I’m not the only one who recognizes that Kristi Noem is a boring public speaker. In a richly detailed account of South Dakota’s succumbing to the Snow Queen and coronavirus, Stephen Rodrick quotes former Republican strategist Tim Miller in assessing Noem’s effort to rouse the Trump crowd. She’s hitting the right brutal notes for her sociopathic base:
The fact that the media have hammered her for botching South Dakota’s Covid response does not matter even a little bit.
“The MAGA crowd does not give a f— about that,” says former Republican strategist Tim Miller. “As long as Noem is making the right people angry, they’re happy, they don’t care about failures. She’s got the MAGA look.” Miller is a never-Trumper but respects the con.
“Look, she had one of the worst responses to coronavirus in the entire world,” Miller tells me. “And she’s wearing that as a positive! She’s going to troll and dunk on the wimps that cared about the fact that people were dying. MAGA World loves that” [Stephen Rodrick, “The Covid Queen of South Dakota,” Rolling Stone, 2021.03.16].
But she still hasn’t figured out how to fill that sleeveless red dress with a truly captivating stage performance:
Still, something essential is missing from her act. Noem is not a beguiling or charismatic public speaker. Nor has she exhibited an ability to go into full-rage mode like Trump. If she is going to keep the MAGA crowd entertained, that has to improve. “She’s learning the Trump language and using social media to go after people,” says Miller. “But her performance at CPAC was robotic. Maybe she’ll get better with time” [Rodrick, 2021.03.16].
Boring but deadly—that’s South Dakota’s Governor, Kristi Noem.

South Dakota has had governors that were as dumb as Noem and governors that were as cruel as Noem, but never have you had a governor who was both as dumb and as cruel as Covid Kristi. She’s definitely in a class of dumb and cruel that Trumpians can admire.
Noem and Trump are great con artists or carnival barkers and I give them credit for that. I get upset for the fact that some Americans are so privileged that they have never had to have an intelligent thought of their own and follow all these mealy-mouth pundits and politicians. They can be led anywhere, but you cannot make them think.
You know Desantis is more clever, he claims he did so well and uses California as a comparison. Los Angeles is much more densely populated than Miami and if California had Desantis as governor, at a minimum they would have 10,000 more dead. Thats with the current numbers, it would have been much more. The pubs write off deaths as the price of running for President. I mean how can you have people wear masks and claim freedom. The buck doesn’t stop anywhere near the trumpies.
Oh by the way kristi has personally overseen the death of hundreds maybe a thousand more than need be. Remember that North Dakota and South Dakota were about even when North Dakota put in a short-lived mask mandate and South Dakota flew ahead of North Dakota in the death race. Luckily they dropped it so now its more even. It was like watching the women of USD play basketball with the North Dakota state women, one close and two wipeouts. Now its Oregon with six women who are taller than anyone on the Coyotes, oh boy. Oregon has done so much better than South Dakota in coronavirus deaths but I still think the Coyotes can take them, they wiped them out five or six years ago. Too bad they don’t have a great transgender but thats another story link.

Noem pushes false narratives and thrives on them, just like drumpf. The further from reality, the better it sells to sicko-sychophants in la-la land.
I saw her video speech to Outdoor Channel, or some such bologna, and she was painted up like a low rent hussy. Makeup must be blocking oxygen from hitting brain receptors.

Meanwhile, iowa’s Ivanna Kuturnutzov is whining because Ben Cardin of Maryland left his mic on and said Dems would likely have to push infrastructure bill through via reconcilliation process. She has shown zero inclination to work across the aisle. Instead she goes where led by hardcore magats.
In a bit of better news, a majority of iowans polled do not want Grassley to run again, at 87. He is impotent now and getting worse as he sinks into magat swamp ooze.

And how, Donald, have we come to this pass that so many people will not just fall for but openly celebrate and fight for a leader so cruel and dumb?
Republican Governor Larry Hogan of Maryland says such intelligent things during his interviews, such as justifying WHY lifting a mask mandate is warranted in his opinion in his state at a given time or not.
Kristi simply can’t get that far: there is no why whatsoever in anything she says. Just self-righteous dogma.

What feeds COVID Kristi’s soul? Anger. Your anger. She’s clever enough to use your outrage at her stupid actions (or in the case of preventing hundreds of deaths in South Dakota from COVID, her calculated inactions) and flip it to the base as another little victory. She wants status in the Trumpanzee network. No other group is in play.
What also feeds COVID Kristi are comparisons to Trump. It’s a very inaccurate comparison.
Watch any of Trump’s rallies or debate performances. It was more than making racist statements or lying. It was how he did it that electrified the Trumpanzees and generated the energy. Noem is bland, at best, at speaking. “Grab ’em by the …” or anything like it isn’t going to fly unless COVID Kristi says something about notches in her bed post — something with a little bad cowgirlish flair.
Mouthing the phrases, lying pathologically or stealing state resources in plain sight are stale peanuts compared to the bigger game Trump played before he got the nomination. Noem is out of her league. She is incapable to step beyond her freakish posturing and posing.
Our reactions are the fuel for her ego trips.
You can take the farmers daughter off the farm, but you can’t hide the stink of pig manure with perfume and lipstick.
