Got a question for Congresswoman Kristi Noem? Come to the Brown County Fair on Friday. According to the Aberdeen American News, South Dakota’s lone Representative will be on the fairgrounds sometime Friday along with SDGOP attorney general candidate Jason Ravnsborg.
Noem’s visit may overlap with that of the Democrat who wants to replace her, Tim Bjorkman, who will be at the Brown County Democrats’ excellent fair booth Thursday evening and Friday morning.
Here’s the full roster of scheduled political appearances at the Brown County Fair, as published in today’s Aberdeen American News:
- Tuesday: Billie Sutton, Democratic candidate for governor, 5 p.m.
- Wednesday: State Auditor Steve Barnett, candidate for secretary of state; Josh Haeder, staffer for Senator Rounds and candidate for state treasurer.
- Thursday: Public Utilities Commissioner Chris Nelson.
- Friday: U.S. Rep. Kristi Noem, Republican candidate for governor; Jason Ravnsborg, candidate for attorney general.
- Saturday: Dusty Johnson, candidate for U.S. House; Public Utilities commissioner Kristie Fiegen.
No word on Ravnsborg’s competitors for A.G., Charles McGuigan, John Fitzgerald, and Lance Russell. John Thune, Marty Jackley, and Shantel Krebs tell AAN they are coming but haven’t set times yet.
Ravnsborg goes everywhere he has no employment.
Ravensborg, so like F. Lee Bailey in that regard then. Unemployed and living above a salon, broke as a joke.
Cory, does Tim Bjorkman have an Act Blue account that you know of? Or someplace other than face book to contribute to his campaign like Pay Pal? Can’t find anyplace for that.
Jerry, here’s the link to contribute to Tim Bjorkman’s campaign through ActBlue (can also be found by going to his website and then clicking on the “donate tab”: https://secure.actblue.com/donate/timbjorkman

I can understand how Ravnsborg needs to drive all over the state for more than a year before convention to build up the name recognition he needs to win the nomination (and remember, he’s just trying to build strength for a convention nomination, not a primary win). But yeah, that has to cut into his regular employment (unless he’s doing an awesome job of lawyering from the road). It makes me wonder if we’ve created an unhealthy system where the only people who can run for office are the retired, the independently wealthy, and the already famous. How much sense does it make to spend twice, three, four times the salary that the public job pays just to win that job?
Ravnsborg would like to think he’s F Lee Bailey. That’s pretty good. The guy is a geek.
Thank you Malachi and Cory for the information. Cory asks a very interesting question
“How much sense does it make to spend twice, three, four times the salary that the public job pays just to win that job?”
Legislators and other elected officials should be asked that. Where will they get the money to pay themselves back for a year or so off? The wage is not that high for a practicing attorney that is worth a damn. No, the real money comes from corruption. That is the sweet spot. We have been that way since territory days. That is why they fight like hell to keep the gravy train going for their lucrative payoffs from the lobbyists and outside interests.
(And sorry to double advise! Malachi submitted the ActBlue info first, but that note went to my moderation queue, and I replied before checking waiting comments. Thanks, Malachi, for helping!)
Come to the Brown County Fair and ask Noem, Bjorkman, and friends about that potential for corruption!
