Landowner Asks for 1200% Increase in Dumpster Site Rental

Here’s some inflation not driven by supply-chain issues—the rental rate for one bare patch of ground near Elm Lake appears to be going up over 1,200%:

Brown County commissioners might be looking for a new dump site in the Elm Lake area.

…During Tuesday’s commission meeting, landfill manager Mike Scott said current agreements in place pay $50 per year to have dumpsters on property in the Houghton area and $150 per year to have dumpsters set up near Elm Lake. The Elm Lake payment is stipulated in an easement agreement with the Elm Lake Association.

The Elm Lake property owner, Brad Hart, is seeking an increase — to $2,000 per year.

…After significant discussion, commissioners proposed a five-year agreement at $500 per year for the Elm Lake site. But before the meeting was over, Scott returned to commissioners to say Hart rejected the offer and wants the dump site moved [Elisa Sand, “Elm Lake Area Property Owner Wants More Money to Allow Dumpsters,” Aberdeen American News, 2021.07.22].

I invite Senator Jim Bolin and other partisan ideologues to explain how that inflation is President Biden’s fault.

Jezz no comments on a dump site. It’s made for magas, come on boys, your grifter needs you.
