Noem No-Show at Girls State?

Governor Kristi Noem was supposed to speak to Girls State at USD Wednesday evening and Boys State at Northern last night. But evidently she’s been so busy celebrating Dairy Month and storming the border that she hasn’t had time to post clips from either of her talks to South Dakota’s future leaders.

Noem couldn’t even make Wednesday’s gig in Vermillion. Jerry Oster of WNAX reported Wednesday that the Governor postponed her Girls State talk to Thursday at 8:15 p.m, which would have required a fast flight out of Aberdeen after her scheduled 5 p.m. talk to Boys State. Girls Staters were eager to hear from the Governor last night, but I’m hearing word from Vermillion that Noem canceled on Girls State yesterday. What—she couldn’t even send her scholarly press secretary to twirl her batons for our aspiring lady leaders?

But not to worry: South Dakota’s next Governor, Attorney General Marty Jackley, made both Girls State and Boys State to look for interns for his 2026 campaign.

Girls State and Boys State are too woke for the Snowflake Queen. We all know that. Fer sure.

What a get for Mr. Oster on his last day of work! Mrs. Noem is suffering from a crippling back injury, right?

Your post beat me to it, larry kurtz. I WAS going to type something snarky and succinct about her ladyship’s back, but, alas.

Good morning, Ms. Fairbank. No doubt Mrs. Noem has far more important Rocky Mountain oysters to fry ahead of all that schmoozing she’ll do in Iowa for some Earth hater like Mr. DiSantis.

    PTSD symptoms exhibited from our flame-thrower spraying, wanna-be para-military Twitter avatar’s camouflaged-cap, dog-whistling Governor.

Funny if it wasn’t sad and extremely dysfunctional.

I can’t think of anything this time of year, more important than the Governor’s address to the future state leaders at Girl’s State. The Governor must have taken with a fever….hotter than a pepper sprout.

It’s Friday afternoon. Do you know where your governor is?

Dherokeed iowa’s annual Memorial Day weekend rodeo is on and would be right up No Shoiw ‘Em Noem’s alley, unless she has unpaid speeding tickets in iowa like it seems the rest of South Duhkota’s magats do..

Maybe a nice demo of baton twirlling?

It could be the Governor considers the Girl’s State delegates to be a tough crowd and needs extended prep time. Teenage girls are quite sensitive about discrimination and may have uncomfortable questions to ask, that might make the Governor “feel sad”. Her jive about protecting female athletes’ ability to obtain athletic scholarships by banning transgenders from playing sports may not pass the scrutiny of South Dakota’s best and brightest. They are smarter than that.

Seems like something the governor should attend and speak at.

Noem is no role model and should stay away from youth.

I totally agree with John. Noem’s dog whistling is dangerous for young aspiring leaders to hear. The U.S. Constitution gives us a blueprint for becoming that shining city on the hill that promises each inhabitant life, liberty, and a pursuit of happiness. Noem and her ilk don’t know the history of this country and their actions to remain ignorant and impose that choice on the rest of us is dangerous. That is why she needs to stay away from the youth. I remember her statement that she and her husband raised God-fearing children. Why fear? Your Bible teaches us God is loving, forgiving, and even has a sense of humor. Noem needs to do introspective work on herself or she will continue to be dangerous.
