Central Point of Bosworth Case: Oaths Matter

Annette Bosworth continues to testify in her perjury trial this afternoon. Much has been said, much will still be said. Permit me to summarize a central point about why petitions matter, why oaths matter, and why this trial matters.

Leonard Waldner, minister at the Millerdale Hutterite Colony near Miller, testified yesterday that he forged several colony members’ signatures on Annette Bosworth’s nominating petition. He testified that Bosworth witnessed none of those signatures. Annette Bosworth signed that petition sheet swearing that she had circulated that sheet.

Annette Bosworth’s failure to perform her primary duty as a circulator allowed forged signatures to help nominate a candidate for U.S. Senate.

As commentator Greg Belfrage said last year, oaths matter. Oaths stop citizens from committing crimes. Oaths stop falsehood from undermining the integrity of our elections. Oaths protect democracy.

Annette Bosworth filed a false oath. Annette Bosworth deserves the full punishment allowed by the law for this crime against democracy.

  1. Deb Geelsdottir 2015-05-22 17:44

Point we’ll made Cory. Regardless of who did it, they should face the consequences of their actions. I would be very disappointed if it was someone I supported, but that’s immaterial. Bosworth committed a crime. She needs to be held accountable.

Being a woman is not an excuse. We are just as capable of understanding election laws, the words of an oath we swear, and the penalties of violating that oath.

  2. tara volesky 2015-05-22 19:21

The Hutterites committed a crime too. Should we throw them in jail because they didn’t interpret the law correctly? Did you watch the trial? The Common Folk beat the establishment. Bye, Bye Marty Joel, and Patrick, the little guy kicked your ass today. Where was the Democrat establishment standing up for the little guy. The DFP and the SDWC are in competition with each other, as to who can beat the shit out of Bosworth the most. Nice……..SD corruption at it’s best.

  3. owen 2015-05-22 20:41

This isn’t about the Hutterites. If they broke they law then the AG should take care of that on a different day.
This is about Bosworth and it’s pretty obvious she broke the law and should be punished.
Democrats sticking up for Bosworth? Really?
    She belongs in jail. Period.

  4. caheidelberger Post author | 2015-05-22 20:46

Tara, a Republican Senate campaign that raised over two million dollars is no little guy… and DWC is no competition for the blog that broke all the news about Bosworth in 2013 and 2014.

  5. Roger Cornelius 2015-05-22 21:15

How far from reality does one have to be to think for a minute that Democrats would support a corrupt republican politician?
The republican Dump Site has been distancing themselves from Bosworth for sometime in spite of the fact this a republican scandal.
This trial is not over Tara, you may think the “little guy” won something today, but the reality is that the jury has not heard closing arguments and they certainly have not handed down a verdict.
Owen, Tara is of the belief that since the Hutterites committed election fraud, it is justification for Bosworth to do so too. Which brings me to the topic at hand.
In South Dakota republican taking oaths of any kind only consider them a ritual and that they mean nothing. Case in point is Daugaard waging war on working children by ignoring the will of the people on the minimum wage referendum.
I don’t know how this trial will turn out, but there is one certainty and that is people circulating petitions will now be held to higher standard, thank you Cory.

  6. Roger Cornelius 2015-05-22 21:18

Tara’s question should actually be, why isn’t the republican party actively supporting a fellow republican?

  7. Jeff Barth 2015-05-22 22:30

Apparently “moral turpitude” is not an issue for people seeking to become attorneys in South Dakota. My question is if it is a requirement?

  8. Les 2015-05-22 22:41

“”””As commentator Greg Belfrage said last year, oaths matter. Oaths stop citizens from committing crimes. Oaths stop falsehood from undermining the integrity of our elections. Oaths protect democracy.”””””

Oaths are noting more than a a lock on a door, keeping honest people honest.

  9. tara volesky 2015-05-22 23:03

Jeff, what are you talking about? If anyone listened to Bosworth’s testimony, you are all on crack cocaine if you really believed she was lying. It is just so obvious her political handlers did not do their job. You know she is not capable of lying by her testimony. Cory can testify for that. It’s not in her DNA. Just watch the video. The honesty and naivety was impossible to hide. Testimony shows, she is not capable of lying. The Rounds Boys threw her under the bus. Anybody that trades off a $500,000 a year job to take care of the homeless and minorities? Go figure! Her heart is in the right place.

  10. tara volesky 2015-05-22 23:14

How’s the Democrat party working for you boys? Maybe instead of siding with the Republican party elites in taking down anti-establishment candidates, I would think it would be in your best interest to stand behind the anti-establishment folks. Do you really think the Republican establishment would support Bosworth when she did everything in her power to expose the Republican machine?

  11. Roger Cornelius 2015-05-22 23:41

Precisely how would the Democrats support of Bosworth help the Democratic Party?

  12. Roger Cornelius 2015-05-22 23:47

What republican party corruption did Bosworth expose? Seriously.

As I recall from the campaign Bosworth was busy with her own corruption. From the fraudulent raffles, not paying her employees and others that provided services to her to the funding raising for a bogus senatorial campaign, she had her hands full of corruption.
The way Tara can rail against crony capitalism corruption and the republican party corruption you’d think the criminal antics of Bosworth would offend her.

