FEMA and the Indian Health Service are taking coronavirus vaccines on the road. They have two mobile units traveling North and South Dakota to deliver vaccines on a walk-up basis: show up, roll up your sleeve, you get a shot. One unit worked Royal River Casino Sunday and Monday and will return on May 17 and 18 to deliver second doses. The South Dakota unit did Rosebud and Wagner last week; it heads to West River next:
- Oacoma: Old West Museum Trading Post, May 1
- Lower Brule: Indian Health Center, May 2
- Rapid City: Old Central Tennis courts, Mt. Rushmore Road, near Rapid Creek: May 4–5
- Oglala: Prairie Winds Casino, May 7–8
At the Flandreau site yesterday, Geno Blackwolf and Ailana Weddell got their Pfizer shots and told the rest of us to do the same:
“Just so I don’t get sick, get anybody sick. I take care of my dad and don’t want to get him sick,” Geno Blackwolf said.
“It’s the new reality that we all have to live in, so get it done,” Ailani Weddell said.
…Blackwolf has a message for people who may be on the fence about getting the vaccine.

The state says 43.38% of us have gotten our full series of coronavirus shots. We need to double that percentage to feel confident that we’re at community immunity and can safely stand down a lot of our pandemic precautions. The doctors are making house calls.—or at least Oacoma and Oglala calls. So GET YOUR SHOTS!!!
Close to half of Iowa counties refused the vaccines. What is going on people? Get the shots
I’m actually surprise Sd is as high as it it, considering the “fake masks” wearers in my neighborhood when going into menards . Yes there actually is a site to purchase fake masks. (Rolls eyes)
