Bob Mercer gently documents the Noem Administration’s continued stonewalling of South Dakota’s press. The veteran Pierre reporter asked the Governor’s office for comment on pushback from Speaker Spencer Gosch to the Governor’s “style-and-form” veto of House Bill 1217. Mercer reports Team Noem’s non-response thus:
KELOLAND News requested a response from the governor’s office shortly after 9 a.m. Saturday. Neither her spokesman nor her senior policy advisor had responded as of 6 p.m. At about 4 p.m. Saturday, the governor tweeted: “Since Nov, I’ve been exploring litigation to defend Title IX and fairness in girls’ sports at ALL levels. To pursue that strategy, I’m asking legislators to pass a new bill on Veto Day, or I will call a special session. Let’s protect girls’ sports & fix the concerns with 1217” [Bob Mercer, “House Speaker Challenges Appropriateness of Governor’s ‘Style-and-Form’ Veto on Sports Ban,” KELO-TV, 2021.03.20].
The Governor was tossing off tweets all weekend, but she couldn’t make the time or the effort to communicate with the local press. Let’s see if she’s willing to answer questions from Mercer’s Sioux Falls colleagues this morning and her sports-stravaganza at the Hilton.
Twitter is burning up, mostly severely criticizing her anti-trans action. She has stepped in it.
Noem is between a rock and a hard place: doesn’t want to veto the bill, but doesn’t want to tick off the Chamber of Commerce. She doesn’t want to talk about it because she has no interest in acting or speaking for human rights. All she cares about is her political future.
Cowardly COVID Kristi, too chicken to take softball questions from South Dakota’s mild-mannered press. How pathetic. So NOT ready for prime time.
If the snow princess expects to go in the ring with real national candidates who’ve learned much from The Fuhrer Trump, she will melt like, um, snow on Fourth of July. Time to cowgirl up, princess. Better yet, go home, Noem.
Come on folks, she to take over for his twitterness, he can’t twitter anymore, so sad.
