Roe Petition May Have 60K Signatures by November; Hansen Vows to Challenge

Dakotans for Health is circulating a petition for a constitutional amendment to codify Roe v. Wade in South Dakota. D4H chief Rick Weiland tells KELO-TV that he expects to have 60,000 signatures (the minimum required is 35,017) by mid-November to put the initiated amendment to a statewide vote in the 2024 general election. Representative Jon Hansen, whose effort to harass and block petition circulators is apparently failing, vows to foul democracy by challenging the signatures Weiland plans to submit:

Weiland’s perspective is that South Dakotans want the voters, rather than the Legislature, to decide whether abortion should be legal. He cited a Mason-Dixon poll that found 65% of respondents preferred a public vote. “So we know we’re on solid ground in terms of letting the people decide,” Weiland said. He expects to file about 60,000 signatures in mid-November.

Hansen said his side will be ready when the petitions are filed. “We’re going to very closely scrutinize those signatures,” he said. If the question qualifies, Hansen said South Dakota will be the latest battleground.

“We’ve raised enough money to sort of fulfill our mission today,” he said about the Life Defense Fund’s finances. “If they do make the ballot, you can assume millions of dollars from pro-abortion groups will flow into the state, and we’re going to have to match that” [Bob Mercer, “Life Defense Fund Fights to Keep Abortion Off SD Ballot,” KELO-TV, 2023.08.17].

I don’t know, Jon—if Dakotans for Health submits 60,000 signatures, you’re going to have to prove that 25,000 of them are somehow bogus. That means finding a signature validity rate of 58.3% or less. You and your Big Pharma allies did succeed in invalidating Weiland’s petition for a prescription price drug cap initiative in 2018 by demonstrating a validity rate of 55.49%. But on the last initiative petition Weiland submitted, for Medicaid expansion in May 2022, D4H achieved a validity rate of 74.26%, which was pretty close to the national average for initiative petitions in 2022. One would expect that D4H has studied its Medicaid petition processes and results and used that experience to improve its circulation practices for this go-round. Plus, D4H knows you are coming to check their petition, and thanks to the Eighth Circuit‘s and the Legislature‘s rejection of your weak arguments, Dakotans for Health has extra time to review its petitions, correct correctable errors, and collect more signatures for cushion before submitting the final petition to the Secretary of State. So I’m thinking, Jon, you’re going to have to work really hard—much harder, apparently, than you’ve worked to prevent South Dakota voters from signing the petition in the first place—to invalidate enough signatures to disenfranchise tens of thousands of petition signers and hundreds of thousands of South Dakotans who want to vote on this very important issue.

    I trust the people of South Dakota will apply common sense to this issue, as they have twice before. Taliban, like Hansen, are driven by their narrow-sighted, phony religious piety and extremism. They expose themselves like skunks in a cotillion. And, as voters have done twice before, the Taliban will lose at the ballot box.

    Since Hansen and his ilk learned nothing from the second kick of the mule, I fully expect he and his ilk will continue circumventing the will of the people of South Dakota after the 2024 election.

    Rep Hansen and SOS Johnson have demonstrated their contempt for democracy and should never be anywhere near the petition stacks without supervision from D4H(who should wear body cameras even).
    They are not trustworthy since their God comes before their duty and their oath and their people and morality. (Such choices should exclude individuals from legislating).
    However, we believe our democracy comes first, like real good people with honor. And, if we choose a God, she is down with doing the right thing for each other.
    This is why religion is not permitted in our politics because it poisons the whole pile when individuals choose their God over our constitution.
    Stay professional and honor your oath, regardless of your pastor’s version of his expectations. It is a matter of whether or not our nation, conceived in liberty, of the people, by the people, for the people, shall perish from the good earth.
    Btw, D4H are some circulatin sonsabitches. Good job!

    I know plenty of people who DO NOT want legalized Abortion, I have read the proposed law, it is terribly written, and should be challenged. Those signatures BETTER be all S.D Addresses/Domcilists. IF NOT, we will get our day in court.

  4. 11. One fifth of all pregnancies end in miscarriage or as some would call God working in mysterious ways but when a person chooses to terminate a pregnancy the creator doesn’t condone that decision? How does that work?

  5. 96Tears

    I also know plenty of people who do not want legalized abortion. Fine. Big whoop. They are in the minority, but if they don’t want one, don’t have one. Stop playing stupid.

    Despite the obstruction tactics and simply proven pack of lies from the Taliban where ever signatures are publicly gathered, those petitions will have more than enough valid signatures of authentic, truthful South Dakotans who have the integrity to stand up for the restoration of basic rights of for all women. Get your head ready for the third kick from that mule. It’s gonna hurt like hell.

    We The People of the Republic. A collection of independent counties of whom have a right to believe was we want.

    Don’t worry, eventually. We are gonna utilize the Northwest Ordinance of 1787 as lawful means to restore the Republic where we petition and get 30,000 people as the constitution says. The N.W Ordinance lays out the legal means of establishing our temporary government behind a governor, two secretaries, a Ambassador to Represent us in D.C.

    Using the Precinct Strategy, we will rebuild the rebuild back to our original foundation.

    Mr. Z. is citing an Ordinance passed by the defunct Congress of the Confederation. I wonder if he’s related to Philip Pell. (Look it up yourself, Mr. Z)

  9. Nick Nemec

    Mr. Zitterich you are even crazier than I thought. You will fail miserably with any attempt to use the Northwest Ordinance to establish new states by subdividing existing states. I don’t know if the Northwest Ordinance allows that type of tinkering with the established order but even if it does your new renegade “states” plan will never get through Congress. Please stop with the crackpot ideas it makes you look and sound like a crackpot.

