Coal miners are just one part of the Trump base that Trump is betraying. Former Aberdeen mayor Mike Levsen lists more of the suckers who’ve sown their own destruction by electing a felon to the White House:
Hispanics. Rose from 28% supporting Trump in 2016 to 45% in 2024, including 54% of Hispanic men. How do they look back on those votes now that our Kristi Noem has terrorized both migrant and native-born Hispanics?
White evangelical Protestants. Around 80% Trump voters in all three elections. Are they evaluating his Christian values as he sprinkles the “F” world in his comments, as he cuts off U.S. aid to dying children, as he lies as easily as he breathes, as he attacks enemies with juvenile and cruel insults, never, ever attends church, and repeatedly embodies most of the traditional seven deadly sins (pride, envy ,wrath, gluttony, lust, sloth, and greed). Is their “Christian forgiveness” being tested?
Is “white” the big factor?
Farmers. Nearly 80% of farm counties went for Trump is all three elections. Do they feel like chumps now that Trump has destroyed overseas markets, driven up the cost of fertilizer and other farm costs, and hit them with gas and diesel shocks. Higher costs, lower commodity prices — is this OK with you farmers because he’s your favorite candidate?
Veterans. Around 60% went for Trump every time. Did they find the loss of 40,000 Veterans Affairs employees and subsequent service cuts an acceptable consequence of their support? Feeling foolish?
Active military personnel. Favored Trump narrowly over his opponents. Apparently not bothered by Trump’s dismissive attitude exemplified by demeaning the service of John McCain, refusing to attend a graveyard ceremony at Normandy and reportedly calling soldiers “losers” and “suckers” and appointing an unqualified Fox News commentator as their leader.
Cubans. About two-thirds Trump voters — big part of Florida redness. Perhaps thought they were exempt from ICE atrocities but have discovered they can be victims, too.
Other voting groups have been similarly betrayed and have cause to feel like fools. The Wall Street Journal reports that even some right-to-life organizations are regretting their support. Lifelong Republicans who believe in free trade, balanced budgets, America-first foreign policy, and constitutional adherence have acquiesced to abandoning those beliefs as a tradeoff to winning elections [Mike Levsen, “After Trump’s Policy Betrayals, Are His Voters Feeling Like Suckers Yet?” South Dakota Standard, 2026.05.09].
If Trump voters followed Trump’s sole motivating principle, self-interest, they’d never vote for Trump or anyone else in his circle. Save your skins, Trump voters, and elect Democrats to retake Congress and end the beatings you’re taking!
Yet polling still shows support – 100% support in some polling — for the President. Be sure to ask the follow-up question whenever MAGA is venting frustration: would you still vote for him?
Democrats lose elections because they hold their candidates accountable.
But, but,but its Trump! Sent by God to humiliate Republicans!
So, what are Democrats and people of good will to do?
The United States we know today was not built in a year. And the destruction Republicans have done from Reagan to today’s MAGA cult has been 45 years in the making. For our current and future generations to thrive, we must first rebuild the foundation that the Republicans and their billionaire friends have torn down.
– Bring back a healthy middle class. FDR did it in the 1930s and 1940s, and Truman, Eisenhower, Kennedy, LBJ, Nixon, Ford, and Carter all expanded his New Deal. When Ronald Reagan came into office in 1981 and declared war on the New Deal and unions while cutting income taxes on billionaires from 74% to virtually nothing, a massive $80 trillion transfer of wealth began. It wiped out worker protections, froze wages, ended most pensions, and — over the past 45 years — have taken the middle class from two-thirds of us down to around 43 percent of us.
– Roll back the Reagan, Bush, and Trump tax cuts for corporations and the morbidly rich, restoring tax rates as they were in 1980 when our national debt was less that one trillion dollars and we were on a steady path to paying that off.
– Joining every other developed country in the world in offering a free or low-cost national healthcare system and offering free or low-cost college to anybody who can qualify, while ending all student debt.
– Enforce anti-trust laws, repeal the “right to work for less” Taft-Hartley Act, and outlaw the billion-dollar union busting industry while enforcing workers’ right to representation and democracy in the workplace.
– Pass legislation outlawing gerrymandering and other ways Republicans politically disenfranchise non-whites. Strengthen anti-racism laws and have the FBI go after racist groups rather than persecuting the Southern Poverty Law Center.
– Launch a national education program about America’s racial history to build understanding and empathy among white people and empower the newly emerging diversity of our state.
– As a society we must work to redefine masculinity. Being a man isn’t about being the sole breadwinner; it’s about being reliable, emotionally literate, and capable, being someone who shows up for family, work, and community. — Bring back DEI and put it back into law.
For half a century, Republicans have bled the working-class dry, taken their wealth and given it to the Bezos’ and Zuckerberg’s, and fought to keep the middle class from re-emerging in a way that might slightly dent corporate and billionaire profits. The acceptance of political violence, the rising racism, and the open misogyny we’re seeing across America aren’t a mystery but are the predictable result of 45 years of GOP policy that gutted the middle class and then sold men the lie that women, Blacks, and immigrants were the ones to blame.
It’s time the Democratic Party started telling Americans the truth and setting out a clear vision to remedy these decades of Republican vandalism that have brought us to this perilous, violent moment in our nation’s history. Talk to your friends and neighbors to help them see clearly who’s been robbing them by turning off mainstream media and seeking the truth through independent media and invite them to join in the fight to help solve this growing crisis of our political divide.
Democracy Dies When Good People Stay Silent – Vote!
If only there would have been some sign, some indication like a prior record or warnings from previous coworkers. If only! @#$%^&*!
WJL, I could not agree more completely, and who is the candidate I can put my vote toward to legislate us back to this path?
WJL-wow, so well said :))
Trump issued federal pardons to all 18 people charged in Arizona’s so-called “fake electors” case, stemming from an alleged attempt by Republicans to illegally overturn Joe Biden’s 2020 victory in the state, including Tyler Bowyer. So, Russian missionary-trained Bowyer,Turning Point USA Action is “preparing” to primary Senate Majority Leader and South Dakota Sen. John Thune after notching a major win in Indiana.
If other states don’t redistrict [Gerrymander] or if Republicans like Thune don’t pass the SAVE America Act, they are “prepared” to turn their attention to those states and politicians.
Bowyer: “Private‑sector background: asserted but thinly sourced”—of course, Trump’s pick! And
“links … including Bowyer to significant payments or questionable auditing relationships [6]”

Hahaha, Noem’s gone poofy; John, America still “safer”??
$1 billion for security upgrades to Donald Trump’s White House ballroom project, [Thune] saying the total is “what it costs to protect the President of the United States in a very dangerous time and a dangerous world.”
Right!??
Rounds: “Jan. 22, 2026, 1:23 p.m. CT
PIERRE — Republican U.S. Sen. Mike Rounds has officially launched his reelection bid.” VERY QUIET from the junior senator since then!
American farmers did their part to get yooge tax breaks for billionaIres. Unfortunately, all the bs the felon/rapist an d magats spew won’t fertilize this year’s crops or lower fertilizer costs.

According to the ZFed, Blacvks are doing the worst under the felon/rapist regime.
Straight off my bingo card, here’s the latest in South Dakota politics!
Creighton University’s Ernie Goss has been warning that the Trump Organization is bad for American agriculture and follows the economies of several breadbasket states including South Dakota’s—one of the slowest growing in the US.
April’s employment index slipped in Trumpland, supply managers expect input prices to spike by more than five percent in the next six months and South Dakota’s manufacturing sector lost 400 jobs in the last year, losing nearly one percent of its manufacturing base. 50.0 is growth neutral.
