Box Elder RV Mailboxer Runs for Congress in Alaska

Surprise! There’s another South Dakota Democrat besides Tim Bjorkman running for U.S. House! Or at least that’s what you might think of you looked at the new Federal Election Commission statement of organization filed by Carol “Kitty” Hafner.

On Friday, Hafner created “Carol Hafner for Congress” and filed her statement of candidacy. Hafner lists her campaign address as 514 Americas Way Suite 2296, Box Elder, SD 57719. Yet her filings and her website make clear that she’s running for Alaska’s lone House seat:

Carol Hafner for Congress, screen cap, 2018.05.28.
Carol Hafner for Congress, screen cap, 2018.05.28.

Hafner lays out issues that mark her as a labor/rainbow/Sanders Democrat:

Carol Hafner for Congress, screen cap, 2018.05.28.

Our man Bjorkman was out in Pine Ridge, Rapid City, and Spearfish this weekend. Maybe Hafner could make a special trip to pick up her campaign mail in person at the Box Elder RV mailbox store and hold a joint campaign event with her real South Dakota counterpart.

Wherever Carol Hafner may be RVing, she has until November 6 to get herself to Alaska and claim a campsite: Article I Section 2 of the Constitution only requires that Representatives inhabit the state in which they are chosen “when elected.”

I am sure lickspittle Krebs gave her the okay to vote in South Dakota, Pennington County gave her cheap vehicle registration, the list of corruption continues on and on. These mailbox addresses along with Walmart addresses should be illegal for voting purposes. It is one thing to fleece your home state of tax revenue it is quite another to contaminate the voting booths of local South Dakota elections.

OK, think bigger picture. Maybe we should have one of those Article V things. Then we could do away with the truly obsolete Electoral College and continue down the list and fix a bunch of other anachronisms. Residency? I am willing to reconsider literacy. Wanna play? What would a true democracy look like in this century? “Representatives” should probably represent something – but whom, or what do they represent now?

Ah, but I checked, Jerry, and there is no Carol Hafner on the voter rolls in ZIP 57719.

Be careful, Curt—I’m hearing some South Dakota left-wingers agitating for that Article V convention right along with the Koch followers who want to go Article V to put government in a straitjacket with a balanced budget amendment.

I welcome Carol Hafner to Alaska! We need progressive Democrats who refuse to do the two step with Oil and Gas Companies. Carol Hafner has pledged to fight against drilling in the Artic National Wildlife Refuge and to support a single payer health care system in Alaska. Businesses can no longer afford to overlook the insane cost of healthcare. A single payer system would allow business to flourish in Alaska and people would get the care they need. Carol Hafner for Congress, indeed!

Donate to Carol Hafner’s campaign and save the Artic National Wildlife Refuge!!!!

So Kimberly Slone, why does Carol Hafner running for office in Alaska, have a Box Elder, South Dakota address? Why not embrace that wonderful, beautiful state where she wants to get elected and make her address there.

Jerry, I agree with you. If Carol Hafner does not come to Alaska and campaign, there’s no way I’m going to vote for her. She could be anyone. Alaskans aren’t stupid. Some of us though are looking for a progressive option when we go to the polls.

Jerry, I can answer your question. It’s cold here. Like hella cold, you even need heat in the summer, also, winters are looong. People do not live in RV parks year round unless they have one that is insulated for the sub-zero and even one of those would be pricey to run from at least October to May. Gas and groceries are a bit better in Anchorage and Fairbanks, but not South Dakota affordable.

Kimbery Sloan may boast about voting for Carol “Kitty” Hafner, but without a generous campaign coffer Hafner will have a tough time campaigning anywhere but Anchorage, Fairbanks, and a few other places on the road system. You have to fly everywhere else and the places you can drive to are expensive. Stop at a diner for lunch? Fork over $20.00 bucks for a burger, want fries too? Add $5. Want to go cheap? Eat at Mc’Ds or Taco Belle for two to three times what South Dakotans pay. It’s summer here and everyone raises prices when there isn’t snow on the ground. So, Good luck with that.

Plus, I think Alaskans will welcome a carpet-bagger candidate about as well as South Dakotans would. I’ll bet you about a billion dollars that Kimberly Sloan is a your average Millenial single issue voter (well, 2 issue voter, protecting bunnies and healthcare), if she’s even real and not Hafner or a friend/family member doing “press”. She seems to know an awful lot about hafner considering the only information available is Aunt Kitty’s website.

I was born in and spent most of my life in South Dakota with a jaunt to the East Coast for a decade. I have now lived in Alaska for a decade and I am still learning things about this gigantic state. It’s challenges are as vast as its size. We have the same issues as the coastal states, the plains states, the island state, the rural states, the coal and oil states, fishing states, major seaports, rural healthcare issues, and more.

Miss Kim’s very bad advice on healthcare should be ignored. A few years ago Alaska’s Medicaid expansion bill failed in the state house, so the governor just made it an executive order. Within two years the state had to decrease what they pay for services by 2/3. Our hospital, however, is now treating more patients, but getting paid less to do it. Make sense? Only to a liberal. Ohhh, but we’re a rich hospital, right? Yeah, super rich. Because we are a rural hospital we depend on Federal grants for quite a few of our programs, plus, basic operations are expensive; our ambulance is an airplane and we run clinics in 30 villages. The federal government has been holding back on their support more and more. It won’t change with “Medicare for everyone”. And about that. A friend of mine in Canada needed a knee replacement. Wait time? Two years. Not two years from “uh oh, you have bad arthritis and will need a knee replacement one day.” Two years from “This is horrible, let’s schedule the surgery, you’ll have to suck it up, buttercup”.

So, yeah, bring it on Carpet-bagger Kitty. Can’t wait to send you running with your tail tucked. Actually, I hope you win the primary, will be super easy for the Republican to beat you in the end.

PS: Miss Kimberly Sloan, Since you suffer from an American liberal education I included the following to get you up to speed. You’re welcome. (my favorite part? “unscrupulous opportunist’, seems about right)