    Typical projection from Rep. Hansen

    If they do make the ballot, you can assume millions of dollars from pro-abortion groups will flow into the state

    He wishes his club was grassroots instead of astroturf.
    See, for women, and the people who trust women over big government, voting to do the right thing has nothing to do with commercial advertisements and pumping money into an insidious network of clerics to infiltrate government seats.
    If you cannot promise to honor the constitution over a God that doesn’t condone our constitution, it is your duty to step down.
    May I even suggest a good look into any beliefs you hold that conflict with the premise that all of us are created equally. If your God isn’t down with that, good for you- don’t run for office.

  11. All Mammal

    Take a look at places run by theocracies, Mr. Z. They’re miserable af. Iran, Afghanistan, Gilead have to guard their borders to prevent people from fleeing. Good luck talking people into signing up for that.
    Just like the loser confederacy, Rep Hansen and Mr. Z are fighting because they don’t want to give up their slaves.

  12. To All Mammals last point on her first comment, praise for Dakotans for Health—am I mistaken, or is Dakotans for Health the only group actively working to restore women’s reproductive choice in South Dakota? I haven’t heard of Planned Parenthood or the ACLU circulating petitions or holding signing events at their offices. I’m not even sure D4H is receiving the huge out-of-state donations that Jon Hansen alleges. D4H is mounting an apparently wildly successful, grassroots, on-the-ground petition drive in the face of vehement opposition and bullying from Jon Hansen’s thugs.

    Oh come on Nick Nemoc, I do not bash you. And you of all people should know that it was thanks to thr N.W ORDINANCE of 1787 that led to creating our Territory of Dakota in the latter 1850s.

    It allowed people to move west, form their territory l, appoint or elect a governor, a few secretaries, etc.

    This allowed for the future land companies to come to the territory. Keep in mind the eastern part of the territory was part of Minnesota and Iowa which we owed payments to just as the Ordinance says.

    Two such companies Western Town Co out of Iowa was charted by Iowa to form. Colony which became Village of Sioux Falls under te 1841 preemption act, and the Dakota Land Company charted out of Minnesota came and forces Sioux Falls City. Both were 160 acre land claims established in Minnehaha County which was organized under the Territorial Govt.

    We both know how the two groups of Dakota Territory later organized and applied for statehood 50 years later.

    So yes, the N.W ORDINANCE is pretty much legit.

    It was also utilized after the Civil War in 1871 when the powers at large federally created a Militarized Zone (1862) under General Order, which the reconstruction led to a new Federal Territoy being incorporated called UNITED STATES CORP. It had a governor appointed by the Executive, and two Secretaries appointed by Congress. It acted as a sovereign state even today.

    In 1874, they formated a Municipke Govt organizing the towns of Washington, Georgetown, Alexandria forming Washington D.C giving to the territory a provisional govt with a mayor and 9 member council, and a police force.

    U.S CITIZENS are literally contracted to this territory today…

    The rise of the Tea Party and the Patriot Movement, leading to the America First Policies, and the Rise of Trump is the movement to Restore the Republic. It began between 2006-2010, led to electing Trump for 2017-2021 allowing us to enact our policies, take back the Supreme Court, installing our REPS in Congress…

    By 2040, we are gonna see big changes.

    Northwest Ordinance is illegitimate and invalid.
    – The Northwest Ordinance, passed by the Continental Congress in 1787, established a process for admitting new states to the Union in the Northwest Territory. While it played a significant role in shaping the governance of the region, there are several arguments that can be made against its legitimacy and validity.

    Firstly, it can be argued that the Northwest Ordinance was illegitimate because it was imposed upon the indigenous peoples of the region without their consent. The land that was covered by the ordinance, which included areas of present-day Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Michigan, and Wisconsin, was already inhabited by various Native American tribes. The ordinance did not adequately recognize or respect their sovereignty, and it effectively disregarded their rights and interests.

    Secondly, the Northwest Ordinance can be seen as invalid due to its violation of the principles of self-determination and representation. While it provided a framework for territorial governments and eventual statehood, it failed to adequately involve the existing inhabitants in the decision-making process. The fact that it was passed by the Continental Congress, a body that did not have direct representation from the Northwest Territory, raises questions about the legitimacy and democratic nature of the ordinance.

    Furthermore, the Northwest Ordinance can be criticized for its failure to address the issue of slavery in the region. Although it prohibited slavery in the Northwest Territory, it allowed for the continuation of indentured servitude and did not challenge the systemic inequalities and injustices of the institution. This failure to fully confront the issue of slavery undermines the moral and ethical validity of the ordinance.

    Finally, the Northwest Ordinance can be deemed invalid because it disregarded the claims and interests of other nations. At the time of its passage, the British still maintained control over certain areas included in the ordinance. By assuming authority over these territories, the United States effectively ignored international boundaries and infringed upon the rights of other sovereign nations.

    In conclusion, the Northwest Ordinance can be considered illegitimate and invalid due to its disregard for the rights of indigenous peoples, the lack of democratic representation, the failure to address slavery comprehensively, and the infringement upon international boundaries. While it played a role in shaping the development of the Northwest Territory, its flaws and shortcomings raise significant concerns about its legitimacy and validity.

    The arguments for and against abortion are readily understood by voters. Consequently, I fully support the right of voters to decide this issue. Whether you are for or against abortion, I encourage everyone to sign the petition. The initiative process is well suited for this issue. Mr. Hansen should give greater respect to the wisdom of voters.

  17. Nick Nemec

    Mr. Zitterich I didn’t say the Northwest Ordinance was illegitimate, what I did say was if you think the Northwest Ordinance will somehow allow you to form new states more to your liking out of existing states you will still have to get it through Congress. It isn’t going to happen.

    Do you realize when you come of with this sort of crackpot stuff it reflects poorly on every other point you try to make?

    It’s high time the unfortunates who don’t know what causes pregnancy packed up and moved to California, where they will be surrounded by equally stupid people.

    Anything which encourages stupid people to go live somewhere else is a good thing, and a ban on non-medically necessary abortions is an excellent start.

