Amelia Joy Takes Plunge for Male Headshippers

Governor Kristi Noem’s press secretary Amelia Joy continues to languish in silence. But at least the baton-twirling Florida native with a so-far underutilized master’s degree from American University gives us the occasional wet-t-shirt pic:

It’s unclear whether Joy’s August submersion was a full conversion, whether she was born again or born again again—I suspect the latter, because how could a young woman who hadn’t already accepted Jesus as her Lord and personal savior accept Kristi Noem as her overlord and professional savior?

Joy’s new church home, Community Bible Church of Pierre, looks like a good fit for a Noem Teamer. The non-denominational dunkers believe gayness and transgenderism are tactics the Devil uses to devour our children:

Well, dunking the kids in the Missouri River will certainly make them less tasty to Satan.

But a woman working for the most powerful woman in South Dakota may find it just a little awkward worshipping at a church that won’t let women lead:

According to the Community Bible Church’s reading of the Bible, only straight monogamous married men may occupy leadership roles in the church, and the pictures of all those prudent, non-addicted, non-pugnacious white men shows they practice what they preach.

But if men must lead and dip the ladies in the dance of the church, how can they stand to see women leading in government? They may tolerate Amelia Joy’s professional exertions, since she keeps quiet in Pierre and does what she’s told. But Joy works for a female chief executive, one who leads an entire state. Little fundagelical churches like Community Bible Church pride themselves on not leaving their beliefs at the churchhouse door after services on Sunday but on embodying and enacting their values throughout their daily lives. And what value would these shepherds of women hold more deeply than their narcissistic male headship?

Maybe Joy’s shepherds at Community Bible Church can tolerate her working for a female chief executive as long as they believe that female chief executive is really taking orders from everybody’s favorite fake Christian and savior, Donald Trump. And then when Trump makes Noem his running mate, she’ll be back in her proper subordinate role.

In the meantime, expect Joy to embody the values of her new church home with her continued humble silence in the halls of government.

Men might lead the service but the best part is usually lead by women: lunch.

Yeah, when your “leadership” is all swinging dicks, you’ve got a problem. It’s just not natural to have all male leadership. Jesus would not approve. What’s funny is that most churches that have gay clergy and fellowships include women in leadership positions. I mean, really, you do have to wonder about these folks. Living in the Bronze Age is not something most folks care to do.

I question the idea that men “manage” their household. How utterly hopelessly lost these folks are.

Elder Joel Jundt is the Secretary for the SD Dept of Transportation. I remember him giving an office overview speech and prefacing it with how much he hated women wearing high heels that “clacked as they walked down the hallways”. Didn’t care for him then and now I know why.

Can’t help but wonder if any of those dudes are divorced or ever “knew” another woman in the biblical sense

I’m reluctant to criticize the religious beliefs of others. It requires no explanation and is protected by the Constitution. The tenets of the Community Bible Church do make me wonder what led these people to trust in the infallibility of men.

Cory, I can’t understand why you posted this. Should she not be getting baptized, or should she not attend that particular church, or should she not work for the governor, or should she not be posting on FB? What is your problem with her?
If she was a Muslim, would you want her to face west to pray, and only once per day? Would you say she attended the wrong mosque? If she was an orthodox Jew, would you criticize her for not eating bacon?
This appears to be yet another sampling of the intolerant Left.

Her faith, her business, so long as she doesn’t force it on others. Noting a “wet t-shirt” in this manner shows, once again, this blog’s weird stance towards women, particularly those it doesn’t agree with.

  8. Hypocritheocrisy is a Republican thing.

  9. Charlatans + wet t-shirts = christianic religionism

  10. P. Aitch

Mr. Mowry: If an individual chooses to engage in extremism, is proud of that choice, and isn’t suppressing their choice then public exposure of that extremism is quite proper. Don’t you agree?

  11. grudznick

Mr. Mowry, some people just have an incurable case of NDS and it has to come out somehow, so attacking women for getting baptized and even criticizing the (admittedly probably overgodding) church somebody attends in their personal lives is the only release they have.

Wet T-shirts should be encouraged in all cases.

  12. The intolerant Left has had it with the gaslighting bullies on the far white wing of the Republican Party.

  13. Mark Mowry

    P. Aitch — What?
As I see it, if a person takes baptism, is happy about it and wants to announce it, then that’s his/her business, and presently it’s also his/her right to do so.
For that matter, it’s also Mr. Heidelberger’s right to publish his post on this platform; just seems to me that it’s in poor taste.

Aren’t you a Trump supporter? I agree that it’s in poor taste, but you are launching boulders through the halls of your glass house, bud.

Would you like the grab em by the pussy joke? Eat a bag of turds, Mark. You aren’t here in good faith.

Dicta, We catapulted from the inexplicable criticism of a woman getting baptized to the angry criticism of a Trump supporter pretty quickly, wouldn’t you say?
Imagine not being liked for liking somebody – for shame!