  13. Jeff Barth 2015-05-23 00:05

One of her lawyers (testifying on the stand) said he had been fired as a Sioux Falls police officer for “moral turpitude”. Some might consider that to be a disqualifier for getting a Law license.

  14. tara volesky 2015-05-23 04:56

Well Roger, if you would have been paying attention to the primary instead of spending all your time bashing Bosworth………She had a great commercial ready to go after Rounds too. It doesn’t make sense for Cory and Steve Hickey and all the Cory Kool-Aid drinkers to spend all their time demonizing Bosworth when all she was doing was helping Weiland. Hickey said he did it to clean up his own party???????? Are you kidding me Pastor???? I would start by cleaning up one of the most corrupt states in the nation…………….Pierre SD………….that’s your party sir…….

  15. tara volesky 2015-05-23 05:00

Oh, and Lynn don’t forget to vote rubberstamp so the BTO’s get their Tahj Mohall. You might want to read what I had to say in the Mitchell paper today. I dare someone to post it….lol

  16. tara volesky 2015-05-23 05:05

Jeff, that time I meant you in Chamberlain……I knew you were a smart man……We need about 10,000 more Jeff Barths in the Democrat Party.

  17. caheidelberger Post author | 2015-05-23 07:26

Jeff, good point! Watching lawyers attack each other has been one of the lurid pleasures of the trial. Jeff Beck roused my curiosity with his dogged resistance to answering the prosecution’s inquiries into his past and his credibility. I can’t find the actual “moral turpitude” Beck kept concealing. His appeal to the Department of Labor indicates that he lost his promotion to SFPD sergeant simply because he wasn’t doing the job: slacking off, not recording his hours properly, not following orders. The defense says we can’t trust Italia Federici because she lied to the Senate and didn’t pay her taxes; can we trust Beck if he didn’t do his job for the SFPD? Is his testimony crucial?

  18. caheidelberger Post author | 2015-05-23 07:27

Les, I disagree. If an honest circulator had circulated the petition at Millerdale, the forgery would not have happened. Certainly, really bad people are going to keep being bad no matter what laws we pass. Laws allow us to pursue and punish those bad people. Laws also help restrain good people from giving in to temptation. Election laws establish clear rules for everyone to follow. Oaths and laws are not useless.

  19. caheidelberger Post author | 2015-05-23 07:36

Tara, Dr. Bosworth is entirely capable of lying. She has lied about me. Review the things she said about my stalking her son. Review the accusations she made that I paid sources for stories. Review the strange thing she said to me about being “sorry for the things that happened to you as a child,” concocting a strange and false story that awful things happened to me as a child.

    Dr. Bosworth lies.

Now chill out, Tara. Bosworth supporters like to say I’ve hyped Bosworth far too much, but the hype comes from you, Waldron, and Bosworth herself, who blow her case into party politics and massive conspiracy, which sensationalism only serves Chad and Annette’s basic pickpocket tactics: Keep people’s attention on something else while we lift their wallets.

  20. tara volesky 2015-05-23 08:38

Lying is not in her DNA. Can you post the trial so everybody can see for themselves.

  21. tara volesky 2015-05-23 08:39

    This is far from over…………..

  22. tara volesky 2015-05-23 08:40

    Can somebody post Waldron
    video on Bosworth? Please……..

  23. Nick Nemec 2015-05-23 08:48

You can post it Tara. Just cut and paste.

  24. tara volesky 2015-05-23 08:51

I don’t know how Nick. Could you please post it for me.

  25. Jenny 2015-05-23 09:21

Annette Bosworth – SDs version of Michele Bachmann. Will Annette ever just go away like Bachmann did?

  26. Jenny 2015-05-23 09:26

I heard Bosworth was going to start charging 20 bucks to have a picture taken with fans, additional charges if you want the whole family.

  27. caheidelberger Post author | 2015-05-23 09:58

No way, Jenny! Who’d you hear that from? Is there anyone around in Pierre seeking such pix? Frankly, Bosworth should be paying others to take her picture and give her press.

  28. owen 2015-05-23 09:58

Just on the political side of things Bosworth stands for the opposite of what Democrats believe in.
Why would we standup for someone who believes in ideas that would hurt our country? Why would we defend someone who has no idea what she’s talking about? Here’s an example.

  29. caheidelberger Post author | 2015-05-23 09:59

I’d love to post the trial video, Tara, but I haven’t seen KELO offering an archive yet, only the livestream. I want to review the complete transcript to find all the instances of slander against me.

  30. tara volesky 2015-05-23 10:08

Annette Bosworth’s attorney, Bob Van Norman said that for the first time in 37 years he has ever seen a judge grant immunity to a witness. The state said if Jeff Beck testifies against Joel Arends, they will prosecute him (Jeff Beck) for not reporting the crime that he witnessed Joel Arends committing. The judge made a very BOLD move to grant Jeff Beck immunity. Jenny………… your bashing Bosworth party is over! OK does anybody have the guts to post that video??????????????????