    The post-menopausal hags who are so dumb they think they might, at any moment, get accidentally pregnant, should be the first to go. Watching 85 year old Jane Fonda on The View, talking about how she’s “not going back” and getting agreement from 80 year old Joy Behar and 67 year old Whoopi Goldberg, is enough to wonder what planet we’re all on. I mean, I know Abraham’s wife Sarah was 90 when she gave birth to Isaac, but I doubt God is in the mood to similarly bless any of them.

    As for Rick Weiland, he’s 65 years old himself, and can get a vasectomy if he wants to fool around. But half his age plus 7 is 39.5 years and most women that old have contraception figured out. If he wants to fool around with anybody younger than that, he’s a pervert.

    Let’s be real here: the people most afraid of unplanned pregnancy are all older than dirt. The younger generation doesn’t consider it a problem. There are a few who haven’t figured it out and probably never will, and we can help them pack.

    God sent Jesus to chew out the self righteous clerics and ‘crucify’ the old covenant, and usher in grace.

    The Law was ‘fulfilled’ or fully executed through his death, the contract ended, and he started a new one of grace and love.

    I cant get over all the IDIOTS who think Jesus died so they could become Jews and live under their Law. He burned it down, and you idiots cant let it go, like the clerics Jesus chewed out.

  26. Algebra, you appear to be ignoring the many young people who are basing college decisions on where they can find reproductive rights.

    But whatever your position, is there anything wrong with having a statewide vote on the issue?

  27. Lars Aanning

    Unbelievable to have critics of abortion seem OK with homeless, poverty, and other social problems in America…

  28. Donald Pay

    Yeah, Algebra is way, way off base. The spring elections in Wisconsin had a massive uptick in young voters, driven to the polls by the abortion issue. It is the top issue with young women. Middle-aged women are fully aware that contraception sometimes fails. Older women also support their daughters’ and granddaughters’ rights to their reproductive health care, as needed.

  29. bearcreekbat

    I am one of those “older than dirt” people Algebra references. I don’t fear pregnancy for myself, but I do fear laws that treat the bodies of any group of people as secondary to the needs of some other person or entity. In that category are laws that eliminate a woman’s right to decide who or what (i.e. zygote, blastocyt, embyro, to fetus) can use her body. Although such laws don’t affect me personally, I have no trouble seeing the ramifications of such laws:

    First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a socialist.

    Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a trade unionist.

    Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—because I was not a Jew.

    Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

    —Martin Niemöller

    I may not be a female capable of experiencing an unwanted or dangerous pregnancy, but I am a thinking person capable of understanding how unfair laws can hurt such individuals and realizing that once such laws become acceptable there is no reason new laws cannot be enacted to limit the right to protect one’s own body to other groups in other situations. Support for a constitutional right of privacy has been the means of limiting governments from enacting such laws. Thus I do object to the narrowing of the constitutional right of privacy for women and girls capable of experiencing an unwanted or dangerous pregnancy.

    At the Close of the Civil War, Congress had Put America Back Together By Utilizing the Northwest Ordinance of 1787, the Civil War that began during a period leading up to the term of Abraham Lincoln after a series of banking panics, depressions, and controls put upon the Federal Government, led to the Congress enacting several acts of which led to Reconstructing America between the years of 1865 to 1875.

    Keep in mind, during the “war’, Abraham Lincoln had incorporated all of the Federal Territory, in order to raise monies, and taxes to fund the war effort. By doing this, he indirectly presented to the International Bankers, who had been trying to figure out how to control the government itself. And after the war, Lincoln had every intention of restoring the republic, however, he was assassinated by John Wilks Booth during the summer of 1865. This set up several acts to which the Congress utilized to put America back together again.

    First, they utilized an executive order signed by Lincoln, referred to as General Order 100, this act established a Federal Militarized District, mostly throughout the south, but this allowed the Congress to further expand the Territory of the District of Columbia.

    Second, they utilized the Emancipation Act of which not only freed African-American born slaves, it also freed and allowed the Captured Prisoners of War as well, allowing them to furthermore, take a pledge to, and of the newly incorporated constitution of the country itself.

    And Third, they adopted, and ratified the 13th, 14th, and 15th Amendments which entrapped these people to the Territory, while establishing civil rights, emmunities, citizenship of this newly created territory, to which all federal laws, codes, and regulations would govern over all lands, persons, activities.

    If you read and review the Northwest Territory Ordinance of which was first adopted under the Articles of Confederation in 1777, then amended under the United States Constitution in 1788, and amended again during the summer of 1790, they very effectively established this newfound territory.

    They adopted in 1871, the Act to Establish a Government for the District of Columbia, of which created a Federal Territory now known as the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, of which acts as a corporation in itself. Under this territory, rather than electing an executive, the electors now nominate, vote for, and elect a President, of whom now appointed a “Governor” to govern over and and manage the territorial, temporary seat of government, while Congress further appointed two “Secretaries” to administrate and manage the Departments of the Treasury, State, and Planning and Zoning.

    With that, Section 1 of the Northwest Territory Ordinance was complete, “Be it ordained by the United States in Congress assembled, That the said territory, for the purposes of temporary government, be one district, subject, however, to be divided into two districts, as future circumstances may, in the opinion of Congress, make it expedient.”

    Within this newly found Territory, the estates, both of resident and nonresident proprietors in the said territory, dying intestate, shall descent to, and be distributed among their children, and the descendants of a deceased child, in equal parts; the descendants of a deceased child or grandchild to take the share of their deceased parent in equal parts among them, in whom the estate may be, and attested by two witnesses, provided such wills be duly proved, and such conveyances be acknowledged, or the execution thereof duly proved, and be recorded within one year after proper magistrates, courts, and registers shall be appointed for that purpose; and personal property may be transferred by delivery, hereby of who have heretofore professed themselves citizens of the Virginia Company, their laws and customs now in force among them, relative to the descent and conveyance, of property.

