Schoenbeck Chills Out, Decides to Finish Job Voters Elected Him to Do

Rep. Lee Schoenbeck (R-5/Watertown) isn’t letting the illegitimi carborund him. Bob Mercer reports that Rep. Schoenbeck has rescinded his resignation promise and will see out the remainder of the 2016 Session:

Rep. Lee Schoenbeck
Rep. (still!) Lee Schoenbeck

Before leaving the Capitol on Wednesday, he said he would talk with family and reconsider the decision.

By Friday morning, he had decided he would serve the remaining 10 days of the 2016 legislative session.

“I just never expected to have as many friends and constituents contact me,” Schoenbeck said in a telephone interview.

“I’m going to go back and finish my job. I’m not going to be a member of any caucus,” he continued [Bob Mercer, “Schoenbeck Isn’t Quitting After All,” Pierre Capital Journal, 2016.02.26].

Rep. Schoenbeck has come back in off his ledge; perhaps Majority Leader Brian Gosch will back off from his own hotheadedness and let poor Lee back into caucus.

Caucus is just like cactus, it really serves no purpose other than to flatten your tires.

District 5’s boy child representative is staying- I doubt he will get much respect for the last days of his term.

Name calling is the behavior we expect from a five year old not a representative.

The SD Republicans are just following the form of the Republican presidential candidates. They are driving each other crazy…

Rep. Schoenbeck behaved very unprofessionally. Threw a major tantrum and lobbed nasty names at a lot of people. Very unbecoming of a lawyer/legislator, or any person his age for that matter. Set a bad example for his kids – till he decided to stick it out. If he threatens to quit again everybody ought to let him.

four people traveled from various states to oppose his anti-Harney peak name change “punishment” bill in senate affairs committee last week and three dem legislators opposed the bill. the committee deferred action until they could figure out what to do with this flake schoenbeck.

lee testified he took it upon himself to investigate this board after the extensive reporting on the HIN HAN KAGA counter proposal to BLACK ELK PEAK. Now a second proposal for THUNDER PEAK is pending at USBGN and lee’s bill is gumming up that proposal too. is lee carrying water for the governor and his cabinet to prevent the INDIAN TAKEOVER OF HARNEY PEAK??

now we all may have to return when the committee gets back to it, possibly asa Monday. thanks, lee. what is your problem? call up Killer, Bordeaux and/or Heinhert and kill this paternalistic, racist bill.

Spoiled Lee Schoenbeck is one of South Dakota’s richest white men.

Utilities and banks are using the state as a tax haven languishing in the regressive tax structure with which Schoenbeck, a member of a pedophile cult and the National Ravage Association (NRA), raises his campaign money.

A well-respected, less radical former Republican legislator, Stan Adelstein, was driven from the extremist South Dakota legislature for proposing the legislation Schoenbeck is being lauded for.

A state that calls itself conservative depends on federal Social Security benefits to pay the property taxes that currently bankroll the bulk of South Dakota’s moocher state bills while video lootery drives poor residents even further into despair.

South Dakota deserves the legislature it suffers.

    You rueful rubes.

No way, Gosch will never do it, forgiveness is not a part of his personality.

Richer than Mr. Estes? Richer even than Mr. Stan? That is rich indeed.

Having known L. Schoenbeck for 32 years, I’m rather disappointed that he’s decided to go back to “work.” He was an a$$hole way back when and from what I’ve seen while he’s been in the Legislature, not much has changed.

  11. Bob Newland 2016-02-28 12:44

    Agreement here, Lorri.

I bet if they made claymation figures of Schoenbeck and Gosch and had a celebrity death match that Lee would find a diabolical way to finish off Brian.

I’d also like to see Jeb against Rubio, Trump against Megan Kelly, and Hillary against Ted Cruz.

So that would leave hilary standing against marco. Fine w/me. Old V. Young; Metrosexual hipster V. Feminist; Lawyer V. What Is He? and we’d have a good race, a record turnout and an issues debate, exposure of GOP tactics and we’ll likely win.

Agreed Lorri, the GOP should have asked for his resignation. Even if you do not like Gosch, at least he was professional.

Here is comedian (or is he just a joke) Lee’s Twitter feed for the day. Should make his Brother-in-law cringe even more.

Apparently giving up the legislature for Lent was a dumb idea
