Krebs Certifies Fake 18% Petition as Amendment *U*sury

The good news: Secretary of State Shantel Krebs continues to validate petitions right on the schedule I calculated on Christmas Eve and updated last week.

The bad news: the fake 18% rate cap petition made the ballot with a 52% cushion.

The slightly less bad news: instead of making a video version of her news release and publishing it herself, Secretary Krebs let an inferior blogger use her announcement for his self-promotion.

Krebs announces certification of fake 18% petition
A dragonfly instead of a U.S. flag pin? Let the Kremlinology begin! (screen cap from Dakota War College video, 2016.01.04)

Surprisingly, the error rate on the fake 18% petition was not as bad as the embarrassing 36% error rate on the Glodt Amendment that Secretary Krebs certified on December 21. The fake 18% petition and the Glodt petition were circulated by many of the same shiftydeceptive, and unscrupulous out-of-state circulators. I guess the fakers must have made a little extra effort to avoid having an error rate that matched the percentage of the real 36% rate cap, Initiated Measure 21, that they are trying to sabotage on behalf of the usury industry.

Ah, usury. The fake 18% rate cap goes to the ballot as Amendment U. That’s U, for usury. If you vote for U, you vote for usury.

Vote Yes on 21. Vote No on U.

“U” is considered an unpleasant letter by many. It will be interesting if the label “18% interest cap” overrides the undesirable letter “U”. Or if people see the other 36% cap and vote yes and then see the 18% cap and say “that’s double good” and vote yes again, automatically.

Ugh! Undesirable! Unscrupulous! Unkind! Users! Usury!

South Dakota should know that Shantel’s brother Shurald lives in the Castle Swedlund in the Spearditch Sandstone Addition. Yes, there is much more to the story.

    Undercutting the 36% cap

Shurald is a former client, mike.

Shurald… does he still sell used cars? Would he have an interest in capping car title loans?

Why do you have a picture of photo op , and that other loser on there.

Because, Moses, Pat Powers slapped his logo on that video. I have removed the video so we are not further sickened by his gloating.

I am confused. That man and woman in Mr. Kurtz movie don’t look anything like Mr. and Mrs. PP.

Here is another great picture of Shantel Krebs. https://sos.sd.gov/Elections/VIPLogin.aspx The ticket to kicking Thune and NOem to the curb is to vote for the other person. Here is a good way to start.

Every time I see Shantel Krebs color photo I think I was linked to an adult dating site.

Vote yes for 21; vote no for U.

    What a fantastic campaign slogan!!!

Good question, Cory. There is an application for financing at the Auto Advantage website.

Say it again and again: yes on 21, no on U. My interests in the ballot questions are much broader, so I need a longer slogan (“21-22-23 T-V Yes! Everything else NO!”?), but for the folks focused on passing a real rate cap, “Yes on 21, No on U!” does the job.

If payday lenders win this round, the next initiative must be to amend the Constitution by removing the phrase “unless in writing” from the 18% limit. That should be a slam dunk.

Cory needs to educate the blogosphere by re-posting a story about how the 18% rate is the bait to trap unwary suckers into ungodly higher interest rates. If that fails, then bcb’s idea of rewording the constitution should be mandatory and re-troactive. Just like abortions for teabag nutters pols.
