Aberdeen Development Corporation Handling Novstrups’ New Building Permit

In another sign that Senator Al Novstrup (R-3/Aberdeen) isn’t the free-market conservative he pretends to be, the Aberdeen American News reports that the go-kart impresario and his son needed the Aberdeen Development Corporation to get their two-million-dollar building permit for them:

Recently, a $2 million building permit was issued to Aberdeen Development Corp. for the construction of Allevity Entertainment, a business co-owned by David Novstrup and Al Novstrup. The move is pretty common, [Aberdeen Development Corp. exec Michael] Bockorny said. Companies reach out to the development corporation for myriad reasons, he said, from grant and loan requests to basic business advice. Often, a new business is proven to be successful, but the entrepreneur doesn’t initially have enough capital to see it through. Bockorny and his team aid requests however possible, whether that’s by working with financial institutions or just providing useful contacts [Erin Ballard, “Bockorny: City Can Move Beyond Retail Struggles {paywall},” Aberdeen American News, 2019.07.15].

Republicans like the Novstrups say they believe in self-reliance… until they need some non-profit collective to lower the cost of their building permit.

Now, my friends; you see how the Socialistic GOP really operates (and co-operates) with each other for THEIR benefit (not society as a whole)!! Within a short time of hours or days though they will be blaming Democrats for being Socialistic regarding health care, minimum wage, worker protection etc.Sorta picking ‘winners and losers’ the Development Corporation is! I thought this part of business expansions were done by banks and business owners.

Can’t trust a word that comes out of the Nostrap’s mouth.

If I need a building permit, I’ll go down to the courthouse and get it myself. If I don’t have the capital to make my business work, I’ll go get it by showing investors my awesome and bulletproof business plan that will make every good capitalist rain money on me.

Cory you really need to give up the constant stories about Al. It just comes off as vindictive and angry….regardless of your topic. You lost, again. Get used to it.

Nice deflection, Steve. Would you care to address why a good conservative needs a collective taxpayer-supported agency to take out his building permit for him? That’s the real issue, not me.
