Why Sutton Is a Democrat: Fighting for Middle Class, Working Class, Education, Affordable Health Care

Kristi Noem and Billie Sutton debated at the Sioux Falls Rotary Club today. Moderator Jack Walsh gave the candidates a chance to ask each other one question.

Hugh Weber shares this video of Kristi Noem’s question, which seems to acknowledge that Sutton really is conservative on many issues and perhaps does not fit in the party of Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton, and Billie Sutton’s non-partisan response:

I’m registered as I am because I believe in fighting for the middle class. I believe in fighting for the working class. I believe that education and investments in education can pull you up and give you opportunities that you would have never had. I believe that access to health care coverage, affordable health care coverage, gives you opportunities to succeed in this state. That’s why I’m registered the way I am [Sen. Billie Sutton, response at Sioux Falls Rotary Club debate, as recorded by Hugh Weber, 2018.10.29].

If anyone has video of Sutton’s question to Noem and Noem’s response, feel free to share, and I’ll add it to this post.

Well done, well done! Noem set Billie up for a killer response. She ought to be kicking herself for that. Did the candidates know ahead of time they’d get this opportunity to question their opponent?

I’d sure like to know what Sutton asked Noem and her reply. Interesting.

I think he asked her why she decided to run for governor six days after she won reelection to the House. She just explained it. There were almost zero fireworks in this forum. It was great.

I just saw Lazy Dirtball Kristi Noem’s new ad on TV. She is actually looking into the camera as if my opinion matters at all. First time! But what’s going on with her eyes? It looks like she has a lazy eye or something. The message, which is the point, is that some people are making more than minimum wage in South Dakota. Gee!

Well, thank you, Lazy Dirtball Kristi! Thanks for telling me what everybody already knew! So, what do you have to offer that nice guy Billie Sutton isn’t already offering?

And what have you done for me lately?

    Nothing?

Gosh, Lazy Dirtball Kristi Noem. Why should any rational voter choose you?

Thanks Kurt. I hope to get an opportunity to hear Noem’s explanation.

Noem is fighting for those same things.

    How ironic.

BTW, affordable doesn’t mean Government paying for it.

People that think that way only have to look at Venezuela to see what happens with that thinking.

BTW, Jason, you typed an extra “for” in your sentence.

What is it about Noem that just rubs people the wrong way? Many folks, including Republicans, recoil with disdain when her name is brought up. Even though her TV presence is quite polished, is it possible she comes across lacking sincerity? Does she rattle off talking points without seeming genuine? It’s hard to put your finger on it.

    There’s Something About Kristi.

White nationalist Jason now compares South Dakota to Venezuela and then Germany. As that is his argument, then that is mine for the last 40 years. South Dakota has continually reduced itself in commerce. We rely way to much on agriculture and as farmers will note, when tariffs come into plan, even that falls on its arse, which is more like Venezuela.

Regarding Germany and it’s tax burden, Germans have a higher standard of living than we here in South Dakota have. The Germans have healthcare, childcare, pensions, low property taxes, higher education and they have well paying jobs. I wish we were more like Germany in that regard.

Sutton will bring the change we need to be able to start the process of moving ahead.

Trump keeps mentioning Venezuela. Jason happened to mention Venezuela in his comments. Coincidence? nope. The lemming takes the bait without doing any research. That’s why we are having problems.

Ms Noem thought she would be super cute posing this question. Billie hit it out of the park and made her question fall flat. Way to go, Billie!

Noem sure isn’t fighting hard in Washington for South Dakotans. She has a horrible record of missing votes.

Go to the bottom of the page in the link above and she has one of the worst voting records in the House. Horrible, so much big talk on being such a hard worker also.
Heck, Jon Tester over in MT is running in a very competitive race this year and he hasn’t missed any votes from July to Oct! Just look him up, very impressive!

Missed meetings and missed important votes for South Dakota. That’s Kristi Noem.

Noem has very little to run on in terms of a record.
Regarding “There’s Something About Kristi,” she continues to make me think of Palin. All show and no go. She basically quit before her last congressional term began to start this campaign.
There is “Something About Kristi” and it’s not good.
