Turner County Fair Canceled; State Fair Copies Trump-Tulsa Coronavirus Liability Warning

The august August Turner County Fair has been cancelled due to coronavirus.

But hey, Turner County, why not steam ahead and just put a scary black splash page on your website, the way LGAS Larry Rhoden has done with the State Fair website?

Somehow I can’t bring myself to click “Dismiss” to a warning like that. South Dakota State Fair coronavirus warning, State Fair website splash page, retrieved 2020.07.01.

Exposure to COVID-19 is an inherent risk in any public location where people are present. The South Dakota State Fair cannot guarantee you will not be exposed during your visit.

We will implement enhanced health and safety measures for our guests and staff members during the 2020 South Dakota State Fair.

COVID-19 is an extremely contagious disease that can lead to severe illness and death. The CDC and State of South Dakota advise those who are particularly vulnerable to COVID-19, including those over age 60 and those suffering from underlying medical conditions to evaluate their own risk in determining whether to attend the State Fair. People who show no symptoms can spread Coronavirus if they are infected, and any interaction with the general public poses an elevated risk of infection. By visiting the South Dakota State Fairgrounds, you voluntarily assume all risks related to exposure to COVID-19 [South Dakota State Fair, website splash page, retrieved 2020.07.01].

Inherent risk in any public location… extremely contagious… severe illness and death… at least they’re not leading with “Get Out There!™” But that language sounds familiar… where have we heard that business about inherent risk and voluntarily assuming all of it before?

By clicking register below, you are acknowledging that an inherent risk of exposure to COVID-19 exists in any public place where people are present. By attending the Rally, you and any guests voluntarily assume all risks related to exposure to COVID-19 and agree not to hold Donald J. Trump for President, Inc.; BOK Center; ASM Global; or any of their affiliates, directors, employees, agents, contractors, or volunteers liable for any illness or injury [Donald J. Trump Tulsa Rally registration page, screencapped by Jessica Lee, “Do Tulsa Trump Rally Attendees Have to Sign COVID-19 Waiver?” Snopes.com, 2020.06.16].

Keep an eye out for LGAS Rhoden to crib that Trump language onto your Huron gate tickets… and check to see if he lawyers that liability waiver better than lazy Team Trump did.

In addition to the State Fair, the Central States Fair in Rapid City August 21–30 remains on. So does the Sioux Empire Fair August 1–8.

There are plans for a large van, or perhaps a fancy motor camper, to carry a half dozen or so of the Rhoden Rhangers to Huron to take in this sweet event. We will be watching the level of the covid bugs in the county of Beadle and wearing masks as we golf cart about the grounds in search of fair food and beer tents, and visiting with LGAS Rhoden in the Big Republican Tent, where all are welcome and diversity is encouraged.

That’s a lot of verbiage just to say, “COVID-19, We’re on it!”

    Thank you, Minnesota Gov. Walz!

“One clear pattern: a state’s governor seems to matter. New cases in states with Republican governors, regardless of how those states voted in 2016, now considerably outpace those in states run by Democrats.”

I want to see the entire SDGOP leadership at every fair that happens in SD for more than one day. They should be barefaced and in the midst of as many unknown people as possible. They can clearly demonstrate to South Dakotans just how bravely they are doing their part for the state.

World’s largest county fair pulled the plug. But why, Grudzilla is asking his hairy self……for reasons.

The decision, announced following a vote by the Fair Executive Committee, was made amid concerns over the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. After weeks of exploring various options, it became clear that the Fair could not protect the health and safety of fairgoers, staff, volunteers, 4-H/FFA youth, exhibitors, vendors, sponsors, and entertainers during the nine-day event.

Can’t protect? You must deflect. To safe mode like real adults would do.

The CEO of Snopes was just suspended for lying.