    The Governor, then would serve a 3 year term, and reside within a 1,000 acre sized district, of which now acts as the seat of government, to which he shall have all the powers of exercising his office, and shall become the commander in chief of the military of said district,

    So soon as there shall be five thousand free male inhabitants of full age in the district, upon giving proof thereof to the governor, they shall receive authority, with time and place, to elect a representative from their counties or townships to represent them in the general assembly: Provided, That, for every five hundred free male inhabitants, there shall be one representative, and so on progressively with the number of free male inhabitants shall the right of representation increase, until the number of representatives shall amount to twenty five; after which, the number and proportion of representatives shall be regulated by the legislature: Provided, That no person be eligible or qualified to act as a representative unless he shall have been a citizen of one of the United States three years, and be a resident in the district, or unless he shall have resided in the district three years; and, in either case, shall likewise hold in his own right, in fee simple, two hundred acres of land within the same; Provided, also, That a freehold in fifty acres of land in the district, having been a citizen of one of the states, and being resident in the district, or the like freehold and two years residence in the district, shall be necessary to qualify a man as an elector of a representative. (remember the 14th Amendment)

    The said territory, and the States which may be formed therein, shall forever remain a part of this Confederacy of the United States of America, subject to the Articles of Confederation, and to such alterations therein as shall be constitutionally made; and to all the acts and ordinances of the United States in Congress assembled, conformable thereto. The inhabitants and settlers in the said territory shall be subject to pay a part of the federal debts contracted or to be contracted, and a proportional part of the expenses of government, to be apportioned on them by Congress according to the same common rule and measure by which apportionments thereof shall be made on the other States; and the taxes for paying their proportion shall be laid and levied by the authority and direction of the legislatures of the district or districts, or new States, as in the original States, within the time agreed upon by the United States in Congress assembled, of which there shall be neither slavery nor involuntary servitude in the said territory, otherwise than in the punishment of crimes whereof the party shall have been duly convicted

    With this newly created Federal Territory established, the whole dynamics of the United States changed, for those who resided, worked, and owned property in this territory, from 1871 and beyond has come to be known as a United States Citizen, to whom all loyalties, pledges, and contracts are to be made.

    During the summer of 1874, the Congress adopts the Municipality Act for the District of Columbia, what this act did was incorporate the three cities, or townships known as Alexandria, Georgetown, and Washington to be known as Washington D.C of which now would have a Mayor, and 9 Member City Council, of whom only the “residents” or citizens of shall be privileged to be nominated, voted for, and elected to serve. This now becomes the permanent seat of the government, to which today, adopts ordinances, resolutions, and regulations for the United States of America established in 1871.

    All the other “States” of this Union have since become contractually, obligated to this “territory” to which now governs over, and controls all lands, persons, and activities as per the now, Corporate Charter, of which today the constitution has since become.

    Whereas, prior to 1870, we had an Executive, Department Secretaries of whom oversaw the federal government, today, we have a President, Secretaries, and Military Officers of whom manage over all “Corporate Duties” of the Federal Territory, to whom are beholden to the International Bankers who fund them.

    This is today, the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, and all the “States” beneath it, now are Federally Contracted to that Territory as if it is one country.

    How do we separate from this entity? We have to Restore the Republic by reversing all of this, most likely organizing within our “States” get 30,000 people on board in each state, establish our “Territorial” Government, electing our Governor, Attorney General, Secretary of State, State Treasurer, Auditor, Land Commissioner, having this all in place, of which during an election year, install them into the actual State Government itself. This movement has already started, for the Tea Party Movement rose to power in 2010, morphed into the Patriot Movement by 2016, creating the America First Policies, to which led to the Rise of Donald Trump, of which we elected him to become President of the United States, to which his Innaugeral Speech becomes our Declaration.

    Remember the words in 2017, Trump said, this is not just a transition from Obama Administration to the Trump Administration, this was a transitional period of putting back in place the “Republic” allowing the States (the people) take back control of the Federal Government. The period of 2017-2021 was the Shot Heard Round the Globe – America was changing from within.

    Trump Enacts Executive Orders 13848, 13959, and 13971 to which are being used today to Investigate, and put on Trial the “Deep State Actors”, we have taken back control of the Supreme Court, and the U.S Military has been faithfully protecting Donald Trump and the Patriots today while all this has been going on. Thing of the movement of the Red States standing their ground, adopting resolutions to stand together, versus the corrupted Blue States.

    The Republic is being put back together, but not without the Deep State Actors fighting back, led by Joe Biden. Folks, we are in a Revolutionary Period, to which may not end until the year 2040, the year of the 7th Great Seal of our Creator, the God of whom ‘we pledged’ to create the Republic of 50 Sovereign and Independent States of America.

    Few of America’s founders believed Jesus of Nazareth was divine. Thomas Jefferson would not plant tobacco because he believed it to be bound to the capitalism he abhorred and chose cannabis as his crop of choice for its utilitarian applications. Jefferson invokes natural law in many of his letters as the best interpretations of his creed and put Jesus of Nazareth on a par with Leonardo da Vinci and Sir Isaac Newton.

    The national Republican Party is in a box. If they don’t nominate Donald Trump as their guy in 2024 he will run an unaffiliated campaign and they’ll lose the White House anyway so GOP support to block him under the Fourteenth Amendment looks like its best course but don’t expect a sitting Republican to bring it up.

    George Washington was a warlord because enslaved people afforded him cannon, muskets, powder and ball. And, if they were alive today he and President Jefferson would be horrified to learn the US is operating on a manual written in the Eighteenth Century. Abraham Lincoln and Theodore Roosevelt would be putting American Indigenous in concentration camps arguing it’s for their own protection.

    But prohibition won’t work. Yes, bullying can lead to massacres and when the US ended the draft in 1973 the number of mass shootings began to rise so Congress should enact compulsory military service or police training as one way to slow gun violence. Enlistment could look like the Swiss model where soon after high school eighteen year olds would join for two years then re-up or enroll in the college or vocational training of ones choosing.

    Raise the civilian age of possession, operation and ownership of all firearms to 21, levy 100% excise taxes on the sales of semi-automatic weapons then tag the revenue for Medicaid expansion so parents have the resources to address the devastating effects of Fox News on American youth.