  31. Les 2015-05-23 10:10

“”””Les, I disagree. If an honest circulator had circulated the petition at Millerdale, the forgery would not have happened.””””. Exactly my point, Cory. An honest circulator does not need to be told to be honest.

The courtroom oath carries little value in many cases. We just watched a family dispute and the lies permeated the courtroom with the judge giving no attention to the attorney breaking down the witnesses truthfulness.

  32. tara volesky 2015-05-23 10:14

Wrong one Cory……………Owen, just because you disagree with her politics……..that’s one thing……… but maybe you need to watch the whole trial.

  33. Donald Pay 2015-05-23 10:22

My mom told me a lot of things about lying when I was little. I guess it was because I was always trying finagle a way out of taking responsibility for something I broke while throwing a ball in the house, or some such thing. My mom told me that I shouldn’t lie, because I was no good at it. As I grew older, I tried to get better at it, but, you know, I realized she was right. I was no good as poker, either. Just to show you how extremely bad at lying I am, I generally apologize on blogs when I’m wrong, because I’m uncomfortable with people thinking I’m trying to bullshit them, although sometimes I do bullshit just to see if I can get away with it (sorry, Mom). Bullshitting is different than lying, see, but not much different if you are really truthful about it, which I mostly am, most of the time, anyway.

I don’t understand people like Bosworth, who lie, and then believe it. What’s the George Costanza line, “It’s not a lie if you believe it.” I can’t do that. I can lie, but there’s something in me that won’t allow me to believe my own lies, and it comes out in some way that my mother could always tell. I guess I learned early to tell the truth, mostly, because I wasn’t a good liar.

Generally, I can see right through

  34. owen 2015-05-23 10:23

It isn’t just disagreeing with politics. Its the lies she tells. Democrats re going to back a liar and now a criminal. Here’s an even better example Tara. Listen to lie after lie she talks about.

  35. tara volesky 2015-05-23 10:43

Owen, I don’t think she is lying about loving God and Guns……Now could somebody post the Waldron video????? And I don’t she is lying about the fact she isn’t fond of liberal policies anymore than you would be lying about the fact you’re not fond of the right wing policies.

  36. tara volesky 2015-05-23 10:46

Where’s Lora Hubbel when I need her……….Get on here Lora and straighten Owen up. lol

  37. Daniel Buresh 2015-05-23 11:10

You are obviously too sexist to ever think to disagree with a female, a completely corrupt and wrong female to boot. It leaks through in almost every argument.

  38. Richard Schriever 2015-05-23 11:38

Daniel is on the right track Tara – your sympathies are overwhelming your logic in this case.

When Dr. Bosworth testifies truthfully on the stand that she lied when she signed the petitions – and that she knew that she was lying when she signed the petitions, and that she understood that at the time – and did it anyhow – that is the only thing that matters in this case. Whether or not her attorney advised her to do so is irrelevant (despite the defense’s attempts to make it relevant).

You saw that part – right?

  39. David Newquist 2015-05-23 11:41

This is not the first time Bosworth has been confronted by the Attorney General’s office at a hearing to determine her future. The AG’s office also presents the cases before Medical Board Hearing Examiners, where stipulations have been placed on Bosworth’s practice of medicine. Among those stipulations were that she place herself under the care of a psychiatrist and a licensed clinical psychologist. Her erratic, ego-driven behavior was the issue. That issue resurfaced during her campaign for the Senate candidacy with its land auctions (which appear to be fraudulent), the specious accusations against her opponents which took up the positions of the most extreme right-wing conspiracy theorists, the strange exhibitionism she displayed during her campaign, her constant dissembling when questioned by the media, and her treatment of employees and retaliatory accusations against her critics.

The issue of whether one who has the attentive intellect to complete a medical education and certification is so careless, unaware, and negligent when it comes to meeting the legal requirements of nomination petitions is what the jury will have to work out. The elements of the social media which have come to her defense are among the least credible and in their efforts to discredit Marty Jackley’s office have given it some unintended support. The legal wrangling over attorney testimony is irrelevant to what the jury is asked to decide, which boils down to whether Bosworth is as “innocent” and persecuted as she now claims or whether she is posturing. Whatever the jury decides, the Board of Medical Examiners will make decisions about whether Bosworth’s mental state is a concern to the medical profession.

  40. tara volesky 2015-05-23 12:00

Well guys, then I guess Dr. Aanning doesn’t know what he’s talking about when he said “They” are out to take away Dr. Bosworth’s license to practice medicine….and the election petition was their lame excuse for prosecuting this doctor…..the attorney general’s office is being pushed to proceed by those who appointed him….since the attorney general’s office is the legal arm of the licensing board (SDBMOE), and since every member (including the physicians) of the SDBMOE is hand-picked by the conflicting relations between all the protagonists supporting the prosecution……the totalitarian mind-set of the prosecution has virtually silenced the supporters of Dr. Bosworth.

  41. Roger Cornelius 2015-05-23 13:02

The first big Lie Bosworth told was about her campaign platform, recall if you will that Democratic campaigner Steve Hildreband (Bosworth hired him and she still owes him $23,000) stated emphatically that the Bosworth’s position on abortion was opposite of what her campaigned adopted.

