Noem Will Not Replace Pence, Says Groomer Lewandowski

Trump strat-apologist Corey Lewandowski is grooming Kristi Noem for his next chess move, but the man who made Trump king crushes our speculations that our Snow Queen could be Donald’s queen:

“Donald Trump and Mike Pence are going to run to be the chief executive officers of our country for another four years,” Lewandowski told KELO.com News. “They are going to do that together. That is unequivocal.”

…Lewandowski says Noem probably could have stayed in Washington, D.C. as a Congresswoman as long as she wanted but she came home to her ranch and her family. South Dakota is where she belongs and being the governor at least for now, according to Lewandowski.

However, Lewandowski has been advising Noem and helping her raise her national profile. He says Noem is the future of the Republican Party.

“She’s a smart articulate woman who is serving as the chief executive officer, serving with conservative principles,” Lewandowski said.

Lewandowski says the GOP needs to be more inclusive. However, she says leaders like Noem and Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds are a big part of the process buy they are “not caving to left-wing ideals” [Todd Epp, “Lewandowski: ‘Unequivocal’ that Noem Will Not Replace Pence on the GOP Ticket,” KELO Radio, 2020.07.02].

The suggestion that Kristi Noem (or Corey Lewandowski) represents inclusivity should make us laugh. The sign that we’re stuck with her for two more years should make us groan. The fact that she’s spending time (and our money!) in office focusing on some national politico’s advice to boost her national profile should make us wonder if she’s really focusing on the job we elected her to do here in South Dakota. South Dakota might be better off if Noem did replace Pence on the GOP ticket, leave office to focus on the national campaign she appears to crave, and leave us governed by someone who has no interest in or chance of advancing to the national stage.

Besides, if Corey could convince Donald to replace the most boring wingman ever with a real live fake cowgirl, Kristi could pay for her entire campaign with the Future Fund, saying that raising South Dakota’s national profile with a vice-presidential bid is economic development!

You know when someone says that Noem is the future of the Republican Party they are saying that party’s future is going further down the road of incompetence, nepotism and corruption. That ought to scare the bejesus out of Republicans.

If Gnome is the GOP idea of “a smart, articulate woman,” they are in worse shape than I thought.

GNOem is the future of the current republican party, no doubt about it. She has shown how articulate she is on stealing South Dakota taxpayer money to pop some firecrackers. Articulate in showing how she is a racist wretch of a human in dealing with the Natives of this state to endanger them as a political prop for Lew and Owski (sounds like two bumpkins). Yes, she is the perfect banner carrier for a party that is as anti-American as ISIS, only interested in the money, as they are. Time for real Republicans to abandon her and her party and to remember who they are, Americans first.

    Lewandowski gets it.

Pence and GNOem will be the ticket. Chubby will resign as soon as he can package up all he and the rest of his gang have stolen. Lew and Owski has it all figured out.

I never thought it would be said out-loud, yet it is clear that some elected constitutional officers only represent those who agree with their view of the world, not just public policy, but entire view. I am not sure it is a failure of our educational system or more likely the unwillingness to be educated and change an ill-informed, narrow view of history, life, etc. Sorry for the rambling random thoughts.

This news sort of makes me sad. I’ve been hoping that Kristi would board the Titanic, being captained by Trump AFTER it hit the iceberg, so we could at least get her out of our lives for a while as the ship she longs to board sinks in November.

jerry, I think you might be right. Trump is the master of disaster and the master of escape. I know he hates to lose, and he’s staring at a double digit loss. He can escape his disaster now and blame every one else, head for far white right wing media as marketer in chief, and develop training camps for the gun nut and racist militia cult, etc. It could be a lucrative end to an ignoble career.

Trump’s career is littered with the shambles he makes out of almost everything, then finding some way to escape to eff-up again. I can see him deciding to leave it to Pence to pull off a miracle win helped by voter suppression. And, yeah, Noem would be the type of incompetent ho that appeals to the right.

I think it depends on whether he trusts Pence to pardon him and his litter, and whether he can be assured another country will take him if states come after him for his criminal misdeeds.

Donald’s point about Trump’s possible resignation in exchange for a Pence pardon seems right on the money. With a Pence pardon Trump would avoid federal prosecution for alleged federal crimes, such as conspiring with Michael Cohen to violate election laws (as “individual 1” named in Cohen’s indictment), among who knows how many other federal crimes.

But if Trump simply loses to Biden the chances for a pardon are likely to completely evaporate unless Trump has the constitutional power to pardon himself before Biden is sworn in, apparently an open question.

As for whether a President may grant a self-pardon, no past President has ever issued such a pardon. As a consequence, no federal court has addressed the matter. That said, several Presidents have considered the proposition of a self-pardon, and scholars have reached differing conclusions on whether such an action would be permissible based on the text, structure, and history of the Constitution. Ultimately, given the limited authority available, the constitutionality of a self-pardon is unclear.

And given Barr’s record it seems likely that he would direct the Justice Department to throw all of its weight behind Trump’s constitutional authority to self-pardon.

. . . The federal courts have recognized that the power conferred by Article II, Section 2 of the Constitution is quite broad, establishing virtually “unfettered executive discretion” to grant clemency.45 The judiciary accordingly has been reticent to weigh in on clemency matters within the purview of the executive branch, particularly given separation-of-powers constraints inherent in the Constitution’s structure.46 . . . .

If, however, a self-pardon is judicially reviewable and is found by the SCOTUS to be inconsistent with the Constitution, and Trump doesn’t resign in time to be pardoned by Pence, then Trump could end up spending the rest of his life in a federal prison. Although resigning is probably Trump’s most rational move, Trump hasn’t exactly established a record of particularly rational behavior.

Like Ford did Nixon – Biden will pardon Trump – to “save the country” and “bring us together” and “end the divide”. The script is already written. Completely predictable.

Floppy Fraud better end up in prison. He’s a career criminal.

jerry – I won’t believe it until it doesn’t happen.