    If it were possible and the oligarchs wouldn’t hijack a Convention of States a rewrite of the Second Amendment would be at the top of my list.

    Anyway, thank you again, Nino Scalia, for reminding us why Democrats need to control not just the federal bench but every court in every jurisdiction.

    One of the most frustrating elements of the abortion debate is the pro-life’s refusal to acknowledge that the cause of abortions is unwanted pregnancies. No woman gets an abortion just because it is legal. But when it seems that both sides should be able come to a meeting of the minds to reduce unwanted pregnancies through open access to contraception, too often I lose my conservative friends; theocratic tendencies rear up and that obvious solution becomes anathema. In fact, too often, after abortion restrictions, the next step in the theocratic-Right’s playbook is to RESTRICT birth control access. At this point, it all really does seem to be more about moralistic control of women and less about ending abortion.

    It would be helpful to know where we can sign the petition. I live in Sioux Falls but there are probably others in the State that would like a contact point as well. You don’t always have to come to us, we’ll come to you.

    Not true, Z-dude. For one, I’m here to help you with your delusions. Let’s get started. Shall we? Hmmm …
    -Mike. Do you sometimes feel that everyone is against you? That the world has it in for you? Or that people are out to get you? You could be suffering from a persecution complex.
    -Those statements might sound pretty outrageous, and to most of us, they are. However, did you know that according to research, at least 10 – 15% of us regularly experience these kinds of delusions? Here’s some help. No charge. First one’s free. – Amen

    Judge Luttig’s advice to Vice President Pence regarding Jan. 6, saved this democracy. Judge Luttig now says “There is no Republican Party”. Wow, what we have all suspected, a Constitutional Lawyer, a lifelong Republican, now tells the facts. The now republican party is a cult, lead by a weak weak flabby old fart of a disgrace. The used car guy is just another con like his cult hero.

    Thankfully, we have those that stand the abuse of those cult members while gathering signatures to defend democracy. These folks are the real hero’s of this country.

  46. Good morning, bat. Mike Rounds has rejected Herr Trump as unfit and there are certainly other Republicans in the US Senate who have nothing to lose by upholding Article 3. Whether any of them will overcome their own cranial rectitis and insist Trump lose his passport and be put under house arrest until his coming myriad days in court remains a mystery.

    The Declaration Made by the People of the United States on January 20, 2017,

    Given by Donald J. Trump, Upon taking the Oath of Office for the Presidency:

    Chief Justice Roberts, President Carter, President Clinton, President Bush, President Obama, fellow Americans, and people of the world, thank you.

    Article 1:

    We the citizens of America are now joined in a great national effort to rebuild our country and restore its promise for all of our people. Together we will determine the course of America, and the world, for many, many years to come. We will face challenges. We will confront hardships, but we will get the job done. Every four years, we gather on these steps to carry out the orderly and peaceful transfer of power, and we are grateful to President Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama for their gracious aid throughout this transition. They have been magnificent. Thank you.

    Article 2:

    Today’s ceremony, however, has very special meaning, because today we are not merely transferring power from one administration to another, or from one party to another, but we are transferring power from Washington, D.C., and giving it back to you, the people. For too long, a small group in our nation’s capital has reaped the rewards of government, while the people have borne the cost. Washington flourished, but the people did not share in its wealth. Politicians prospered, but the jobs left and the factories closed. The establishment protected itself, but not the citizens of our country. Their victories have not been your victories. Their triumphs have not been your triumphs, and while they celebrated in our nation’s capital, there was little to celebrate for struggling families all across our land. That all changes, starting right here and right now, because this moment is your moment, it belongs to you. It belongs to everyone gathered here today, and everyone watching, all across America. This is your day. This is your celebration, and this, the United States of America, is your country.

    Article 3:

    What truly matters is not which party controls our government, but whether our government is controlled by the people. January 20th, 2017 will be remembered as the day the people became the rulers of this nation again. The forgotten men and women of our country will be forgotten no longer. Everyone is listening to you now. You came by the tens of millions to become part of a historic movement, the likes of which the world has never seen before. At the center of this movement is a crucial conviction, that a nation exists to serve its citizens. Americans want great schools for their children, safe neighborhoods for their families, and good jobs for themselves. These are just and reasonable demands of righteous people and a righteous public, but for too many of our citizens a different reality exists. Mothers and children trapped in poverty in our inner cities, rusted out factories, scattered like tombstones across the across the landscape of our nation, an education system flush with cash, but which leaves our young and beautiful students deprived of all knowledge, and the crime, and the gangs, and the drugs that have stolen too many lives and robbed our country of so much unrealized potential. This American carnage stops right here and stops right now.

    Article 4:

    We are one nation and their pain is our pain. Their dreams are our dreams and their success will be our success;

    We share one heart, one home, and one glorious destiny. The oath of office, I take today, is an oath of allegiance to all Americans. For many decades, we’ve enriched foreign industry at the expense of American industry, subsidized the armies of other countries, while allowing for the very sad depletion of our military;

    We’ve defended other nation’s borders while refusing to defend our own. And spent trillions and trillions of dollars overseas, while America’s infrastructure has fallen into disrepair and decay;

    We’ve made other countries rich while the wealth, strength and confidence of our country has dissipated over the horizon. One by one, the factories shuddered and left our shores, with not even a thought about the millions and millions of American workers that were left behind. The wealth of our middle class has been ripped from their homes and then redistributed all across the world.

    Article 5:

    But that is the past, and now we are looking only to the future. We assembled here today our issuing a new decree to be heard in every city, in every foreign capital, and in every hall of power, from this day forward: a new vision will govern our land, from this day forward, it’s going to be only America first. America first.

