The Trump Postal Service isn’t serving South Dakota well. Even Trump-enabling Senator Marion Michael Rounds has to admit that Trump Mail fudged its figures to hide how badly it was degrading service to our rural state:
“They cheated the system. They didn’t tell the truth in terms of how long it’s actually taking for mail service to get delivered,” Rounds said.
Rounds said a review from the Postal Service’s Inspector General’s Office showed the US changed the rules in how it measured timely delivery.
Under the old rules, the clock started once a piece of mail was postmarked. Under the new system, no one started counting until the piece of mail had reached a regional processing center, meaning up to two days were not being counted.
“They have determined that the postal service in South Dakota is not delivering in a timely fashion,” Rounds said [Brian Allen, “Rounds Skeptical of USPS Delivery Fix in South Dakota,” KSFY, 2026.09.24].
Come on, Senator Rounds—after ten years of Trump running your party, you can’t still be surprised his administration would cheat South Dakota, can you?
Mail is important. Good on Mr. Sen. Rounds for routing out the slackardness in the USPS. grudznick’s local letter carrier drives one of those funny little vehicles and is spiffy and prompt, but the goons out-of-state are intentionally slowing down my mail.

When you personally know somebody who scored 100% on the civil service exam, added points because he’s a veteran, and was never considered for a job, you know what the problem is. He’s a white male, that’s why he didn’t get a job.
They aren’t hiring the best applicants, they are meeting DEI quotas.
I am a white female and have scored higher than most men on the census test and others, however veterans got the job because of added points. I was more qualified but didn’t complain because I honor vets and believe they deserve preference. I’ve never seen a veteran denied when they have a higher total score. There is no DEI in SD.
Today’s intersection? Diversity, equity, and inclusion: Trump state economies are in the toilet according to Creighton University’s Ernie Goss but it’s not about laziness, it’s about Maria shrugged, if you will.
South Dakota is home to about 39,900 recent immigrants or about 4.3% of the state’s population and more than 280 refugees resettled in South Dakota during the fiscal year 2024 compared to 206 in all of 2023. So, the extreme white wing in South Dakota is losing it not because nearly half of students qualify for free or reduced lunches and some 3,500 students receive special education support but because new residents in South Dakota are migrants from Muslim countries like Afghanistan, South Sudan and Ethiopia.
Nebraska and Iowa are also seeing surges in immigration but Brookings and Moody Counties in South Dakota are homes to more people from Guatemala and other Central American nations.
Religionism is what these climate refugees and migrant workers have in common with their Midwest counterparts and “pro-life” is simply code for white people breeding because African-Americans terminate pregnancies at about the same per capita rate as white people do but don’t take their jobs. Latinas, however, have fewer abortions per capita and the extreme white wing of the Republican Party knows it’s hemorrhaging jobs to Latinos.
The post office really does need to get its ship in order. Ordered some wormer for my dogs. Tracking shows it started in Wisconsin, went to Florida, and last time I checked it was in Kansas. That package has seen more of the U.S.than a lot of South Dakotans.
Trump is the ultimate DEI recipient. He was terrible at everything except his fake boardroom show. However, despite being orange he was too large for Wonka’s factory and not athletic enough (not to mention those bone spurs) to be Syracuse’s mascot. So voters took pity.

Ten years of Trump and the whole country is falling apart. Postal service be damned, I’m driving to my county seat to vote tomorrow, a 35-mile round trip. Then I know my ballot is counted.
I do not vote in person anymore because of the lines during flu and covid season. They have it in a gym and the line goes out the door. Everyone is breathing down each other’s back, or worse yet, coughing.
Algebra: to make your claim that DEI caused an unqualified person to get a job over a qualified, you need more than the claim of one getting 100% on the Civil Exam. What was the score of the person who got the job? What was each’s experience? Was there also an interview? Otherwise you are just rehashing the old racist trope: “they’re takin’ r jobs.”
Watching short guy Earth hater Mike Rounds being forced to the center in an election year is comical in its irony, for sure. “During the first Trump term, Rounds supported the administration’s efforts to fill the vacant seats on the USPS Board of Governors, which ultimately allowed the board to appoint Louis DeJoy in 2020. Rounds consistently supported Republican-led budget resolutions that encouraged federal agencies to streamline operations, cut administrative overhead, and reduce spending.”
Rounds crashing to the center: “GOP Sen. Mike Rounds, who sits on the Appropriations Cmte, says Trump’s $810 million unilateral rescission undermines a funding deal, including GOP goals of more military money: “It’s going to make it very hard for us to actually get an outcome in the next appropriations bill.”
Larry, YES. At some point these poor decisions have to come home to roost. I’m glad some still remember the holes these enablers dug to bury their constituents in.
Mr. Rounds spent $200,000 more taxpayer dollars than any other congress member for personal airline travel!
Rounds sure knows how to work under the radar. Mentioned earlier, Rounds is responsible for creating the problem in the first place with the USPS. He started complaining about it when Biden was in office. Now he is front and center stage trying to fix things he messed up. Kind of like his mentor, Trump.
When Rounds was governor, he sure loved public education. When in Washington, he led the charge to axe the Department of Education.
Rounds is on the Intelligence committee, which is ironic. He has no intelligence, just allegiance to his mentor.
Actually, he’s starting to look like him too, with all the weight. He may even wear the same shoes. I imagine him with orange hair, scary.
Let’s not forget what he did under the radar in S.D.
We need to vote him out of office.
Some people here are driving 20 miles to the county seat to deliver their property taxes and vote at the same time.
Last spring, more than a few residents’ taxes were received late so their names appeared in the paper, had to pay a late fee, and cut another check. All that because the postal service sent the mail to Sioux Falls, Fargo, Bismark, and then the county seat. All that distance for a 20-mile delivery. No wonder the USPS is bankrupt.
Because Covid shots have not been offered, (flu shots have), some people feel uncomfortable standing in line in an enclosed area. They have usually voted by mail but will not do so because of the route for delivery.
