South Dakota Deadline to Register to Vote Is Today!

Hey! If you’re planning to vote in the general election and have not registered to vote in South Dakota, today is your deadline to register.

Keep Calm and Register to Vote
…today!

If you just moved here (thanks for coming!), or if you moved across the state to a different Legislative district, or if you are going to turn 18 by November 3, or if you just finished your probation for a felony (yes, in South Dakota, felons get their voting rights back), or if you’ve just never bothered to vote before but can’t sit around letting old crabby racists make decisions for you and burn America down, go register today, right now.

The voter registration form is here on the Secretary of State’s website. You can fill it out on your computer, but you can’t submit it electronically. You’ll need to make a hard copy and deliver it personally to your county auditor today. You aren’t registered until the county auditor has the form in hand, so while we love the United States Postal Service, handing your voter registration form to your friendly neighborhood Postal worker today means you won’t get to vote on November 3.

So wash your hands, put on your mask, and go to your county courthouse. (That’s my preferred office, but according to SDCL 12-4-2, you can also register to vote at your city finance office and at any location that provides “driver licenses; food stamps; temporary assistance for needy families; women, infants, and children nutrition program; medicaid; military recruitment; and assistance to the disabled as provided by the Department of Human Services.”) Find your auditor (if you’re not sure where that office is, just ask—everyone in the courthouse works for you) and say, “I want to register to vote.” The form takes two minutes to fill out. You’ll need to give your name, physical address, date of birth, and either your driver license number, a non-driver ID card number, or the last four digits of your Social Security number. If you still have a voter registration on file elsewhere, the auditor will ask you to put that previous address on the form, too. The form asks for your party affiliation—just write Democratic and sign!

And since you’re there at the auditor’s window, you might as well take another couple minutes to vote. Once the auditor has your form in hand and punches some buttons, you are a voter and can vote right then and there, today! Hand the auditor the registration form, ask for a ballot, and do your patriotic duty.

We have two weeks and a day left to vote, but today is the last day to register in South Dakota. Minnesota, Iowa, Wyoming, and Montana allow voters to walk in and register on Election Day; South Dakota has yet to catch up with such enlightened, pro-voter policy. Vote for the right people (especially on your Legislative ballot), and we may be able to extend the deadline for voter registration in future elections.

But for now, the voter registration deadline is today, fifteen days before Election Day.

Register Today. Vote Today.

Democracy is under attack and if you do not register and vote shame on you.

The flock of sheep that follow lying Donald J Trump are indeed deplorable! Having fallen for the con-job perpetrated on the electorate in 2016 is understandable, but after nearly four years of observing this deeply flawed, deranged and miserable excuse for a president, to consider voting for him again is not understandable to me.

I realize that I am preaching to the choir, If you are reading and or participating in this platform I assume you will vote, I plead with you to engage your circle to spread the word to anyone who may need help to register or vote. Pray for a peaceful resolution to this election.

Trumpolini claims two million volunteers door knocking, has anyone seen one?

Registration’s over; nothing left now but to get out and vote if you haven’t already.

If you haven’t registered and still want to do something, you can do plenty from the comfort of your home. Don’t be a Trump superspreader; call up your local Dems and sign up for phone banking. Contact Team Biden, get a list of voters in a swing state, and send them some love and encouragement from the heart of Trumpistan.

Lest any of your readers be confused, Mr. H, they must not vote for Mr. Trump.
    Vote Jo. She’s a Go.

This website is keeping running totals on early voting by states. So far, if I read it right, and that’s always iffy when it comes to me and numbers, Democrats are hugely outnumbering others in votes submitted and accepted.

Grdz- king of confusion here. Troll to the max. A death wisher. Servant to Koch Industries.

Rush Limbaugh, i remember reveled in “I hope he (Obama) fails”. Poor Rush is dying of lung cancer, say the headlines. Yes, the useful idiot Trump used to push his agenda of division. Trump bestowed our highest civilian honor on Rush. The Medal of Freedom. Forever tainted now. I remember not too long ago the viciousness of Rush’s daily rants that he’d smoke his Cuban cigars and drive the biggest gas guzzler luxury car just to obstruct any effort by Obama to save the planet’s climate and save the public’s health. He is, as of a week ago still beating the drum to hell that the pandemic is a “Democrat hoax”. Still.

Then there are the militias, the heavily armed 2nd amend. para-military white supremacists/nationalists groups whose death threats to Democratic governors, the KKK, the NRA and unmasking trolls are playing out in the streets.

And the rush for another right wing SCOTUS confirmation. By a Senate that refused to hear, advise and consent centrist judge Merrick Garland, Obama’s February 2016 appointment.

John Thune gets “sent” to Moscow after Mitch McConnell refuses to allow the intelligence institutions to warn of Russian meddling in the 2016 election. That right wing Senate.

Intercept founder Glenn Greenwald called Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) “the most pathological liar in all of American politics” accusing the House Intelligence Chairman in an interview on Fox News of fabricating “accusations at the drop of a hat the way other people change underwear.”

I assume this clown doesn’t know, Donald J Trump, the Rapid Fire Liar, and lest we forget he is a legend in his own twisted mind.

Does Dan Ahlers, have a chance against Junior Senator Mike Rounds?

Rounds is all about common sense. He says, in ad after ad after ad. He has tens or hundreds of millions of dollars to spend to bury Dan’s message. Rounds has made a name for himself as apologist for Trump—re-explaining Trump’s worst and most unreasonable policy implementations.

So has VP Pence. His debate recently w/ Sen Kamala Harris stressed common sense. He described Trump’s administration and policies as normal, low key common sense governing—something the rest of us have not witnessed in the last three plus years. Bizarre to say the least.

Neither Rounds nor Pence have anything greater to campaign on. Rounds is smarter than both Trump and Thune. He was actually a governor and long time Republican SD politician. And his family is struggling with cancer, his wifes. Many many of us gas lost loved ones to the worst cancers. Yet incredibly, Rounds has disparaged Obamacare for ten years, now better known as the ACA. Rounds wants the new SCOTUS (ACB) replacement for RBG (rip), to tip the balance and hold this vital medical coverage in the US unconstitutional under then mandatory enrollment requirement, which SCOTUS deemed a TAX. And then overturn Roe v. Wade yet save Citizens United allowing his billionaire constituents to run over our votes.

Rounds’ folksie “common sense” is the common sense of the several hundred billionaires, and not our common sense. Republicans play games with our lives. They do not care. You will never have the quality of health care at little cost that he and his family receive.

    Never.

Unless you vote him out. Dan Ahlers for US Senate. Wrest control of the Senate from the GOP. You have seen what calamity their control has brought!

Here’s a good one, Atlanta murderer Long purchased gun the day he murdered 8 innocent civilians. Now try to register and vote the same day in Georgia. Nuh uh, can’t do it. That is a crime.