    Article 6:

    Every decision on trade, on taxes, on immigration, on foreign affairs will be made to benefit American workers and American families;

    We must protect our borders from the ravages of other countries making our products, stealing our companies and destroying our jobs. Protection will lead to great prosperity and strength. I will fight for you with every breath in my body, and I will never, ever let you down. America will start winning again, winning like never before;

    We will bring back our jobs. We will bring back our borders. We will bring back our wealth, and we will bring back our dreams;

    We will build new roads and highways and bridges and airports and tunnels, and railways, all across our wonderful nation. We will get our people off of welfare and back to work, rebuilding our country with American hands and American labor.

    We will follow two simple rules: buy American, and hire American. We will seek friendship and goodwill with the nations of the world, but we do so with the understanding that it is the right of all nations to put their own interests first. We do not seek to impose our way of life on anyone, but rather to let it shine as an example. We will shine for everyone to follow. We will reinforce old alliances and form new ones, and you unite the civilized world against radical Islamic terrorism, which we will eradicate completely from the face of the Earth.

    Article 7:

    At the bedrock of our politics will be a total allegiance to the United States of America, and through our loyalty to our country, we will rediscover our loyalty to each other. When you open your heart to patriotism, there is no room for prejudice. The Bible tells us how good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in unity;

    We must speak our minds openly, debate our disagreements, but always pursue solidarity. When America is united, America is totally unstoppable. There should be no fear. We are protected, and we will always be protected. We will be protected by the great men and women of our military and law enforcement. And most importantly, we will be protected by God;

    Finally, we must think big and dream even bigger. In America, we understand that a nation is only living as long as it is striving;

    We will no longer accept politicians who are all talk and no action, constantly complaining but never doing anything about it. The time for empty talk is over. Now arrives the hour of action. Do not allow anyone to tell you that it cannot be done. No challenge can match the heart and fight and spirit of America. We will not fail. Our country will thrive and prosper again.

    Article 8:

    We stand at the birth of a new millennium, ready to unlock the mysteries of space, to free the Earth from the miseries of disease and to harness the industries and technologies of tomorrow. A new national pride will stir our souls, lift our sights and heal our divisions. It’s time to remember that old wisdom our soldiers will never forget, that whether we are black, or brown, or white, we all bleed the same red blood of patriots;

    We all enjoy the same glorious freedoms, and we all salute the same, great American flag. And whether a child is born in the urban sprawl of Detroit or the windswept plains of Nebraska, they look up at the same night sky, they fill their heart with the same dreams and they are infused with the breath of life by the same almighty creator.

    So to all Americans, in every city near and far, small and large, from mountain to mountain, from ocean to ocean, hear these words. You will never be ignored again. Your voice, your hopes, and your dreams will define our American destiny. And your courage and goodness and love, will forever guide us along the way. Together, we will make America strong again;

    We will make America wealthy again. We will make America proud again We will make America safe again, And yes, together, we will make America great again;

    Thank you. God bless you. And god bless America. Thank you. God bless America.

    This Speech was given before the People in Washington, D.C on January 20, 2017 upon the People of the Republic of 50 States delivering to the Nation, a Candidate of Hope, a Message that We the People shall take back, and regain the Republic. The movement began in 2010 with the Birth of the Tea Party, blossomed with the Patriot Movement in 2016, and led to the Creation of the America First Policies, of which the People installed Donald J. Trump, as their Executive to Implement their Policies.

    Mr. Zitterich, tighten up your bloggings.

  50. There is little doubt in my mind that damning evidence linking the Trump Organization to the Port Authority and Russia was destroyed on 9/11 and it’s impossible the Obama Administration didn’t know Donald Trump was being installed through a vast white wing conspiracy with at least one hostile government. Hillary Clinton knew that had she been elected in 2016 Paul Ryan would have been POTUS before the 2018 midterms.

    Honestly? I’m terrified the GOP will assassinate our POTUS and VPOTUS then install the Republican Speaker of the House who would name Herr Trump his Veep then step down.

  51. Donald Pay

    Mike Z. provides a truly dystopian vision mixed in with the usual political homilies by our 4-times indicted, defeated President. We could all go through that Trump speech and find points of agreement and points of disagreement. I like that part about “the peaceful transfer of power,” don’t you? It’s too bad he didn’t follow through on that when he was defeated in 2020. Had he done that, he might have gone down as only the second or third worst president in history, rather than the worst. Although some think Nixon and some think Reagan was worse than Trump, there are a lot of people who would go back to Andrew Johnson to pin the worst President medal on, I’d say Trump is the worst.

    I like this phrases “The forgotten men and women of our country will be forgotten no longer….”, unless they aren’t white, aren’t wealthy and don’t lick the royal behind. Otherwise they will get short-changed on tax cuts, short-changed on health care and short-changed on voting rights.

    Thank You for All of the Interesting Comments, Some good, some bad, some resentful. What you will not get from me is hate speech, let alone personal attacks coming from my own words. I do not play the game of personal attacks. I utilize morals, values, and decorum to express myself.

    There was a peaceful transition between Trump to Biden, you did NOT see Trump attack anyone nor attempt to block Biden from taking the post. You saw Trump express himself to ensure that Congress follow the proper process of determining the electors are counted, let alone to audit, review, and inspect the ballots. Just cause Trump did not concede the election, does not mean he had to. No one has to concede the election, and it is NOT illegal to not concede. Just cause the democrats conceded in previous elections, does not mean you have to concede. Conceding means you lost, and if YOU strongly feel you did not lose, Never concende.

    Trump left Washington D.C 1 hour prior to so called “innaugeration” of Biden, he let Mike Pence behind to represent the Trump Administration..

    You Democrats seem to think a person has NO RIGHT to question the results, nor audit the results, or challenge them. We are not worried, God works in very special ways, the wrongs of 2020 will be fixed soon enough.

    So, keep attacking me, insulting me, cause at this point, I relish the attacks by all of you, I wear it like a badge

  59. The White House was locked when the Bidens got there but you go, Mr. Z.

  60. Secretary Hillary Clinton sat in with the most sophisticated intelligence community on the planet, ffs! She and her campaign knew the Russians, the Trump campaign, Mike Pence and the Republican Party were hacking the election and the battle over her private emails proves it. The tarmac meeting between Bill Clinton and Attorney General Loretta Lynch was to deliver a thumb drive containing the Steele Dossier to the Justice Department. It was likely an open secret Trump was already under the microscope.

