Hardee’s CEO Puzder Imperils Labor Department Mission

President Taft signed the Department of Labor into existence on March 4, 1913, Its first Secretary was the founder of the United Mine Workers.

The mission of the United States Department of Labor is “to foster, promote, and develop the welfare of the wage earners, job seekers, and retirees of the United States; improve working conditions; advance opportunities for profitable employment; and assure work-related benefits and rights.”

The Department of Labor’s next Secretary, Trumpesque misogynist and employee-cheating fast-food mogul Andrew Puzder, would love to replace his human employees with machines:

“They’re always polite, they always upsell, they never take a vacation, they never show up late, there’s never a slip-and-fall, or an age, sex, or race discrimination case,” says Puzder of swapping employees for machines [Kate Taylor, “Fast-Food CEO Says He’s Investing in Machines Because the Government Is Making It DIfficult to Afford Employees,” Business Insider, 2016.03.16].

You know, I think they can CGI those models now. Saves on paychecks and burgers.

I suspect Puzder is unlikely to replace the swimsuit models in his ads with robots; bolts and burgers won’t sell nearly as well as boobs and burgers. But even if those buxom young ladies are getting a decent paycheck for fellating Puzder’s meat, Trump’s Labor nominee is still building his brand by objectifying women. Puzder doesn’t view women or workers as humans but as machines, to be replaced by newer, cheaper, more compliant models as soon as possible.

The next Democratic candidate for President needs to convene a Shadow Cabinet, led by former Labor Secretary Robert Reich, to remind us how government in a democratic America is supposed to work, serving the people and not the corporatocracy.

    Do robots give good head? I hope Pudpuller learns to his detriment they don’t.

    Yikes, The CIA is now reporting proof positive that Russian got Trump elected. We have 11 days until the Electoral College votes. What will law and order Republicans do? Will our three votes go for the hammer and cycle on the state flag?

    Sickle. I think it’s a sickle on the state flag, although given the Sturgis influence dragging out-of-staters in one might argue we should have a cycle on there instead.

    Washington Post, now “The CIA has concluded in a secret assessment that Russia intervened in the 2016 election to help Donald Trump win the presidency, rather than just to undermine confidence in the U.S. electoral system, according to officials briefed on the matter.

    Intelligence agencies have identified individuals with connections to the Russian government who provided WikiLeaks with thousands of hacked emails from the Democratic National Committee and others, including Hillary Clinton’s campaign chairman, according to U.S. officials. Those officials described the individuals as actors known to the intelligence community and part of a wider Russian operation to boost Trump and hurt Clinton’s chances.”

    Sickle is correct Mr. Grudznick. Hammer and Sickle with a decal of South Dakota in red with this as being yellow superimposed on it. Should be a big seller.

    Trump said numerous times that he wanted to create jobs for the middle class, hiring robots doesn’t isn’t providing jobs.

    Somebody has to make the robots and probably fix them and also deliver them pizza crusts to flip and flatten.

    I’m loving it. The minority voters are getting what they voted for:
    – no raise to the minimum wage; (stay poor longer!)
    – no unions (kiss off joining the middle class);
    – roll-back their healthcare;
    – roll-back Medicare;
    – dirtier air and water;
    – privatizing our schools;
    – less public land to use for recreation;
    – more government retribution for folks who disagree with Big Brother;
    – rolling back the First Amendment’s right to free speech (Big Brother and Hannity will tell you what to think);
    With the list of cabinet nominees, their agendas, and Trump’s own agendas — it’s harder each day to give the incoming administration the benefit of the doubt.

    Unions are bad. They are bad.
    But we all want more public land, take it away from the robber barons I say!
    And everybody knows that there are people who need to get smited by the government but only those people should be smited.

    And now:
    – massively cut social security (introduced yesterday by the chair of the house SS subcommittee).

    And you thought these regressives were going ‘watch out for you?! How?! and what in their past actions gave you that idea – aside from wishful thinking and rose-colored glasses?!

    Unions and the GI Bill made the US middle class. Did unions have excesses; did management have excesses — sure, but we don’t throw out the baby for the bath water. Germany has the strongest economy in Europe, and even when putting a plant in the US or other nations German management INSIST that a union represent the workers. Unions, like plants, require good management, not rogues. Unions are a profit and market-share multiplier when done correctly.

    Der Gropenfuhrer’s cabinet is shaping up quite nicely, don’t you think? Sec of Labor that hates unions and working folk. Sec of Ed that hates public education. Sec of Interior that wants to privatize federal lands, drill and mine them. Head of the EPA that doesn’t believe in science. Numerous Goldman Sachs people that he campaigned against. An NSA advisor that retweets fake news. And he is considering the CEO of Exxon (a Russian national honoree) who would benefit BIGLY should the Russian sanctions for invading the Ukraine be eliminated! I’m happy! How about ya’ll?