On the Belfrage show she consistently referred to Cory as an out of state blogger when it was widely know Cory was blogging from out of state while his wife received continued education.
Did Cory ever give up his state residency or voting rights? No and Bosworth knew it. Another lie from the Annette lie file.
As Cory goes through the Bosworth testimony and the Belfrage interview he will be able to reveal more.
In defense of Bosworth, she lies so damn much she doesn’t even know that she’s is doing it, it is part of her DNA.

  42. tara volesky 2015-05-23 13:10

Cory Kool-Aid drinking Cornelius and clan.

  43. Roger Cornelius 2015-05-23 13:18

Ouch! Tara has mortality wounded me with her rapier wit.

Tara, when is Bosworth going to pay Steve Hildebrand and Jeff Beck for their services?

  44. tara volesky 2015-05-23 13:22

Maybe Steve can be Annette’s campaign manager pro bono when she runs for Governor against MJ.

  45. Roger Cornelius 2015-05-23 13:28

Maybe Steve can be her campaign for governor, but in the mean time has she paid or intends to pay Steve Hildebrand and Jeff Beck?

  46. tara volesky 2015-05-23 13:49

To bad, she spent all her money on her campaign Lawyer, Joel Arends who gave her such wonderful legal advice. Tell Steve to get the money from Joel and Patrick and all the rest of the political sharks that took advantage of a Rookie.

  47. Roger Cornelius 2015-05-23 14:03

You tell Steve to get his money from Arends or Davis.

Have you thought about the absurdity of that comment.

Bosworth’s financial delinquency is another one her continued lies.

  48. lorahubbel 2015-05-23 14:13

Oaths do matter. We took an oath to uphold the SD constitution as do all public servants. Yet legislators trample on our SD constitution all the time. Daugaard ushered in Obamacare and common core, both if which required him to disavow his oath of office. When Stace Nelson, I and others tried to stop the horrible anti scholarship bill because it addressed 5 subjects instead of only 1(HB.1234), the governor and others cut us off at the knees for meddling in HIS bill. That in itself is another breach of our constitution. ..the executive branch is restricted from writing bills and they do it all the time. . The oath if office means nothing to Pierre….when Val Rausch was Speaker , he even refuse to add, “so help me God” when he took or gave the oath

  49. Roger Cornelius 2015-05-23 14:53

So Lora, if Daugaard and other Pierre republicans repeatedly violate their oaths of office, why do republicans continually elect and re-elect them?

If Daugaard and other Pierre republicans violate their oaths of office does that give Bosworth Carte Blanche to commit petition fraud because all republicans do it.

Do oaths matter, yes they should. Given the way republicans dominate state government operates and how they usurp the power of the people, oaths don’t matter to them.

I’ve asked before and I’ll ask again, why do republicans put petition fraud into a law with criminal penalties if republicans feel they are nothing but a minor nuisance

  50. caheidelberger Post author | 2015-05-23 15:24

Correction, Tara: Bosworth did not spend all of her money on Arends; she still owes him something like $30K.

Lora agrees with us completely that oaths matter. Feel free to prosecute anyone else you see violating oaths. Be sure to include Bosworth in that punishment, because we have the evidence and have had it since March 26, 2014.

Remember, the deep irony here is that a registered Democratic blogger got the Republican Attorney General to investigate and indict a Republican Senate candidate.

  51. caheidelberger Post author | 2015-05-23 15:32

But let’s not let Lora sidetrack us. She is speaking of the general oath elected officials take to uphold the Constitution, then trying to drag us all into an argument that hinges on interpretation of law. Bosworth perjured herself by swearing an oath that she performed a very specific action that she did not perform. I need no legal interpretation to prove that Annette Bosworth did not circulate the six petition sheets in question and that each signer did not personally sign those sheets in her presence. Recall the oath:

“I, under oath, state that I circulated the above petition, that each signer personally signed this petition in my presence,…”

Lora’s argument sounds like Charles Haan’s lawsuit against Rep. Kristi Noem, based on his allegation that she had violated her oath to uphold the Constitution by taking certain political positions. The judge dismissed Haan’s lawsuit because it was a political argument against legislative actions that enjoy sovereign immunity. A judge can’t remove a legislator for legislative actions.

The Bosworth prosecution is not a political argument. It is an argument of fact. That’s why Bosworth is in court and Rausch never will be, at least not for what Lora offers to distract us.

  52. tara volesky 2015-05-23 15:41

Since no has posted the video, there are 4 of them…. go to Live Wires right 180. Are you kidding me Cory……Arends should pay Annette Bosworth that $20 thousand dollars back. Maybe if she files a malpractice lawsuit against him and a malicious prosecution lawsuit against the state, then she can take me on a mission trip with her.

  53. mike from iowa 2015-05-23 15:48

Speaking of the “oath of office” how should we eradicate wingnut pols who turned their backs on ‘murrica and pledged allegiance to Grover Norquist and no taxes?

  54. mike from iowa 2015-05-23 16:00

With any luck,Bos can take Tara to a South Sea island where cannibals eat people and then Bos would have to treat the cannibals for recurring indigestion if they ate you,Tara.