    Somebody (Robert Mercer and Cambridge Analytica) promised Paul Ryan the presidency had Clinton been removed and Tim Kaine met an unfortunate end but that all crashed when Trump was installed. There’s no way in Hell the GOP would have given a President Kaine the time to choose a Veep.

    Hillary’s campaign was phoned in at best so they gave Trump and the GOP all the rope they’re using right now to hang themselves.

    Mike Zitterich Hate Speech from 07/27/23 – We will never allow the White Race to die off, regardless of extreme the Federal Govt goes to allowing open borders that allows illegal immigration into the country. We have known for decades, that the democrat agenda is to over load our borders with war criminals, other people with the intent to decrease the White population. That is evident in all federal policies such as same sex marriage,promoting inter-racial marraiges, abortion, etc. Blame the FEDS for all this division among the races. – MIKE ZITTERICH

  62. Donald Pay

    Mike Z says “There was a peaceful transition between Trump to Biden, you did NOT see Trump attack anyone nor attempt to block Biden from taking the post.”

    I don’t know what planet you were visiting between the election and Biden’s Inauguration, but we all know what happened starting before election day up to and including January 6, and then after January 6 to Inauguration Day. Read the January 6th Report if you are unclear about this. Yeah, all his scheming and his various coup plots were foiled, but they nearly succeeded in toppling our democracy. After January 6th, Trump failed totally to engage in the transition of power between Administrations. People in the Trump Administration had to go around Trump to engage in the statutory transitioning mechanisms.

  63. e platypus onion

    Zit is full of it….. grtom L A Times 2021- WASHINGTON — For decades it has been one of the seamless but silent rituals of power transferring from one president to the next: the passing of the football on Inauguration Day.
    As the incoming president finishes the oath of office at the Capitol, the former president’s military aide lugging a briefcase containing the country’s nuclear war plans — known as the “football” — hands it over to a new uniformed aide, who takes up position near the just-inaugurated commander in chief.

    Unnoticed to most, the president’s power to wage war in an instant has changed hands.

    But this year’s football handoff will be long-distance for the first time — one of many crucial and cherished transition traditions that President Trump plans to upend in his final hours in office.

    By refusing to meet face to face with President-elect Joe Biden or attend the swearing-in Wednesday at the Capitol building that his supporters stormed on Jan. 6, Trump is attempting one last departing snub of Biden after repeatedly failing to overturn the November election results.

    “It’s changing the entire tenor of the transition, which is supposed to be symbolic to the country and the world,” said Andrew Card, a former White House chief of staff who ran the transition when President George H.W. Bush lost reelection to Bill Clinton in 1992. “It will be missed.”

    Trump’s refusal to formally concede his loss is taxing inauguration planners, White House staff and career officials already tasked with organizing a challenging transition amid sky-high security fears and a pandemic that has forced much of the usual pageantry to be made virtual.

    A jury-rigged inauguration has been planned without the exiting president. Meanwhile, Trump has ordered his own ceremonies, in a bid to upstage Biden and to send a message that he isn’t yielding, at least not in person.

    No other president has done more to obstruct a smooth transition of power.

    drumpf did nothing for America or anyone but himself and that is an irrefutablef act.

  64. Mike Zitterich

    I did not see any such insurrection, I saw Americans trying to get into the Capitol to watch over the public meetings which is our constitutional right. All meetings are to be open. To public.

    I never saw Trump attempt to stop the proceedings either, I saw him stand up challenging the results, asking people to hols their government accountable, asking them to raise questions, hold them to their oaths, ans to our constitutions.

    I saw Trump call atate officials as is his right t9 discuss the rules and to make sure they only count legal ballots, again, nothing wrong with that.

    You people just get mad when people question your authority let alone your people. Grow Up!

    I am sorry, but people know me, when I discuss or debate political affairs, I try to do so in a respectful, neutral manner. But although I am Republican, or what I refer to myself as a Anti-Federalist, I never attempt to bash anyone, or disrespect anyone’s beliefs. It’s why I started my own website. To help educate, inform, and help people best understand our constitution, our charter, and our political culture. You try to be respectful and honest. But it seems there is always one party that wants to attack you and call names. Why do Democrats all seem to be so full of hate? While there are some Republicans who are prices, it’s the democrat party that call people names…it gets to the point you simply stand your ground, take the blows, where their attacks like a Badge of Honor.
    – Mike Zitterich

  65. Our first president may well have been our most prescient. His fears about “cunning, ambitious, and unprincipled men” have, over the centuries, proved all too well founded. But his even stronger hopes for the republic were not misplaced. Still today, the Constitution, through its Reconstruction Amendments, contains a safeguard that it originally lacked—a safeguard against the undermining of our constitutional democracy and the rule of law at the hands of those whose lust for power knows no bounds.

  66. Fellow Democrats, there’s no reasoning with Trumpettes so arguing with people like Mr. Z is futile.

    Cory’s post is about a local matter and not about how insane Herr Trump is.

  67. jerry

    Not one word from mikey z about the signature gathering folks. These are the hero’s. They speak volumes of what and how a democracy work. mickey z is just a cultist, for a weak diluted farce.

  68. Donald Pay

    Mike Z., You didn’t see an insurrection. Most people did. Most people didn’t riot at the Capitol Building, or physically harm police officers there. Most people didn’t put themselves up for fake elector. Most people didn’t threaten to hang Mike Pence. Most people sat and watched the 4-time indicted ex-President fail to do anything to prevent the disruption of the Electoral Count. After that sad day, a day that will live in infamy, every Republican leader thought Trump had gone way too far and abandoned his oath of office. There are a few cultists who, like you, think that wiping the Capitol with excrement, vandalizing our Capitol Building, maiming police officers, and threatening to “hang Mike Pence” constituted a proper way to “view” counting of the elector ballots. They could have seen it all on TV if all they wanted to do was “view the counting.” That was not what they were in the Capitol Building to do. The orders from Trump were to “fight like hell,” not to view the counting. In all of the scheming going into the Jan 6 riot, there was no mention of “viewing” the counting. It progressed from urging Mike Pence to halt the counting in various illegal ways, to “hang Mike Pence.” Now maybe you agree with that sort of lawlessness. I don’t. I have no problem with civil disobedience, but this was insurrection and attempted coup, not civil disobedience.