  17. Dicta

I don’t like you because you are a hypocrite who launches himself into the defense of women when it is convenient to do so. You know this, but want to present a strawman to make this argument easier for yourself. Stop being dumb.

Religion — whatever denomination — is the last bastion of the exclusive private club that allows “us” to exclude “them” for some bullish!#, thinly masked racist/sexist reason. There is a direct relationship between their fanaticism and their impending death knoll (which cannot come soon enough). Rich, white men tout their superiority under a savior that was neither of those things.

  19. grudznick

Perhaps coincidentally, Mr. PP has a blogging up that is about how the Batman of the 1950’s was viewed as a catalyst to homosexuality and feminist whippery or something like that. In the blogging there is a blue link to a neato page in a book discussing how these heinous comic magazines were destroying children and doing misogynistic damages to the psyches of men.

  20. grudznick

Oh my goodness, in this book there is references to things that remind me of bloggings past.

The Lesbian counterpart of Batman may be found in the stories of Wonder Woman and Black Cat. The homosexual connotation of the Wonder Woman type of story is psychologically unmistakable. The Psychiatric Quarterly deplored in an editorial the “appearance of an eminent child therapist as the implied endorser of a series . . . which portrays extremely sadistic hatred of all males in a framework which is plainly Lesbian

Do not take this as a sign grudznick believes in the Batman or book burning. Wonder Woman might be a different thing, though.

Constantine gives Jesus a Record Deal, he breaks big, sells out stadiums. Romans Keeps the distribution rights until Luther puts the whole catalogue on Napster. 40,000. ‘unauthorized biographies’ later, who knows what it all meant, but sure seemed useful.in wielding power. Irony, Jesus and his first tour manager Paul knew it would all go down that way.

  22. JKL: I wouldn’t trust any guy who says he doesn’t like hearing those high heels clacking down the hall. I’d think Jundt would appreciate the warning that hard-working women are coming so he can sit up and look busy.

  23. Aaron, I am curious whether losing a spouse in any way, even a justified divorce or death, means CBC automatically boots an elder or deacon.

  24. Mark Mowry, you’re trolling for trouble to distract from the main point of the article, which you clearly missed. A Noem Administration official attends a church that advocates male headship and opposes women serving in leadership positions. I am trying to figure out how one squares the idea that women can’t serve as effective church church leaders with support for women serving as leaders in the public sphere. How can faithful members of this church make that distinction?

I do not tolerate misogyny or any suggestion that women are not qualified to manage organizations. Do you, Mark M?

  25. The church announced the baptism, publicizing Joy’s membership. That evidence leads to the question about Joy’s acceptance of the idea that women aren’t qualified to lead. Establishing that evidence and asking that question are in perfectly good taste.

  26. Mark B

Cory.. as for Noem, the church likely views her more as a Prophet than Leader, at least that would be the reconciliation point.

  27. e platypus onion

Mark B, in Noem’s case believe you mispelled profit.

  28. Bob Newland

Mark Mowry, do you think you would have something negative to say about an intolerant leftie hiring and paying another intolerant leftie with taxpayer funds to twirl a baton and get publicized for being baptized? That appears to be all Kristi trusts this rather strange young woman to do.

  29. Dicta

It’s not a surprising stance for a man who wears a fedora unironically to take.

I was driving home early Sunday morning through Bakersfield
Listening to gospel music on the colored radio station
And the preacher said, you know you always have the Lord by your side
And I was so pleased to be informed of this that I ran
Twenty red lights in his honor
Thank you Jesus, thank you Lord

I had an arrangement to meet a girl, and I was kind of late
And I thought by the time I got there she’d be off
She’d be off with the nearest truck driver she could find
Much to my surprise, there she was sittin’ in the corner
A little bleary, worse for wear and tear
Was a girl with far away eyes

So if you’re down on your luck
    And you can’t harmonize
Find a girl with far away eyes
    And if you’re downright disgusted
And life ain’t worth a dime
Get a girl with far away eyes

Well the preacher kept right on saying that all I had to do was send
Ten dollars to the church of the Sacred Bleeding Heart Of Jesus
Located somewhere in Los Angeles, California
And next week they’d say my prayer on the radio
And all my dreams would come true
So I did, the next week, I got a prayer with a girl
Well, you know what kind of eyes she got, well I’ll tell ya

So if you’re down on your luck
    I know you all sympathize
Find a girl with far away eyes
    And if you’re downright disgusted
And life ain’t worth a dime
Get a girl with far away eyes

So if you’re down on your luck
    I know you all sympathize
Get a girl with far away eyes — Keith Richards, Mick Jagger

  31. Mick and the boys have a new album. Yep, they just keep going with good stuff. Reminds me of Joe Biden and what you can accomplish at 80 years old.

  32. Bob Newland

Mark Mowry, I think I am totally justified in not liking someone who has had the opportunity to observe the perfidy and venality of Donald Trump and who still likes Trump. Imagine that.