  55. Roger Elgersma 2015-05-23 16:17

Anyone who can not read and understand the rules and follow them should not have been running for office to make the rules. When one gets to arrogant as to do something dishonest and think they are not guilty, then there is a deeper problem which she had her supporters thinking that she was going to get rid of those deeper problems. They all fooled themselves together.

  56. mike from iowa 2015-05-23 16:37

Maybe Bos will claim she is a doctor so no one can read her penmanship on petitions she is charged with signing.

  57. Nick Nemec 2015-05-23 16:52

Post it yourself Tara. On my Mac you highlight the url address click the dropdown menu select “copy”. Then in your next comment select here select paste from the same menu. Or ask one of the kids to do it.

  58. caheidelberger Post author | 2015-05-23 17:09

Tara, because I’m a glutton for your punishment, I’m watching the videos to which you refer. The fourth video, after a minute of vague assertions with no specifics or evidence, asserts, “Dr. Bosworth’s life may depend on these videos reaching millions of Americans before it’s too late.” What an absurd, baseless, specious, deceptive claim! I refuse to acknowledge the value of such obvious propaganda in contributing to our understanding of this trial.

  59. caheidelberger Post author | 2015-05-23 17:17

Video #3: pretense that Bosworth is “innocently naïve” and a new Huey Long facing persecution more vague assertions with no evidence, and the same over-the-top claim that Dr. Bosworth’s life hangs in the balance. What the heck? How about I end every blog post by saying, “My life may depend on your sharing this blog with as many people as possible”? People would laugh at such a spurious claim. Get real: in what way is Bosworth’s life threatened by our not sharing these videos?

Video #2: Again, B.S., showing no way in which Jackley harmed Bosworth’s campaign. The unleashed “full power of the Attorney General’s office” didn’t cause Bosworth to get under 6% of the vote instead of the much larger share she’d have needed to beat Rounds’s majority win. No evidence supporting the assertion that every other state in the nation would ignore the swearing of a false oath. Same absurd claim that Bosworth’s life hangs in the balance.

Video #1: same vague assertions, same warning that Bosworth may die if we don’t share the video. This isn’t even creative political theater; it’s YouTube glued to a crappy old chain letter: “Send this message to ten of your friends, or this cute little girl will die.” Good night, let’s avoid stepping on cracks in the sidewalk while we’re at it.

Tara, I am disappointed that you can’t see through such propaganda. Peter Waldron is offering us no new evidence, no new understanding. He’s just recycling the smokescreen kicked up by Bosworth during her campaign and blown further after her arrest.

  60. tara volesky 2015-05-23 17:20

Nick, I can’t, I am a Moron. Cory, I love you. Those are just words of endearment when I get into my DRAMA…….Mike how would anybody know it’s Bosworth’s signatures, don’t doctors have ineligible handwriting? Maybe it Roger’s handwriting. Mike are you related to Jeffery Dahmer???

  61. caheidelberger Post author | 2015-05-23 17:24

Tara, you’re not a moron for not understanding how to copy and paste a URL. Your mental acuity is indicted by your mistaking the Waldron propaganda for useful information.

  62. Roger Cornelius 2015-05-23 17:33

These four propaganda videos can be shared with the world, or at least those with a computer. That being said, it is still the 12 people on the jury that will determine Bosworth’s fate.

Public opinion in criminal trials should not determine the outcome, Bosworth violated numerous petition laws and his now being held accountable, Facebook and Twitter won’t set her free.

  63. mike from iowa 2015-05-23 17:39

Maybe Bos is the newest, latest version of Oral Roberts. Tara you figured out,all on your own that you can’t prove Bos signed petitions because doctors have notoriously bad penmanship. I’ll tell the cannibals to just nibble on you for awhile.

  64. Kurt Evans 2015-05-23 17:44

    >“Dr. Bosworth’s life may depend on these videos reaching millions of Americans before it’s too late.”

I see “Part 1” is approaching a hundred views, so they’re roughly one twenty-thousandth of the way to two million. Perhaps Bosworth’s life will be spared.

  65. caheidelberger Post author | 2015-05-23 17:53

So I just saved Bosworth’s life?

  66. Bob Newland 2015-05-23 17:55

“when Val Rausch was Speaker , he even refuse to add, “so help me God” when he took or gave the oath”

I thought Rausch was an insufferable little prick, but at least he was right on this issue.

  67. Kurt Evans 2015-05-23 18:04

    Cory asks:
    >“So I just saved Bosworth’s life?”

The number of views on “Part 4” jumped from 12 to 18 awfully fast after you posted the link, Cory, so I’m thinking if they end up anywhere from 2,000,000 to 2,000,005 she’s going to be deeply in your debt. :-)

    Save Annette here (ha ha):

  68. Lynn 2015-05-23 18:07

“I can honestly say I have not witnessed all signatures when I circulated petitions. Does that mean I get to go to jail?” Tara Volesky 2/22/2015

The integrity of the electoral process is critical in our Democracy. This may be a good time to turn yourself in and further demonstrate your blind faith in Annette Bosworth. How many did you not witness? Which campaigns?

