Back in Florida: Noem Says GOP Needs to Inspire Youth, Fight Classroom Propaganda

It took Kristi Noem just one week after winning reëlection to find an excuse to hop on a plane to Florida again:

Allan Smith, tweet, 2022.11.15.
Allan Smith, tweet from Orlando, Florida, 2022.11.15.

According to NBC reporter Allan Smith, Noem joined a panel of fellow GOP governors at a Republican Governors Association meeting in Orlando to tell her party that “We’re not inspiring” young voters” right now…. We have to figure out a way to message to younger individuals… because they’re just buying the propaganda that’s in their classrooms….”

…says the woman who is trying to introduce Hillsdale College’s propaganda into kids’ classrooms… and who is inspiring youth back home by supporting another hog slaughterhouse in the state’s largest city and bullying transgender youth out of the state.

Teachers reading Noem’s comment to the Orlando crowd will recognize that they are still Noem’s public enemy #1.

“We have to figure out a way to message to younger individuals…”, says Noem.

Here’s the problem. Younger people can figure out when you’re BS-ing them. The thing they DON’T want is to be messaged by lying politicians. They want straight talk, not propaganda. They want politicians to listen to them, not the other way around. They aren’t much different than older voters, though their issues may be a little different.

Let me say, you can’t be against debt reduction on college loans for poor and middle class folks, when you hand out all sorts of benefits to the wealthy, If your conservative principles won’t allow you to take away the gravy train for your wealthy donors, don’t expect to get much of a hearing from the younger set. It’s not about messaging. It’s about actually addressing needs and problems. It’s about empathy and competence, two things that too many Republicans lack.

Sunning had the best line at the event. Just hours before the Trump announcement he said “nobody’s gonna care”.

She’ll talk SD citizens into the Hillsdale curriculum. I already said why.

  6. Jake 2022-11-16 13:13

    All Mammal;
Knew her list of GOP wrongdoings was long, but seen compiled like this you did-is priceless! Only way she could shake off votes is if she fell on her arse racing around the arena at the Rodeo Rapid City.!

I would encourage all to click on Cory’s link to the Hillsdale College’s propaganda in the article above. I also signed up for their citizenship class and am now on their mailing lists; it has become even more clear how much political indoctrination is laced into the fabric of what this group is sending out. It is not subtle.

This is not just because it is the “other guys” doing it; it is wrong to overtly sell out our public classrooms and students for the political means of ANY party. Everything Hillsdale College pushes is to further a political agenda. That is what the Governor purchased for our classrooms. This has NOTHING to do with social studies and civics education — if it did, we would have been finished with this process after the SD educators had spoken to it (and the public had reviewed it) during the first round of these revisions.

Does Kristi fail to realize that the GOP has inspired the youth of South Dakota for years? Thorough Republican inspiration has taught the youth to graduate high school, college and leave South Dakota.

  9. O 2022-11-16 16:08

Francis, therefore, we should teach in Social Studies that those who live in other places are of polluted minds — not “true citizens” like we shall be with our anointed curriculum. That should keep them down on the farms and away from the bright lights and big cities. (snark)

What is the propaganda she’s talking about?

  11. scott 2022-11-16 17:42

What do the republican politicians expect from the voters.
-Trump was a known conman before he ran for president, yet the republican politicians support him for President because he had an “R” behind his name.
-Trump lied from day 1 on the job and throughout his presidency, yet the republican politicians support him for reelection because he had an “R” behind his name.
-Trump tried to over through our government, yet the republican politicians would not say anything bad about Trump. Some republican politicians tried to say Jan 6 was just another typical day at the US capital, because Trump has an “R” behind his name.
-Trump stole top secrets, yet the republican politicians generally would not speak out and republican politicians say if Trump ran for president again they would support him. All because he has an “R” behind his name.

Republicans are in trouble because their party let Trump over-through their republican party. With all that has happened, last night I still heard republican politicians say they will vote for Trump if he is their party nominee. Republicans just keep showing the only thing that matters is the “R” behind Trumps name, and they could care less that Trump has no morals or ethics.

  12. Jake 2022-11-17 09:30

    I’ll double-down on that, Scott!

  13. Arlo Blundt 2022-11-17 19:36

Governor Noem goes to Florida as her tan needs a buff. Concludes she needs to encourage the Party to “Message Youth”. Flys back to South Dakota to prepare for next out of state trip.
