Equality SD Endorses Ahlers and 63 Legislative Candidates

Equality South Dakota has issued its endorsements for the 2020 general election. Dan Ahlers gets the nod over junior Senator Marion Michael Rounds, who didn’t bother to fill out EqSD’s brief questionnaire. Neither did rookie Congressman Dusty Johnson or Libertarian challenger Uriah Luallin, leaving us with no LGBT guidance on the House race.

63 Legislative candidates receive EqSD endorsements: four independents, ten Republicans, and 49 Democrats.

31 Republicans draw EqSD’s active opposition for their past anti-equality voting record. 13 of those anti-equality Republicans, including drunk Senator Brock Greenfield and yahoos like Fred Deutsch, Phil Jensen, and Tony Randolph, face no challenger on November’s ballot.

Equality SD says voters can’t go wrong in District 7. They endorse everyone on the Legislative ballot in Brookings: Republican Senator VJ Smith and his Democratic challenger Bill Adamson, as well as Republican Representative Tim Reed, Republican rerun Larry Tidemann, and Democratic challenger Louise Snodgrass. Equality SD endorses with similar equanimity in District 12, saying either Republican Senator R. Blake Curd or Democratic challenger Jessica Meyers would be fine,  District 17, where Senator Arthur Rusch and Democratic challenger Ailee Johns both get endorsements, and District 32, where Noem appointee Senator Helene Duhamel and Democratic challenger Michael Calabrese both give the right answers for equality.

The Post Office destruction should be the last straw for South Dakotan’s. There is probably very few states that need and use the system as much as we do here. We have a lack of internet communication so really the Post Office is our last and best means of taking care of our commerce. Think of it this way, how would farmers and ranchers be able to get their subsidy checks if not for the mail? My medications come in the United States Mail as do so many of my fellow veterans. People outside of the military family also get their prescriptions through the mail. It’s cheaper and used to come directly to your door or to the mailbox close to our homes…until trump/EB5 Rounds.

The QANON party is destroying all that worked so well and for so long in this country. Dan Ahlers better be calling out his tone deaf opponent EB5 Short Rounds on this… hourly…Presser Dan, call a presser, make it quick.

The endorsements are coming from Equality SD PAC and not from Equality SD. Equality SD is a 501c4 non-profit and cannot engage in political activity. Equality SD PAC is a separate entity. Cory, please replace Equality SD with Equality SD PAC in this story. Thanks for running it.

It’s great for SD that it has Equality SD PAC to look to for good advice on voting. The guide is easy to read and understand. Follow the links folks and get some knowledgeable voting information.

I see they’re supporting Toni Miller in House District 9. Excellent choice!

Here’s what Real Congressional Representation does:
    __________________________

Advocating for veterans who receive prescriptions by mail

Last week, I sent a letter to the Postmaster General outlining my concern for the 80% of VA prescriptions filled by mail. I will not stand by and watch these recent attempts to politicize, dismantle and delay postal services, which put the lives of more than 330,000 veterans every day at unnecessary risk. We cannot allow partisanship and the politicization of this essential service to endanger those who have served our country.

    Calling for oversight

Over the weekend, I called on leadership to convene Congress immediately to hold the Postmaster General accountable. I’m pleased that we will return to Washington later this week to perform oversight and vote on legislation protecting the USPS.

Cosponsoring the Delivering for America Act

The Delivering For America Act would prohibit the Postal Service from implementing any changes to the operations or level of service it had in place on January 1, 2020, until the COVID-19 pandemic has ended. This legislation would maintain current service standards as well as the integrity of our elections and bedrock democratic principles.

    Meeting with postal workers

Today, I met with postal workers in South St. Paul to hear directly from them about the changes happening in our community and how that is affecting the mail. Last week, my office received more than 1,000 emails and calls from folks concerned about the vital services USPS provides.

If you are not receiving your mail on time or have concerns about how recent USPS changes could affect you, contact my Burnsville office to share your story.

That’s only the US Mail related activities of US Rep. Angie Craig D-MN2. She also met with farmers, small business owners and workers last week. Imagine if SD’s representation worked as hard for their constituents rather than for Mangled Mango and GOP ownership. 😥
