Johns Steps Aside, Leaves 2022 District 31 Senate Race Open to Trumpists

Senator Tim Johns (R-31/Lead) won’t have to worry about Ron Moeller running “Don’t Send Drunk Drivers to Pierre” ads during the primary. The Senator and former judge says he won’t run for reëlection in 2022:

In his 10th year of service to the State Legislature, Johns said he wants to step back and allow someone else to take the reins of representing Lawrence County in Pierre. Johns, R-Lead, who is married and has small grandchildren in Arizona and Oregon, also has a thriving law practice in Lead. He said he is looking forward to spending more time with family and focusing on his business [Wendy Pitlick, “Johns Will Not Seek Second Term in Senate,” Black Hills Pioneer, 2021.12.14].

Pitlick’s encomium does not mention Johns’s February 2018 mid-Session arrest for drunk driving and subsequent plea down to reckless driving. Johns’s departure from Capitol affairs may not leave the streets of Pierre much safer, and it surely won’t make the Senate saner: Johns has been a mostly reasonable legislator, focused on facts and law rather than the culture war. Given the success of radical right wingers in the 2020 election and the apparent influx of Blue State Refugees seeking to perfect Kristi Noem’s Whitopian Pandemic Union, the next Senator from District 31 will likely complete a Lawrence County trifecta of radical Trumpist legislators.

Moeller is a soldier of fortune whose entire career milked the public dole. Lawrence County deserves him.

Ron Moeller is not fit to replace him, and he is not fit to represent South Dakotans. He’s just another Trump lickspittle RINO looking for attention, and he will not be an effective legislator for Lawrence County. He’s not smart enough. Let’s hope Lawrence County voters catch on to his ruse and elect someone able to do the job right. Are there any other candidates?

I suppose you have to grade on the curve for Lawrence County legislators. They are either drunks or dumber than the boulders that roll down from the higher ground, or, in the case of Jim Dunn, both.

Well, myself, I believe Trump is going to implode before the election. Its just a matter of time, already there are plenty of smoking guns. Even McDonnell can’t wait to see the next shoe drop on more of his boys. He’s much too devious for those boys to comprehend.

Mark…I too believe Trump is going to implode mostly caused by his exploding legal and financial issues. Read “Too Much and Never Enough” written by his niece about the Trump family and the fortune Donald has lost. His dealings with everyone, family, bankers, employees is just like his behavior as President.I can’t believe this incredible criminal phony is so popular in South Dakota.

Mark and Arlo: Since I’m just a little ray of sunshine, I’m praying for Hump to have a spectacularly painful and embarrassing death. I don’t care if the Forever Humptards enshrine him afterwards; it would be worth it.

Has anyone ever added up the total number of liquor licenses sold in SD per year? Is Johns really the problem?

Regarding Moeller .. he is interesting.

“Lawrence County legislators. They are either drunks or dumber than the boulders that roll down from the higher groundh.” Awesome, now do sweeping generalizations about the Blacks and Mexicans.

When I searched, I found 9 instances of “Trump” on this page. Haven’t you figured out it isn’t about Trump as much as it’s about the Federal Reserve, human freedom, and American management of American resources?

Trump people (people who want to improve The US) like Trump because he champions their country.

Trump the man is not much to look at or listen to .. doesn’t matter.

Like any elected official, if you are persistent, you could alert them to substantive and important issues, analysis, factors, etc.

It doesn’t and shouldn’t matter who is in office.

One thing that has been nice for a lot of folks about the fake-demic etc is that folks could slow down, spend time with the kids, watch their teachers, and get caught-up on the state of US civics (it is not pretty).

Personally, I like Tim a lot. I bet he’s pretty fun to hang out with – great sense of humor, seems to be in touch with how the normies struggle, and his insight is wide, interesting, and varied. He’s a pretty practical and common sense guy, but he is human.

I’m sure once the drinking thing broke, because that fault, too, has been weaponized against people who one might disagree with, people lost sight of Tim’s other good qualities.

In any event, I am keenly interested to see who might step-up and in the general, or if someone will try to primary Ron.

If you get a chance, thank Tim Johns for his service despite what cognitive biases you might have.

Lead is where if you get a divorce you’re still father and daughter.

Ron Moeller is a career spook whose paychecks were written by US for thirty some years but he manages to skew his gains with specters of big gubmint.

Oh wait: that’s Pierre on its face.

There is a divide growing in Lead over fugitive dust driven by a lab named for a Republican alleged pedophile in a pit where an ice climbing park might have gone but who really cares about that?

  12. grudznick 2021-12-20 18:34

BAH, they can climb on ice on the other side of the pit if they really want, or perhaps right below the golf-ball launching platform. Just let a garden hose drip over the edge for a few nights.

That dust is no issue, it’s just a bunch of whiners at the delicate lotus or whatever it’s called who don’t cater to fellows with dirt on their overalls.

We have to commend FrankenGrudz …
He exerts considerable effort to remain so ignorant.
