I was curious to see whether Kristi Noem took her anti-big-government slogan seriously on last Friday’s big House vote on the Federal Aviation Administration Reauthorization Act, which has big government stomping all over the free market in the skies by mandating minimum seat sizes, requiring minimum rest periods for flight attendants, banning passenger bumping, and resisting privatization of air traffic control. (I’m fine with these rules, but every one of those planks maintains or expands government regulation and reduces the role of the free market in determining services, price, and labor conditions in air travel.)
Alas, Kristi Noem wasn’t there to resist this example of big government. Instead, she chose to make government smaller by making Congress smaller and skipping all 21 of last week’s House roll call votes. Noem was out on the road campaigning and taking selfies with her daughter:
As of April 27, South Dakota’s lone Congresswoman had missed 62% of April’s 39 House roll call votes. For all four months of 2018, Noem has missed only 26% of House roll call votes. But hey, as Dusty Johnson told us last Wednesday, Congress “is done doing big things in 2018“… or, in other words, Congress is catching up with the modus under which Kristi has operandi’ed since January 2011.
That government is smallest that has the fewest legislators showing up to vote. Stick to your principles, Kristi!
Cory,
Why do you like Jackley over Noem?
Paraphrasing Michelle Wolf, Noem and congress, mastering the art of doing nothing.
John,
Is a major tax reform doing nothing?
John
Don’t take the bait from the Trumptard troll.
Roger,
Are you saying John is not intelligent enough to answer my question?
Jason, how many court appearances has Jackley missed this month?
Senator Rubio is joining the majority of voters who see the tax cuts for the wealthy are a nothingburger for working Americans.
