June Too Early to Come Out; Fort Sisseton Cancels Festival

The folks running the Fort Sisseton Historical Festival think June 5 is too early to drop our guard against coronavirus. They’ve called off their show for the year:

“We had initially hoped to simply postpone this year’s event until a later date,” said Ali Tonsfeldt, Fort Sisseton park manager, in the release. “However, it takes months to plan, book, and properly host the annual Historical Festival. Since there’s currently no indication of when it will be safe to host a large public event, we are not able to confidently select an alternative date for 2020 that does not carry the same risk of cancellation and lasting financial impact to our organizations” [“Fort Sisseton Festival Canceled,” Aberdeen American News, 2020.04.21].

Sad, but sensible.
