Christmas Tree Enters the Capitol, But Not Without a Fight!

Today’s best South Dakota video comes from journalist Austin Goss, who captures what looks like a Christmas tree’s successful invasion of the South Dakota Capitol…

…though we learn from the inside shot that the tree initially resisted its nomination as Rotunda beacon of holiday joy, snapping its rope on the first big pull:

Ah, the hazards of hauling large trees into public buildings—that must be why the Bureau of Administration didn’t want any protestors in the Capitol all month. The BOA just wanted to protect everyone from stubborn trees.

    Another pagan tradition permeates christianic religionism: priceless.

    The Gregorian calendar is a ridiculous anachronism. How does something called the ‘the christian calendar’ still exist in secular societies? Because 13 is not only a prime number and mark of the devil, it corresponds to the number of women’s menses each year in a world where men still have control.

    I feel like I should caption this as–

    Tree 1 : Humans 0

    Though maybe it does count as a tie in the end since they did eventually get it in and stood up.

    That was probably a pretty nice tree before the mob dragged it up the steps and through the door, leaving broken and discarded boughs. Since it’s the Rotunda Tree it might be a bugger trying to hide the “bad side” against the wall.
