When she wasn’t lying about debate precedents for incumbent governors, Kristi Noem was in California with new Denver Broncos part-owner Condoleezza Rice pretending South Dakota’s Governor can contribute to a discussion of foreign policy:
Shouting “Freedom™!” isn’t exactly a foreign policy strategy, Kristi. President Biden has been projecting lots of tangible strength in the form of weapons to Ukraine—how much more strength do you want to project to defend freedom against Putin?
But Noem doesn’t want to face difficult practical questions. Instead, she’s planning her next big speech to her national audience, this time at the National Conservative Student Conference in Washington, D.C., two weeks from today:
South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem will speak to hundreds of young conservatives in Washington, D.C., later this month at Young America’s Foundation’sannual National Conservative Student Conference, the Washington Examiner has learned.
Noem will deliver a keynote address to the “biggest, student-only, conservative conference of the summer” on Thursday, July 28. The organization expects nearly 500 students to attend.
“We have a fantastic opportunity to remind our kids and grandkids that there is another path forward for our country than what they see coming out of Washington. That path is simple — it’s Freedom. And South Dakota is the best example of how well it works,” the governor told the Washington Examiner [Julia Johnson, “Kristi Noem to Address Hundreds of Young Conservatives in DC amid 2024 Speculation,” Washington Examiner, 2022.07.13].
The Young America’s Foundation, run by former Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker, owns the Reagan Ranch, where Noem played cowgirl dress-up and did zero work for South Dakota last October. Walker will join Noem, former Vice-President Mike Pence, Utah Senator Mike Lee, Ohio Congressman Jim Jordan, economist Arthur Laffer, and disgraced Colonel Oliver North at the July 28 youth event in D.C.
Noem has time to fly to California and D.C. but not to swing by Mitchell or Huron for a debate with Jamie Smith.
Noem Liar went to the Federalist Society and got her honorary P H D and BS degrees in blathering caca del toro.
Noem looks like a ditzy Dating Game contestant sitting next to Rice who actually knows what she (Rice) is talking about. If the airhead believes Critical Race Theory is an active threat in our tiny state, she must look like a babbling moron in a discussion about world affairs.
I’m certain her address will be riveting, another steller speech to a receptive but untesponsive crowd. She will not bring them to their feet nor will she register a digit on the national polls….she’s a space filler on the agenda.
The idea that the governor can share insights about “South Dakota freedom” with the former Secretary of State is beyond ridiculous. Are South Dakotans supposed that the wayfaring governor is up to anything other than self-promotion?
Freedom means letting people die to Republicans. It’s a personality thing.
Great! Does this conference signal that Kristi would embrace yet another Neocon misadventure into yet another endless war of destruction? Keep her away from the White House because we are not going down that rabbit hole again.

We measure how contagious a disease is by the basic reproduction number (R0). This is the average number of people an initial case infects in a population with no immunity (from vaccines or previous infection).
New mutations give the virus an advantage if they can increase transmissibility:
the original Wuhan strain has an R0 of 3.3
Delta has an R0 of 5.1
Omicron BA.1 has an R0 of 9.5
BA.2, which is the dominant subvariant in Australia at the moment, is 1.4 times more transmissible than BA.1, and so has an R0 of about 13.3
a pre-print publication from South Africa suggests BA.4/5 has a growth advantage over BA.2 similar to the growth advantage of BA.2 over BA.1. That would give it an R0 of 18.6.

NOem had no idea that Rice was a black woman of power. NOem had apparently asked Rice to serve coffee when Lew had to intervene to get NOem to actually shut her pie hole. NOem is an embarrassment to the state.
Rice is an actual expert of Russia and Russian affairs was Noem able to school her on Ukraine and how she would do Ukrain differently?
