WNAX asks South Dakota Chamber of Commerce chief David Owen what he thinks of the main gubernatorial candidates. While Owen talks baseball on the Republicans, he speaks to the actual merits of the Democrat:
…this could be an enormously interesting race. In the Republican primary, both have won multiple statewide elections. On the Democrats’ side, Senator Sutton is as reasonable, solution-oriented a person as has sought the Governor’s office in a long time [David Owen, in “South Dakota 2018 Governor’s Race Worth Watching,” WNAX, 2017.11.27].
Consider that another reminder from South Dakota’s business community that they want a practical, policy-oriented campaign and government, and that if Republicans fall for the crazy racism stirring their base, they may protect their business interests by backing leaders like Senator Sutton.
Interesting. While I’m not too familiar with how much sway David Owen would hold – this seems like a pretty big deal for him to make a comment like this about Sutton.
