Noem Raises Money for Her Campaign in Texas

Absentee Governor Kristi Noem justifies her spending the pandemic criss-crossing the country as an effort to protect South Dakota’s interests by keeping Donald Trump in power.

But her swanky private fundraiser at the home of a rich Dallas stock trader last night was all about promoting her own campaign fund:

Governor Kristi Noem will attend a private fundraiser in Dallas, Texas, tonight to raise money for her gubernatorial campaign.

The event will take place in the home of Kathryn and Gentry Beach and has a recommended contribution of $1,000 per attendee and up to $8,000 per couple.

According to the Dallas Morning News, Gentry Beach is stock trader and recent rising star in Republican fundraising.

The reception also suggests the Kristi For Governor political action committee can take corporate donations up to $4,000 [Lee Strubinger, “Noem Fundraiser Organized in Dallas TX,” SDPB, 2020.10.19].

Apparently Noem has reached the point where she feels her naked self-interest can;t hurt her political career… which apparently now is based almost entirely on seeking the national spotlight and dollars.

Anyone who thinks Billy would have governed this way, raise your hand. Anyone…anyone…Beuhler… anyone? Perhaps SD might think about a little introspection? Time to look at things a bit differently? Perhaps…

Of course it is Donald Pay, the same conduit that bought us Butina, the Russian spy to South Dakota with welcome arms. Vote her out and vote him out. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gUKKnFLaBeg&feature=emb_title

No matter what blood money she raises, she will always be known as a traitor carpetbagger for someone who runs against her to point out. Not fit for the office.

Is this a test by the GOP to see if candidate Noem can be an effective fundraiser? This event is not for the President, so it seems more a test of her as a candidate and how appealing she will be outside SD. I would guess that her SD based advisors are unnerved by how out-of-state money will put off SD voters. Our dear grudznik has modeled the conservative disdain for out-of-staters involving themselves in matters of SD.

Do South Dakota voters dislike when SD candidates get too big for their britches — or just when Democrats do?

What is next? Flying to New York to slide down the banister at Trump Tower? Unbelievable!

    o,

Covid Kristi isn’t wasting her time in Wisconsin for free. The fundraiser is thrown by Trump’s money men in Texas They are using the fundraiser to pay her off for her work going to swing states for Trump and hopeless case Congressional candidates. Sure they are looking her over for 2024, but she has to be reelected first, and who knows what bargains are being made. The last time I remember Texas billionaires involved in South Dakota, they wanted to send garbage to a large landfill they wanted to construct in South Dakota.

Donald Pay, never ever for get ETSI https://law.und.edu/_files/docs/ndlr/pdf/issues/89/1/89ndlr1.pdf

If any of you ever think that this pipe dream is over, take a look at what is happening between Mexico and the US regarding water. The Missouri River water will be the biggest land and water grab ever.

Paywall involved, Mr Pay. Like to read the story, though.

Would someone please explain to me how any of this out-of-state travel by our Leader demonstrates leadership in a time of crisis? I realize she has no skills or qualifications to help manage a pandemic, but if she were truly a Leader, she would not be abandoning our state for fame and fortune elsewhere.

kj trailer trash, interesting readable link. Thanks so much.

Jerry, I can’t forget it. After ETSI was dead my wife and I got supoenaed to give depositions in Janklow’s suit against the railroads. My wife refused to testify, while I gave them a lot of guff, and nothing they were after. They thought the railroads were funding us to oppose the project. Ha, I wish.

I also remember a SD Senator was used as a stalking horse to put down/trivialize clean air requirements on the basis of “farm dust” when the issue was really coal dust pollution from mining killing workers. The National GOP knows where to get their issue stooges — cheap.

