Soros, Koch Team Up to Make America Diplomatic Again

South Dakota Republicans are committed to protecting us (except when they are not) from George Soros and other out-of-state interlopers. Surely then Don Haggar will quit his job and South Dakota Republicans will stop playing palsy-walsy with Americans for Prosperity now that out-of-state Charles Koch is teaming up with out-of-state Soros to influence foreign policy away from thoughtless Trumpist warmongering:

Billionaires George Soros, whom The Boston Globe calls “an old-fashioned New Deal liberal,” and Charles Koch, one half of the conservative, small-government-touting Koch brothers, are joining forces to finance a new think tank called the Quincy Institute for Responsible Statecraft, an homage to former President John Quincy Adams. The organization’s goal is to end the United States’ “forever war” and adopt an entirely new approach to foreign policy, one defined not by threat of force, but diplomacy and restraint.

The moniker makes sense considering Adams once said that the U.S. “goes not abroad in search of monsters to destroy. She is the well-wisher to the freedom and independence of all” [“George Soros and Charles Koch Teaming up to Change U.S. Foreign Policy,” The Week, 2019.07.01].

Diplomacy and restraint?! Oh no—those out-of-staters are going to wreck South Dakota’s economic development plans! Now John Thune will have to turn back those B-21 bombers and turn Ellsworth Air Force Base into a training base for diplomats.

(But you know, diplomats get bigger paychecks than Air Force personnel; a shift from military muscle to daring diplomacy could bring a peace dividend to a Koch-Sorosed Rapid City!)
