Michels Serving as Counsel to Senate President in Ravnsborg Impeachment Trial

Former Lieutenant Governor Matt Michels is involved with the impeachment trial of Attorney General Jason Ravnsborg. According to a May 5 letter included in the Senate Court of Impeachment’s documents, Senate President Pro Tempore Lee Schoenbeck appointed Michels to serve as Counsel to Senate President and Lieutenant Governor Larry Rhoden during the June 21–22 Special Session:

Sen. Lee Schoenbeck, letter to Matt Michels, emailed 2022.05.05.
Sen. Lee Schoenbeck, letter to Matt Michels, emailed 2022.05.05.

As prescribed by the impeachment trial rules written by Senator Schoenbeck and accepted by the Senate in April, Lt. Gov. Rhoden will preside over the trial; if Rhoden has to step out, Schoenbeck will preside. Michels will not touch the gavel that he once wielded over the Senate; he will only advise the men who do.

Indeed. Another murder of Schoenbeckian crows is feasting on the entrails of another long dead horse that fled the burnt barn where Lee still closes all the doors.
