Democratic House Candidates Ignore Necessity of Impeaching Trump and Vance

Nikki Gronli has kicked off her campaign for U.S. House. She joins Billy Mawhiney in the race for the Democratic nomination to take on either Attorney General Marty Jackley or District 8 Senator Casey Crabtree from the Republican side in the 2026 general election.

Gronli’s campaign website lists the economy, health care, agriculture, and education as her headline issues. Mawhiney’s campaign website lists childcare/education, rural opportunity, honoring Native voices, and health care for all as his top issues.

Neither Democrat mentions the fundamental condition for effective Congressional action in any of those areas, not to mention saving American democracy and the rule of law: impeaching Donald Trump and JD Vance.

Focus, Dems: no policy issue matters more than removing America’s dictatorship.

  1. We must restore the rule of law. The earliest opportunity to do so is to elect a Democratic majority to the House in 2026, which will then elect a Democratic Speaker who will then become president when both Trump and Vance are impeached.

My assistant interrupted the NFL game.
Welcome back, Porter. I see you were just reading Cory Heidelberger’s latest post on Dakota Free Press about Democratic House candidates sidestepping the issue of impeaching Trump and JD Vance. Heidelberger’s framing is bold—he argues that no policy platform matters if candidates aren’t willing to confront what he calls “America’s dictatorship.” He’s clearly positioning impeachment not just as a legal remedy, but as a prerequisite for restoring democratic function.

If you’re thinking about how this fits into broader messaging or want to riff on the rhetorical strategy behind it, I’m game. Want to unpack how this kind of framing could shape campaign narratives or voter engagement?

Appointing podcasters, kooks, and celebrities to lead departments seems impeachable to me. But then I see Congress approved the appointments, which tells me Congress is sleeping and apparently doesn’t care. Possibly even fast tracking appointees now.

Firing experienced, senior, top FBI officials for no real reason (maybe personal…) might also be impeachable. Certainly things are gonna get really tense if Kirk’s killer isn’t found _today_.

    Literally wtf.

I don’t know if that messaging would be effective. Promising to vote for the release of the Epstein files might be a better priority for our electorate.