  69. P. Aitch

    Mike Zitterich. Claiming to be a victim when your argument has been proven false can be attributed to several underlying psychological factors.
    1. Self-preservation: People falsely claim victimhood to protect themselves from negative consequences such as public humiliation, criticism, or legal repercussions.
    2. Cognitive dissonance: When individuals’ beliefs or ego are strongly tied to a certain viewpoint or argument, they experience cognitive dissonance when confronted with evidence that contradicts their position. To reduce this discomfort, they invent a victim narrative to maintain their sense of self and avoid accepting that they were wrong.
    3. Attention-seeking and sympathy: There is also a desire for attention, sympathy, and support from others. Falsely claiming victimhood can attract sympathy, emotional support, and validation from those who are deceived into offering comfort and reassurance.
    4. Perceived power dynamics: Individuals falsely claim victimhood to invert the power dynamics or shift the blame onto others. By portraying themselves as victims, they attempt to gain a perceived moral high ground or undermine the credibility of those who have proven their argument false.
    Psychological factors, personal biases, and cognitive mechanisms all contribute to this deviant behavior.

    Mr. Ziittrich is absurd…no insurrection.?? ..if beating up Capital policemen with 3 hours of hand to hand combat with weapons, and chemical weapons, the assault resulting in deaths and disabling injuries to law enforcement personnel, ransacking the Capitol, breaking out windows, tearing down doors, defecating on Congressmen’s desks and the floors, carrying away documents and property, building a gallows from which to hang the Vice President, and disrupting a Constitutionally prescribed Joint Session of Congress to delay the peaceful transfer of power, all at the direction of a defeated President attempting to circumvent election law and the Constitution is not Insurrection, by common definition, then….I am the Prince of Wales.

While our hero’s are collecting signatures for democracy, old weak trump will be giving his correct weight, north of 280 and his height about 6’2, didn’t know you stack crap that high did ya. To the hoosegow with this common criminal.

  73. Mike Zitterich

    No, I did NOT see an insurrection on January 6th. Unless you call 2,500 Americans trying to participate in the January 6 Presidential Election a insurrection, then I have no idea what an insurrection is anymore. I saw no war, I saw no one trying to stop the counting, but what I saw was passionate Americans show up, expecting to walk into the Capitol Building, a free right to do, since all “PUBLIC MATTERS” are a matter of open dialogue, discussion, and debate, so being locked out of YOUR HOME was a crime in itself.

    The PEOPLE had every right to sit in the upper deck, had every right to confront their Representatives, to Present their Evidence, their Facts, their Opinions, their Political Thought. That is why the U.S HOUSE and Senate chambers have chairs avaiable for “The People”

    Trump told people to peacefully go to the Capitol to hold their Representatives Accountable, he told Mike Pence where there were challenges, controversies, to uphold the COnstitution, not some unconstitutional 1877 Electoral COmmissin Act for it conflicts with the Constitution.

    The Patriots were all prepared to debate, to discuss, then were met with resistence, and well, AMERICANS are fighters, they will fight for their beliefs, and that is where we are today….

    The Patriots that day, were NOT trying to cause a revolt, nor a rebellion, nor a war, they were trying to have a discussion, to present their facts, their evidence, their political thought in the HOUSE CHAMBER.

    And yes, when 6 Senators and 12 Representatives stood up prior to the event, rose to challenge the Electors of 6 States, yes, Mike Pence was about to send them to their private chambers to open political debate on the electors, so it was NOT Trump, nor the Patriots who suspended the discussion, it was CONGRESS itself, and I think what happened, was Nancy Pelosi herself, interfered in that discussion, by causing the panic.

    We support FAIR, OPEN, TRANSPARENT ELECTIONS, not some ‘election that is conducted behind closed doors, out of sight, where fraud, election scheming, and abuse can occur.

    Donald J. Trump is the “Executive” of the Republic, the Red States are 100% Behind him. I do now believe we are in a middle of “Revolutionary Period” and it is yet to be seen whether or not a war will occur. Lets hope it does not, cause I truly believe Americans will come to make a Peace Treaty, an Agreement without killing each other, for the sake to simply agree to disagree, allowing the Red States to do what they want, and the Blue States to do what they want.

    This is why I am 100% in belief, that Americans are utilizing the NORTHWEST ORDINANCE OF 1787 in a manner of putting the Republic Back together, using the Precinct Strategy to hold public meetings, to place their At Large Reps in Vacant Seats, yet alone piecing back together the Republic, of which all they need is at least 30,000 Americans Per District (territory) to gain a voice in D.C

    When the time is right, ‘we’ will have placed those people in the White House, the Congress, the Supreme Court, yet alone, in Federal Departments, Offices, and Agencies, thus usurping control of the federal government from the Deep State Actors.

    God made man, man created the republic of free states, and the States had created the Federal Govt, for the “States’ have the utmost power over the Federal Government, just as the People have the utmost power over the States.

    Call me what you want, I really do not care, cause I stand behind my words, but I will at least do so in a respectful manner, leaving you to believe as you wish.

  74. Donald Pay

    It really doesn’t matter what Mike Z. did or didn’t see. The people who committed horrendous law-breaking on Jan. 6. are being dealt with by the justice system Many have already been found guilty by a jury of their peers of crimes associated with the insurrection. Trump has been indicted and will be tried for his role in the insurrection. I don’t care what Mike Z. calls it, as long as they all serve good long stretches in prison.
