New District 15 Incumbents Host Petition-Signing Saturday in Sioux Falls

Hey, new District 15 Democrats! Get out Saturday and sign some petitions for good legislators!

Senator Reynold Nesiba invites you to his house Saturday, January 8, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., to sign nominating petitions for himself and his Democratic House colleagues Jamie Smith and Linda Duba. All three Democratic incumbents survived redistricting and kept a majority-Democratic district.

But remember: this is new “Sparrow map” District 15. Some of Nesiba, Smith, and Duba’s old constituents, those east of Cliff between 6th and Rice, have been sliced out into new District 14, but folks farther north on Cliff, as well as folks north to 60th Street and west to I-29 who used to be weird gerrymandering District 9, are now in the neater block of District 15:

Lucky District Niners: you get to trade in bad old gay/trans-hating Rhonda Milstead and Bethany Soye and fellow stinky Republican Wayne Steinhauer for good and just Reynold, Jamie, and Linda! So, newcomers from old District 9, come meet your new and far superior District 15 candidates on Saturday, and help them become your new legislators in November!

Well, GOP legislators are now experts on stolen elections and Critical Race Theory. They also want everyone back in their places and to be firmly in charge. What more do you need?

That would be a swell party to attend. Probably those orange-juice/champagne beverages with the fancy-style gravy-taters during the morning shift, and then switching to serving the tasty meatballs in a barbeque sauce and ice-cream drinks in the afternoon shift. Mr. Smith, no doubt, will drink ordinary American beers from a can during both shifts, as he’s a salt-of-the-earth type. If Mr. H goes I hope he takes some photographs.