” I just signed off on a new car without reading the contract. I was told to sign by the pink x mark and I am good to go. I hope there are still people in SD you can still trust. My salesman said everything is correct in the contract and his word is good enough for me, just like Dr. Bosworth’s Lawyer, who told her just sign and everything is good to go.” Tara Volesky 1/5/2015

Tara you signed off on a contract which is the 2nd largest purchase most people will make in their lifetimes and you didn’t read the contract? Then you try to equate it with Bosworth trusting her attorney on the rules of petition gathering? This is one of the many reasons you should not hold any public office including the Mitchell School Board. Annette Bosworth clearly showed from this petition fiasco she is unfit for any public office either.

Chris Nelson former SOS in testimony went into great lengths how that office did everything they could to help simplify and explain the petition gathering process and how important it was. A pamphlet goes out and the instructions are on each petition. It’s actually very straight forward. There should be no excuses and not following those fairly simple instructions is simply being lazy blowing off the law and the oath they took.

Political positions whether a local school board or Senate requires reading studies, reports or proposed laws or rules to name a few of the important responsibilities that elected position requires and if they cannot comprehend and follow the rules of a petition or just blindly sign a contract they certainly should not hold any elected office looking out for taxpayers.

  69. tara volesky 2015-05-23 18:13

Thanks for posting that Lynn. It points out I am pretty honest, just like pointing out the facts about the FAC in todays MDR.

  70. mike from iowa 2015-05-23 18:14

Way to go,Cory. You saved her life. Good luck collecting on that.

  71. Deb Geelsdottir 2015-05-23 18:46

I fail to understand why there is any issue here. This is about one thing that is pretty simple and clear cut: Did she, or did she not witness the signatures?

I believe one of the aspects of narcissism is creating one’s own reality. Bosworth seems to be highly skilled at that. Tara is working on it.

Tara and now Lora are working awfully hard at throwing all kinds of feces at the oscillator, trying to get something to stick, regardless of how tangentially connected. Or not at all.

This is one of the strangest comment sections on DFP that I have read in some time. It fairly Sibsonesque: A steady chorus of sane voices pointing out obvious facts repeatedly. An argumentative voice that continues to return to its own, personal reality, and trying to universalize that reality. For a while this was entertaining, but the bloom is gone and it’s become tedious and boring.

Some posts were acknowledged “Sibby-bait”. Now we have “Tara-bait” and the results are similar. Sigh.

  72. Lynn 2015-05-23 18:58

May God help the citizens and those poor other school board members in Mitchell, SD if Tara Volesky and/or Steve Sibson somehow get elected Jun 2nd. More than likely they will be decidedly defeated once again but if for some itty bitty chance one or both get elected it will be non-stop rabbit hole after rabbit hole hijacking school board meetings.

  73. mike from iowa 2015-05-23 19:07

    Tara must like left-handed compliments/

  74. tara volesky 2015-05-23 19:49

Lynn, I don’t think you have to worry about me winning because Mitchell is a Republican town, run by Republicans and my constituents are non-registered voters or Registered Democrats and Independents, who don’t vote.

  75. tara volesky 2015-05-23 19:53

Cory, I respect your writing and speaking skills and I am sincere when I say this, but would you cretic my article in todays paper…….feel free to criticize because I can learn through other people who know more than I do when it comes to your field of expertise. Thanks.

  76. Roger Cornelius 2015-05-23 20:35

    How about this:

“The DFP and the DWC are in competition with each other, as to who can beat the SHIT out of Bosworth”
    Tara Volesky, 2015-5-22 @19:21.

Are Mitchell voters, particular parents, aware of the profanity used by school board candidate Tara Volesky?

  77. tara volesky 2015-05-23 21:13

Yes Roger, if you look at studies, people who use profanity tend to be more honest than people who done. RIP Patrick Duffy. I listened to his testimony on the death penalty. If kids could vote, I would win.

  78. tara volesky 2015-05-23 21:45

Come on Lynn, trash talk this article. There is a reason true Democrats are dropping off like flies…..How’s it working for you…….If you trash people who are anti-establishment over and over again and get the same results…..guess what……maybe you ought to try something different. It pains me to see this website turn so many people away from the Democrat party.

  79. pat Moe 2015-05-23 21:58

Tara…. I think what you want Cory to do is critique your writing.

  80. tara volesky 2015-05-23 22:04

Absolutely, I would love to have Cory critique this article, in fact I am open to anybody, and that includes Lynn and Roger…..bring it.

  81. Lynn 2015-05-23 22:26

It doesn’t matter what the article says regarding your being a candidate for school board or when it’s Steve Sibson’s time to be featured as a candidate. As a Mitchell voter I feel both your past history of actions disqualify either of you from ever being fit to hold a public office.

As mentioned before you admitted to not following the instructions and Oath of a petition numerous times or even reading over a contract when purchasing the 2nd highest financial purchase most people will ever make. If you don’t read and comprehend instructions, a basic contract and even what is posted as factual numerous times on this blog and in court how would you ever be able to function being on the school board?

