Pray for the National Day of Prayer?

In today’s self-abuse file, I peruse the Family Heritage Alliance website and find this odd note from John Dennis:

People will gather on April 22 to pray for the National Day of Prayer, which takes place two weeks later, on Cinco de Mayo.

Prayer for a day of prayer—is that like having cheerleaders for the cheerleaders? Putting ketchup on tomatoes? Or is it just pearls to the swine?

Related: Shirley Dobson, National Day of Prayer chair, notes that “Sleep is essential, but prayer is even more important. Ask God to help you find the right balance in your life.” Hmmm… tell me again: why are South Dakotans getting all that sleep?

Blue on black, tears on a river, push on a shove, it don’t mean much.
Joker on Jack, match on a fire, cold on ice, a dead man’s touch,
    Whisper on a scream doesn’t change a thing…

Do South Dakotans sleep more or less when listening to sermons?

Sounds like somebody *really* needs something to do. . .

Addendum: Presumably, there must be refreshments. . .

I am skeptical that Mr. Graham “will not endorse any candidates”, as claimed. Endorsements can be made without naming candidates specifically. It is still an endorsement made on the property of a business claiming to be tax exempt.

Perhaps Gordon Howie can get Rev. Graham to sit down for an interview!

Does Dakota have any isolated Native villages that can be reached only by air in the winter, desperately in need of heating fuel so Graham and the Tundra Tart Palin can fly in with drinking water and a quick photo op? Worked in Alaska.it did.

I pause to note the 13th anniversary of the U.S. invasion of Iraq.

Before the U.S. invaded Iraq, Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld said, “I can’t tell you if the use of force in Iraq today will last five days, five weeks or five months, but it won’t last any longer than that.”

The invasion was March 19, 2003.

Today another US Marine died in Iraq

Pray for America if another wingnut ever gets elected Potus in A,erica’s lifetime.

Kudos to Slipstream for the above content.

“Balance” is an interesting word. Webster defines balance as a noun: “”””a condition in which different elements are equal or in the correct proportions. Verb: offset or compare the value of (one thing) with another. : Keep or put (something) in steady position so that it does not fall.””” It seems that South Dakota has fallen far away from the “balance”, that we all need some of.