Varlick, Wismer, Joe Lowe, Paula, Randy, Billy, Heinert, Killer, Mousseaux, Means eTc (forgotten the other great choices, many non-west river, we have helped offer to the electorate)-Democratic character over and over. And its not that they are Democrats really, but they have not swallowed the Republican hook to survive in this dinkey ‘lil sheit hole (as their idiot-in-chief would call it on his BEST day) red neck state. https://www.newsweek.com/trump-wasnt-first-major-politician-drop-f-bombbiden-mccain-others-have-too-1537999

Ou-Interstate basin water transfers like coal slurry water piped to other thirsty states from our ( The Indian’s Missouri River Basin) would NEVER be permitted by our PUC and Water Mgt Board of stellar Republican, under long held precepts of western water law. Those are norms, laws and precedents-unlike Republican bullsheit about “precedent being 19 of the last 21 SCOTUS nominations in an election year were carried out by the president in power”. :)

Apparently all one has to do in this state to get elected is be a republicant and pledge allegiance to trumpolini, and of course sign a non disclosure agreement.

Lying Donald J Trump, lock him up. Maybe Kissy could get conjugal visits.

  14. Donald Pay 2020-10-20 16:23

Leslie, The Board of Water Management granted ETSI a water right to use water in a coal slurry pipeline. That water was an out of basin transfer. It was packaged with a water supply pipeline concept for Western South Dakota, making it more politically palitable. When ETSI fell through, tribes and ranchers developed a new water pipeline concept, Mni Wiconi, for much of rural West River.

This afternoon the R.C. Journal reported on line that Noem has raised about $850,000 in the last few months, mostly from out of state cheerleaders, apparently based on her COVID 19 response and support for Trump. In the months prior she only raised a little over a $100,000, so the Journal reports she is cashing in (their description) on the virus.

It looks like the story may have originated with the Argus Leader.

Noem’s anti immigrant support for Trump led to this crime spree:

In April, we joined partner organizations in filing a class-action lawsuit against ICE demanding the release of detained immigrants – starting with the elderly and medically vulnerable – whose lives were needlessly being risked during the Covid-19 pandemic.

ICE’s reaction was not to release detained individuals. Instead, they began transferring immigrants to detention facilities around the country. This not only increased exposure to the virus but also separated them from their families and legal counsel. https://www.miamiherald.com/article246319025.html

I just bet you those damn Beaches have a really swell house.

  20. mike from iowa 2020-10-20 19:12

You’ll never get close enough to sniff it, Grudzilla. Us out of state name callers can smell it from way up here. It stinks like really old, stale wingnut greed. Sorta like drumpf and criminal enterprise family.

  21. grudznick 2020-10-20 19:23

Mr. mike, there are no houses in Iowa like that, I am sure, but can you imagine the spread of food they’ll have spread about for the guests. I can almost sniff it from here. I bet they even have fresh texas hog sausages and one of those gravy fountains you can dip your baked garlic parmesan potato wedges into.

    Beaches!

The oil is still flowing money into Texas pockets. No wonder they are feeding the little whale. https://www.aljazeera.com/economy/2020/10/20/native-tribes-make-new-move-to-shut-down-dakota-access-pipeline

Hide and watch, they will be after this water sooner than you think. South Dakota is a sellout state with sell out legislators who will whore themselves for trinket money. There is a reason for almost 700 billionaires in the United States, they know how cheap the prostitute ring is in South Dakota.

  23. jerry 2020-10-20 20:59

GNOem is following the lead of Thune and EB5 Short Rounds, build a big war chest and no one will challenge you. Thing is, there is only so many news outlets in this state to get your message out, so why do we fall for that bluff?

  24. o 2020-10-21 09:14

jerry, the better question is why do we tolerate big money in elections. All elections should be ONLY publicly funded, and election season should be six weeks ending in a national holiday to vote.

  25. jerry 2020-10-21 10:15

o, but then we would be like the many countries of Europe. Then we would have open elections and not voter suppression. trump has burned through a Billion Dollars with the majority of it going into the pockets of his grifters. How could we corrupt the system without the crooks…er special interests, killing democracy?

  26. jerry 2020-10-21 10:21

Turns out that trump banks in China for the interest they pay…so they say. I guess you must grift where you can. Note to GNOem, discuss with chubby on how to get more bang for your grifting bucks in a Chinese bank.