Again I see school board meetings being hijacked going from rabbit hole to rabbit hole from complaining about “power brokers”, Neo Marxist New Age Agenda, Annette Bosworth this, Marty Jackley that, The Democratic and Republican Party establishment secret alliance to a guest speaker Lora Hubbel brought in to talk about banning vaccinations in schools to chemtrails. Then telling us that pot smoke was in the halls all the time at Mobridge High School so what’s the big deal? Your for full legalization so what’s wrong with Mitchell kids smoking pot? “Think for Yourself!” Remember?

The elections in Mitchell have more to do with the qualifications and positions of individual candidates and not any political party affiliation.

If any of you two somehow eek a win my empathy will be for those other board members and citizens of Mitchell. Residents of Mitchell June 2nd please DO NOT vote for Tara Volesky or Steve Sibson!

  82. tara volesky 2015-05-24 00:04

Thanks, Lynn, comments like that will help us get a few more votes. But I must once again remind you that Mitchell is a Republican town, run by Republicans. The only chance I would have winning would be if all the Democrats and Independents would get out and vote. Good luck on that one. Lynn, you are a bad role model for people that would like to stand up for what they believe in, but are to cowardly to say their name. Weak!!!!

  83. Roger Cornelius 2015-05-24 01:12

Has anyone else ever notice the pattern of Tara’s debate?
First she seriously deviates from the topic of the thread, she could not contend with the facts of the Bosworth trial and lost that debate.
Next she inserts herself and her political ambitions into the debate (i.e. school board race) and starts campaigning for herself.
Finally when she figures out that she cannot convince one person here about how great she is, she attacks people for not posting under their real names, which essentially losing that argument as well.
Lynn happens to be a well spoken dedicated Democrat and is not Weak!!!!

  84. Lynn 2015-05-24 03:48

Deb made an excellent reply to Tara’s behavior and to quote part of it. “I believe one of the aspects of narcissism is creating one’s own reality. Bosworth seems to be highly skilled at that. Tara is working on it. ”

“Some posts were acknowledged “Sibby-bait”. Now we have “Tara-bait” and the results are similar. Sigh.”

  85. tara volesky 2015-05-24 06:08

If Lynn is a well-spoken Democrat, then why is she voting Republican??? lol. And no Roger, I am not campaigning for myself. You don’t even know me. This article says what I am all about. I would rather stick up for the little guy and lose, than play the political polished game and win. At least instead of just complaining all the time I will run for social and economic justice. You can’t argue the article so you divert to talking narcissism, drama, tinfoil hat, right winger. Stick to the issues folks. Ya, narcissism or I’d rather use the term confidence, I’ll give you that one Roger. Cory, some times I wonder about you. I sent you some pretty good stuff that you refuse to publish……Also, why was there a media black-out with star witness Jeff Beck????????? Inquiring minds want to know.

  86. tara volesky 2015-05-24 06:14

What did you think of the article Roger and Lynn…………Oh she’s not a Democrat…… we hate it. If it would have been written by Cory….. oh he’s a Democrat,we love it. Get the picture? Big tent and nobody in it.

  87. larry kurtz 2015-05-24 07:07

    eke not eek.

  88. caheidelberger Post author | 2015-05-24 07:14

Deb, thank you for the point about narcissism. That is another fundamental aspect of the Bosworth case. For that last decade, Bosworth has acted as if regular rules don’t apply to her, as if she can do whatever she wants because she is better than everyone else. She can cheat Medicaid because she’s saving lives. She can dress inappropriately and parade through the Sanford lobby in her bra because she’s fighting Big Medicine. She can lie on a nominating petition because she’s fighting Big Government.

How about I start speeding, stealing, and lying because I write the best political blog in South Dakota, and I’m fighting for truth and justice?

  89. caheidelberger Post author | 2015-05-24 07:17

Roger, your critique is spot-on as well. Nothing in Tara’s attacks has refuted the observation of the original post: oaths matter because they protect the integrity of elections. Bosworth undermined public trust in the electoral process by swearing false oaths and failing to carry out basic due diligence.

  90. SDBlue 2015-05-24 07:24

Personally, I don’t read this blog because Cory is a Dem. I read this blog because, whether I agree with Cory or not, he always tells the truth. He is a shining example of true investigative journalism. I was a life-long Dem who changed my registration to Independent in 2010 when the SDDP allowed John Thune to run unopposed. It was my own private little protest. I renewed my license this month and changed my registration back to Dem. Why? Because Cory has inspired me to rejoin the Democratic party. If Tara was really interested in sticking with the issues, she would not have hijacked this blog and turned it into the Tara For School Board Traveling Medicine Show. I have little respect for her passive aggressive responses to anyone who does not agree with her.

  91. larry kurtz 2015-05-24 07:33

Why anyone is registered as anything other than Republican in South Dakota while Democratic primaries exist only in an alternate universe remains a mystery.

  92. Dana P 2015-05-24 09:12

I have the utmost confidence that if all of the facts of the Bosworth case were exactly the same, yet replace Bosworth’s name with a Democrat, that Cory’s reporting and blogging would have been identical. Period.

