DOT Says Things Moving Too Fast Around Bryant

THis is what it feels like driving through Bryant....
This is how Kristi feels driving through Bryant….

The Transportation Commission has one more rule change coming up at its October 24 meeting: an expansion of the speed zones around Bryant on SD Highway 28. DOT wants to slow folks coming into Bryant from the west down to 45 miles per hour 815 feet further west of town, then expand the 35-mph zone through town another 1,982 feet.

What? How on earth can this expansion of government regulation have reached the Transportation Commission? Don’t they know they are slowing down travel on the shortest trunk highway route (by miles and minutes, according to Google Maps) from Pierre to Governor Kristi Noem’s real home on US 81 northeast of Hayti?

Oh, wait—maybe they do know that.

Or maybe our Governor has her own reasons for wanting to slow down traffic through Bryant….

Mom, really, you don't have to move speed limit signs for me. I won't drag-race through Bryant, I promise!

    This does not matter.
There are no speed limits in Kristyland
    She drives like Janklow.

Dude…Kids are off limits…unless they work for her…

And….you have beating Mayor Schaunamann to death about his ethical standards, where is your post about Councilman Bunsness and his CLEAR violations. I won’t hold my breath…b/c its do as I say, not as I do.

DR @ 8:55 did you post this in the wrong comment section? Nothing in the article about any Mayor’s ethics. Asking for a friend.

Not wrong section. Just commenting on my observations.

Speaking of moving too fast, a 40 year old Sutherland iowa man in a Blazer collided with a side by side utility vehicle in the middle of a gravel intersection where neither party bothered to slow down and ease into intersection on the suspicion someone might be coming.

The 62 year old in the side by side was killed and two children riding with him were injured.

If you are dumb enough to believe in the right hand rule of intersections when it comes to betting your life, you probably need to be removed from the breeding pool.

Slow the heck down and live and let someone else live, as well!

DR, I took a photo posted by Kristi Noem to her public campaign Facebook page. Photos published for campaign advantage are entirely in bounds.

And DR, if we’re going to get off topic, the difference is that I apparently don’t need to press the issue of Councilman Bunsness’s conflicts of interests, because he has admitted he violated ethics. Mayor Schaunaman has yet to admit his conflicts of interest and his utterly Trumpish self-promotion.

This post seems rather nitpicky irrelevant to me. fwiw

Sometimes it’s the little things that get us through the day.
