Noem’s “Defend Title IX” Website Defunct

Hey, remember that website, defendtitleixnow.com, that Governor Kristi Noem threw together for political cover and address-harvesting for campaign fundraising after her transgender-veto debacle at the end of the 2021 Legislative Session?

No? Well, neither does Kristi:

When Noem announced this initiative in March 2021, she said she was building a coalition of states to fight the NCAA and ban transgender women from women’s college sports:

Today, Governor Noem announced the “Defend Title IX Now” Coalition to defend fairness in women’s sports.

“Today, we’re announcing a coalition of athletes, leaders, and anyone who cares about defending fairness in women’s sports,” said Governor Kristi Noem. “Once we have enough states on board – a coalition large enough where the NCAA could not possibly punish us all – then we will be able to guarantee fairness at the collegiate level.”

Governor Noem was joined by former NFL players Herschel Walker and Jack Brewer, by rodeo cowboys, and by several women athletes to announce the launch of the Coalition.

Those interested in joining the Coalition are encouraged to sign a pledge stating:

  1. Only girls should play girls’ sports. Title IX was passed to protect fairness for women;
  2. The federal government should enforce Title IX in a way that protects fairness for women’s sports, rather than misusing it in a way that undermines fairness;
  3. The NCAA and other athletic sanctioning bodies should not take any adverse action against any state or school that acts to protect fairness for women.

To sign the pledge and to find more information on the Coalition, visit DefendTitleIXnow.com [Gov. Kristi Noem, press release, 2021.03.22].

Idaho had already passed a similar ban in 2020, followed by Alabama a month after Noem launched her stunt website, and Florida in June 2021. South Dakota and other states have followed suit—the South Dakota Legislature passed Noem’s retread ban on transgender (read: terrorist!) athletes in the 2022 Session—but I don’t hear any of those states talking about Noem’s coalition or her leadership in “defending Title IX.”

And now we won’t hear it from her website, as she has moved on to other propaganda projects.

    so?

    Given what occurred at Boys State this past weekend….It seems Noem has done her best at making South Dakota a more racist, bigoted, and hateful place for our youth.

    Mission accomplished, I guess?

    The money must have dried up on that little bit of mock hate from Krist.

    Boys State – A program that includes sessions led by South Dakota government leaders, the citizens of Boys State create and operate their own mythical state government.

    What happened at Boy’s State?

    Nick–I’m wondering that, as well….its devolved into a recruiting ground for the Young Republicans and for various candidates to curry volunteer campaign workers.

    Perhaps Kristi didn’t know that Title Nine was an anti-disrimination, civil rights law, whoops!

    More misogyny, plus some transphobia… I wonder, can Northern State University get in Title IX trouble for hosting an event like Boys State that fosters such discrimination?

  9. CK 2022-06-06 21:38

    Don’t forget the racism, either, Cory. There was quite the anti-Native sludge being flung about also.
    I don’t know about Northern, but something tells me that there’s going to be some major fall out. Not every Legionnaire espouses Noem’s bigotry and hate, and certainly the National organization doesn’t.

    Let’s hear some ideas for whom Sen. Smith should pick for Lt. Governor.
