Delegate Unruh Reminds Us SD Republicans Survive on Distraction

You can bet that affordable child care is not on the radar of the radical right-wingers assembling in Watertown this week for the South Dakota Republican Party’s convention. Delegate Allen Unruh ticks off the issues he thinks are motivating his base, and only one is a real bread-and-butter issue:

Allen Unruh, a longtime party delegate, predicts a large turnout because there is widespread angst among GOP activists about a host of maladies: High fuel prices, education curriculum, crime and illegal immigration among them [Jonathan Ellis and Joe Sneve, “Attorney General, Election Integrity Driving Interest in South Dakota Republican Convention,” Sioux Falls Argus Leader, 2022.06.20].

Putin’s high fuel prices are definitely a real, practical problem affecting the livelihood of nearly every South Dakotan. Of course, Unruh’s party still thinks we can lower gasoline prices now with a dead Canadian pipeline. But the other three issues Unruh mentions are scarecrows to distract from the fundamental failure of his party to produce good economic results in South Dakota. Teachers are producing the best education curriculum they can, only to be driven away from the profession by ignorant Republican shouters duped into believing misinterpretations and lies about critical race theory. If crime is up in South Dakota (“We live an age when people are getting shot for target practice,” claims Unruh), it’s a result of poor policing, poor public policy, and just maybe really rotten wages, all results of Republican governance in South Dakota. And the only angst South Dakota Republicans may have over illegal immigration is their fear that if they ever actually build their wall, they’ll be cutting off their donors from those highly subsidized dairies and feedlots from half of their cheap workforce.

Unruh also flogs the Big Lie about elections, claiming against all evidence that mail-in voting leads to stolen elections:

Unruh said what took place in other states ahead of the 2020 election, like legalizing ballot harvesting and extending absentee voting times, shined a light on the importance of who people choose as their secretaries of state.

“I just want fair and free elections, and mail-in voting is an invitation to steal elections,” he said [Ellis and Sneve, 2022.06.20].

No, Allen, your lies and your party’s lies about non-existent election fraud are the real invitation to steal elections. It’s exactly those lies that invited thousands of your people to try to steal the election by storming the United States Capitol on January 6, 2021.

But Unruh and his party can’t have us thinking about that ugly fact, or the unaffordability of child care in South Dakota, or the chronic economic failure a generation of one-party rule has wrought on South Dakota. Unruh and his fellow Republican delegates will thus spend their weekend in Watertown foaming at the mouth over falsehoods rather than discussing real problems and real policy solutions.

Grifters gonna grift. Think of it as the Bill Cosby Effect: the more sanctimonious the speech the more cash gets raised to hide career criminal behavior. It does make one wonder if all the chiropractors in South Dakota are intellectually incompetent or just thugs.

Gotta love us some Unruh, right? What a grammatical douchebag. “We live AN AGE when people are getting shot for target practice,”
Go crawl into a hole and fellate yourself, Allen.
It probably wasn’t a Democrat that ambushed me in the Lynn’s DakotaMart parking lot last year and asked me if someone had pranked my truck with Biden/Harris 2020 bumper stickers. I told him I was a proud Democrat and applied the stickers myself to upset d——s just like him. He then threatened me and Democrats with extinction because Reptilians have “guns and chainsaws.”
I just laughed and threw open the passenger side truck door and introduced him to my Milwaukee chainsaw and invited him check out my (imaginary) firearm in the glovebox and yelled at him to git because I don’t listen to s—.
He scampered off like a scalded gerbil.
It probably wasn’t a Democrat I enraged with the same bumper stickers who ambushed me from behind and garroted me with my hoodie cords before I was able to grab my 38″ wrecking bar and beat her like a pinata. She was memorable for her whopping case of steatopygia and rotten teeth.
Neither case involved “target practice,” but both incidents starred submoronic Reptilians.
You and your acolytes are a pack of turd fondlers, Unruh.

Dummies are mean and rude. Rudeness is the weak dummy’s imitation of strength. Republicans curl their lip and get hairy as a cur as a result of hearing words they lack in their vocabulary. They automatically assume it is something new and new is libby and queer. bless their ever loving, dummy hearts.

Out here, only played out, misinterpreted scripture comforts the fools too afraid to have or allow ideas.

Evolution doesn’t favor rigidity, so we have hope somewhere down the line. Hang in there.

Indeed, Ms. Mammal. I have always thought, like you, that name-calling and rudeness is a poor reflection on onesownself. When it is from out-of-state, even more so. Thank you for your courtesy and insight.

President Biden warned CEOs of the nation’s largest oil companies on Wednesday that he’s considering invoking emergency powers to boost U.S. refinery output.
    – “At a time of war,” the president wrote, record profits “are not acceptable” and demanded companies increase the supply of gasoline and other refined fuels immediately.
    – President Biden is also demanding that each oil company explain any drop in refining capacity and any refusal to increase refining even though oil supply is abundant.
    – It’s gasoline and groceries that are causing our inflation and both sectors are seeing record profits through greedy gouging of their product’s prices.

Unruh manipulates bodies, thus he finds it easy to manipulate the ignorance of the people in his party!

Oh Cory. You know darn well that high gas prices are not just Putin. Intellectually dishonest as always.
