much as they used to, and go to bed early. But down there in the town of Miami, oh, my goodness, they stay up all night and cavort around the statuaries.

Congrats, Cory. This post was featured on my Google News feed instead of KELO land news, Big time, dude.

Porter, I lack certain minimum requirements that prevent my success in either profession.

But Porter, I can tell political parties one thing they should not do: don’t have an unrepentant killer who refuses to resign his elected position despite his complete lack of competence and public confidence be a featured speaker at your recruitment events!

Mike! Tell Google to send me more juice! I won’t go drinking with the Young Pubs on their crawl (or the Young Dems, or Young Libs…), but I’ll drink Google juice all day long.

Perhaps young “republicans” (mind melded by their right wing parents) will some day have a real lawyer like this U Tx law professor inspire them with reality:

    ‘@steve_vladeck
Something tells me that the commentators who spent so much of the past week making hay out of daylight between Biden’s White House and DOJ will have rather less to say about the documents released today showing how Trump tried to *force* DOJ to challenge the election in #SCOTUS.’

I am certain from the lack of character shown by our, and MANY other RAGA AGs, they have no sense of ethics, professionalism and that Ravnsborg openly, embarrassingly embraces.

Cory, sir. You can tell the SDGOP anything you choose but we both see how they talk about you over on Pat Plower’s Victim Blog.

I sneak on and defend you, just to make their security system overload and Pat go apoplectic. #grins

Ocala is my stomping ground, grudz, you old flamingo.

At one time the Lansings ruled Central Florida.

    Before Disney, that is.

    @robertjdenault
He wanted every swing state he lost sued by DOJ to block their votes. So transparent. So dumb.

    So dangerous.

    TRUMP/MCONNELL/John “yes boss” THUNE.

Young Republicans – when you think of how many of them probably attended Dusty’s TARS camp and listened to Maria Butina back in 2015 it makes sense that they’d want to host Ravnsborg.
