Pierre Paper Pushes Noem for VP

Seeing Trump intellgentsi-brownshirts Corey Lewandowski and Sebastian Gorka cutting videos promoting the South Dakota Republican Convention should only heighten speculation that the floundering Nazis are trying to putsch Kristi Noem into Mike Pence’s place at Donald Trump’s side. Tom Lawrence has explored the Lewandowski-Noem connection, her national-media pandering, and her apparent (transparent?) aspiration to return to glamorous Washington as a Trumpista. I’ve explored all the pieces that are falling into place to support the seductive VP pitch she could make when she gets all that precious home turf face time she’ll get with the Donald during the Mount Rushmore fireworks with 7,500 of their fellow (handpicked?) Americans.

Now her local organ of pro-state propaganda jumps in with a feeler piece suggesting the entirely thinkable, that Noem is in the chute to replace Pence:

Even as Trump bashes CNN, a national poll the network released this week shows the president trailing Democrat Joe Biden by a count of 55% to 41%. However, the details of the poll show Trump leads among male voters by 2 percentage points … but trails among female voters by a whopping 27 points.

…Vice President Mike Pence, with all due respect, is kind of boring. It seems likely to me Trump selected Pence as his 2016 running mate to shore up skeptical base Republican voters.

Noem’s national profile has been growing for several months throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. She continues to get high marks in conservative circles for her refusal to issue a shelter-in-place mandate at any point during the crisis, even when officials in Sioux Falls specifically asked her to do so amid the outbreak at the Smithfield Foods pork packing plant….

Trump is on his way to South Dakota to celebrate Fourth of July with fireworks at Mount Rushmore. This is the first time the fireworks will take place at this venue in more than a decade.

Noem now takes regular jabs at the media.

Although it is only one poll, considering Trump’s 27-point deficit to Biden among female voters in the CNN survey, wouldn’t it make sense for the president to try to mitigate this problem by selecting a successful female governor who is still in her 40s and continues to get national attention for her response to the COVID-19 situation? [Casey Junkins, “Trump May be Eyeing Noem for Vice President,” Pierre Capital Journal, 2020.06.12]

Maybe Lewandowski himself dropped by to put this bug in the Cap Journal’s ear. But now it’s not just blog humor: the mainstream—or at least the localstream—media that Noem likes to attack is now picking on the signs that she’s after something far bigger than keeping South Dakota open for coronavirus. She’s ready to be Palin II

Palin two… Sarah Palin was only in her second year of governing Alaska when John McCain’s behind-the-scenes elitists pushed the Arizona Senator to pick her as his surprise running mate. See? The pattern is coming together….

The Dope Queen of Delusion for Vice
President of the United States of America ?
You have heard of the seven signs of the Apocalypse….
    That would be number 8.

The Christian Evangelical base would not allow Mike Pence’s removal from the ticket. He’s also a strong draw for Republican women. If Donald Trump wants to appeal to women voters, maybe he should consider a sex change operation. After the election, he can always switch back. Then again for him, golfing from the red tees might be worth the switch.

I didn’t even know Pierre had a weekly paper.

Quatsch. The big guffaw in that editorial comes with this question: “…wouldn’t it make sense for the president to try to mitigate [his woman] problem by selecting a successful female governor who is still in her 40s and continues to get national attention for her response to the COVID-19 situation?”

So much there to chew on. “Let’s try,” as my Mom sometimes said, “to think above our waists.” But we do have to consider the obvious. Trump would select Noem for VP for one reason, and that reason resides below Noem’s waist. There are two problems with this. One, Biden is already leading on the female VP issue. Trump dumping Pence for Noem would just be copycatting Democrats. Two, with Trump, you have to consider the vagina-grabbing angle. Noem would just make his sexism more obvious.

But there are more important issues. Noem is hardly competent, and getting national exposure for her COVID incompetence is not a selling point to women who actually want someone who is going to keep families safe. The Smithfield COVID breakout and the inadequate response to protecting citizens resulted in deaths. Say what you want about Pence, but until Trump bumped him aside, he was doing a pretty good job trying to rehabilitate the administration’s COVID response after Trump bumbled around for months.

Along this line Noem rarely showed up for her job in Washington, and, until the TV studio was built, she was pretty much absent in Pierre. Choosing Noem would simply be doubling down on incompetence and excessive absenteeism at the job.

There is so much opposition research on Noem to dump that it would sink her like the Titanic. Noem’s lies about her family history is gift wrapped for Democrats to exploit. She’s not even very artful in her dodges and lies. She has obvious tells. Other things: nepotism, staff churning, bullying a high school girl, the taxpayer-funded TV studio, “Meth. We’re On It!” She’s been a disaster as Governor, and one of the most disliked in America. If being a vainglorious bitch is a qualification for Vice President, Trump couldn’t do better.