  93. Les 2015-05-24 09:16

Pride goes before the fall, Lar. A prideful Dem is a small difference from a winger Pub.
The SD parties are all about winning, not putting the best folks into office and we see the affects from their actions and inactions.

  94. Les 2015-05-24 09:21

To the issue at hand with Boz, she was finally someone else’s tool in her own game. Karma bites.

  95. larry kurtz 2015-05-24 09:29

Watching media dissolve around us is catching up with me, Les.

This all comes at a time when state government coverage is declining nationwide. A 2014 Pew Research Center study said only 47 percent of government reporters cover their respective statehouses full-time. State by state, Texas leads the way with more than 50 full-time Capitol reporters, and South Dakota brings up the rear with only two.

  96. Les 2015-05-24 09:50

Yes, Lar. It is going dark for all the right reasons. Heil.

  97. Bill Dithmer 2015-05-24 14:11

I see you are all still at it. This is either 99 or 100, and just for Annette.

What is it she does now? Look how she rubs her hands.

It is an accustom’d action with her, to seem thus
washing her hands. I have known her continue in this a quarter of
    an hour.

    Lady Macbeth:
    Yet here’s a spot.

Hark, she speaks. I will set down what comes from her, to
satisfy my remembrance the more strongly.

    Lady Macbeth:
Out, damn’d spot! out, I say!—One; two: why, then
’tis time to do’t.—Hell is murky.—Fie, my lord, fie, a soldier, and
afeard? What need we fear who knows it, when none can call our
pow’r to accompt?—Yet who would have thought the old man to
have had so much blood in him?

    Or something like that.

  98. tara volesky 2015-05-25 23:31

I have to give pp credit. He posted my article, even knowing I am not a Republican. Thanks Pat.

  99. caheidelberger Post author | 2015-05-26 06:51

We all make our editorial choices as to what comments contribute to intelligent discussion. Pat’s choices are regularly skewed by his politics, bad judgment, and agenda of character assassination. Consider his own flip-flop on Bosworth and Haber: when they were tools he could use to attack me personally and to drown out the Stace Nelson challenge to Mike Rounds, Powers was more than happy to support her. When she started to attack his Republican patrons, Pat did an about face. Like Bosworth, Pat uses words as tools for his own ends, not as vessels of meaning in a search for truth and understanding.

  100. Roger Cornelius 2015-05-26 17:44

Since I don’t read anonymous blogs or bloggers that ban my comments, I don’t what Powers at the Dump Site posted.

Did he and his minions give Tara a ringing republican endorsement?

  101. caheidelberger Post author | 2015-05-26 17:53

No such thing, Roger. Just the usual insults, right, Tara?

  102. tara volesky 2015-05-26 18:46

Not even close to the insults I get over here. You guys like to eat your own.

  103. Roger Cornelius 2015-05-26 19:24

An independent voter that continually slams the Democratic Party is not one of our own!

  104. tara volesky 2015-05-26 19:49

OMG…..I am just repeating what many good Democrats have told me. Telling the truth is better than being a fake and saying everything is just wonderful with the Democrat Party. You drew first blood Roger.

  105. mike from iowa 2015-05-26 19:55

Unfortunately for South Dakota,Bozs conviction won’t be the end of this miserable little fairy tale. She will claim victimhood and martyrdumb and rinse and repeat over and over again. She and Tara will be Dakota’s own walking dead redux, reprise, etc, too still yet,so on and so forth.

  106. tara volesky 2015-05-26 20:33

Ya Mike, this is far from over. By the way, Mike Push-up Myers and I are going out to Pierre tomorrow to cheer on the Boz.

  107. Roger Cornelius 2015-05-26 20:45

You repeat that quite often, specifically who are the nice Democrats that told you that, Tara?

South Dakota Democrats know they have a problem and have for sometime, so you can either be the problem and sit back and repeat yourself or you can do some work and defeat this corrupt republican government, which is it?

The biggest obstacle Democrats have to overcome is educating low-income, under educated republicans that eat whatever the SDGOP feeds them, whether it is in their own best interest or not.

Bosworth is a corrupt republican politician, why do you refuse to accept that, Tara?

  108. tara volesky 2015-05-26 20:51

I have been trying to change it, that’s why I was MM campaign manager who is a Bernie Sanders Independent. That’s why I am running for school board. See some of you Democrats need to support candidates like Mike Myers and Tara Volesky.

  109. Roger Cornelius 2015-05-26 21:00

No we don’t Tara, please don’t try to do us any favors.

You fit in with the Lora Hubbel mold of tea party extremist, continually mixing reality with fantasy.

If you truly gave a damn about truth and honesty like you say, you would get aboard with us little guys and under dogs called the Democratic Party.

  110. tara volesky 2015-05-26 21:57

You mean you would go against George McGovern wishes Roger. GM is a little better judge of character than you Roger.

  111. Roger Cornelius 2015-05-26 22:36

Don’t blame George McGovern for your incompetence.

As a rule, one must have character in order for it to be judged.

  112. tara volesky 2015-05-26 23:24

Roger’s jealous. lol. I can see why PP banned you from SDWC.