This is a plant from established republicans in South Dakota to get NOem’s sorry behind out of South Dakota. They know that she is unqualified to be a governor so they want to boot her out of the state. They know that the trump/NOem ticket would be a huge failure and that then, she would be out of a job with only lobbying prospects (good money and again, out of the state). Can you imagine NOem and ______ in a VP debate? NOem would be torn a new one. Was there a /s/ after the article?

Trump comes. Kristi’s promised fireworks happen. A wildfire breaks out. (Fire expert has warned about this, we’re in a drier than usual cycle so far this year in the Black Hills.) National news covers how Trump insisted on fireworks at Mt. Rushmore and set the Black Hills National Forest on fire. National and state news cover how Kristi handed him the keys to do this. Publicity disaster ensues.

    It could happen……

COVID Kristi will shrivel like an ant under a magnifying glass when the national press and the DNC research teams start tearing into her. I won’t repeat rumors about her going back a ways, but her lies about her father’s death and the estate tax is not going to get the kid gloves treatment from the national press. Her speeding tickets, refusal to appear in court and arrogance about the rule of law won’t get the fuzzy treatment they received by the South Dakota media. The hundreds of thousands in ag welfare will be an issue for certain. Conflicts of interest involving family will be aired for millions of new readers. Her lack of accomplishments in the U.S. House (cell phone in the committee hearing is on video) and her blunders and laziness as Governor will tell folks all they need to know.

COVID Kristi is lazy. COVID Kristi lies. COVID Kristi plays the victim (falsely) with the state’s toothless news media. COVID Kristi uses her positions to line her pockets and can’t be trusted around large sums of federal largess.

And while Sarah Palin was a nobody when she was nominated to run with McCain, she came from an attractive and famous state. South Dakota is not going to excite anyone … and COVID Kristi is a dull unknown without Palin’s enthusiasm. This is a national stage, and Kristi Noem is a nobody. There are far better choices elsewhere, including keeping Pence.

I respectfully disagree with 96 Tears’ prognostication. Of course, 96 Tears is 100% correct in observing:

COVID Kristi is lazy. COVID Kristi lies. COVID Kristi plays the victim (falsely) with the state’s toothless news media. COVID Kristi uses her positions to line her pockets and can’t be trusted around large sums of federal largess.

What 96 overlooks, however, is that such conduct is a close reflection of Donald J. Trump’s conduct of record. In light of Trump’s election and relatively impervious favorability ratings it appears that these attributes, coupled with extreme quatsch, are exactly what Trump’s fans are looking for in a guru. They will likely love another individual for VP who shares Trump’s traits and proclivities, especially someone who has inviting body parts ready for Trump to grab. Kristi should be a shoo-in.

Here is how NOem will be when asked a simple question from the press. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xRkWebP2Q0Y
Gwaad, I would break out the popcorn to see how our moron is so identical to Sarah. Please pick her trump so we can get her the hell out of our lives. The way she has handled the virus is just so Palinish and trumpish that it just makes you want to say ish.

We all remember what an asset Caribou Barbie was to McCain’s 2008 campaign.

I agree with Jerry on this one RP wants her not only gone but squashed, humiliated.
There are hawk eyes preying and watching waiting for the right moment and this would be it. Choosing her for
The 28% Gnome pickup is poor choice, because the 28% will want different beliefs than orange hair guy. Women just don’t follow
    Women “just because” or extemporaneous

Would the VEEP position also be done from Castlewood?

The sequel is never as good, but, when the first movie (Palin) wasn’t good to begin with, then what can one say? And has the oath ever been taken wearing a trucker hat? Remember too, that cases don’t matter, but they do have a hospital bed waiting for you. Also remember, the Vice President’s residence does have a fence with a large front porch, which could come in handy as one sits down to relax and read the Sanford Hydroxychloroquine study results. There’s also enough lawn to grow some hemp there, too. But, if McCain wasn’t a hero in Trump’s mind, then would picking Noem for VP be a cowardly act for Trump, too, or merely an act by one who isn’t man enough on his own?

  15. Debbo 2020-06-13 00:17

Kruel Kristi is similar to Palin in that she’s an “outdoorsy gal” as well.

KK rides horses. SP rode snow machines. KK shoots varmints and cuts off their tails. SP shot wolves from helicopters. KK hires her daughter to do nothing. SP’s daughter gets famously pregnant. KK’s husband makes nonexistent feel good videos. SP’s husband gets in fights. KK finds governing so boring she doesn’t want to live there. SP finds governing so boring she quits.

Yep, Deranged Doofus definitely ought to pick Kruel Kristi for his VP.

I think that, nationally, she would be considered irresponsible for refusing to expand Medicaid.
